Great Quality Maca Powder
I really like this maca powder. The quality is excellent, fresh, and finely ground. It blends well into smoothies, oatmeal, or coffee without clumping. The taste is mild and earthy, which is normal for maca and easy to mix with other ingredients. I’ve noticed a boost in my energy and overall well-being since using it regularly. The packaging is good and keeps the product fresh. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a natural, organic maca powder.

UPDATED 2/28/14 MACA WORKS i GOT MY PERIOD 3 MONTHS IN A ROW!
UPDATE 2/28/14 i GOT my period again. thats 3 months in a row. I can't believe its becoming regular without the painful side effects of birth-control. 12/13/13 - 12/19, 1/23/14 - 1/29/14 42 days apart, 2/28/14 37 days apart. I even have a little PMS. Its just 1 day I feel a little sad. Like I cry at corny things. But that's it. I'm off maca for a week since i got my period. I'm gonna start up when its over. I can't believe that I had to go through all those years of bleeding and birth-control and there was something out there that works and i've never felt better. Its really a shame. I am 35, overweight, I am very lazy, I have depression, mood swings, my hormones are all over the place, I can go months even years without a period. I never really feel like doing anything. No energy, no endurance, no sex drive! I have diabetes and PCOS. I am a recovering drug addict. Despite years of trying I can't seem to get pregnant. I heard about MACA and decided to give it a try. The 1st day I tried it I was amazed, I felt great, within minutes I had energy, and it lasted all day. I had a get up and go feeling, focused and awake. After a few days all the great results continued but I started to spot a little. I read up on it and it said it might happen it just means your body is getting in balance and your hormones are getting regulated. I was amazed. I can't believe its already working. Its been 2 weeks now and I still feel amazing. I'm getting more stuff done, I feel positive and more motivated to get healthier and in shape. I've been eating better, working out a little and lost some weight. I feel like my body is finally working the way it is suppose to. I have 1 teaspoon twice a day. 1 teaspoon is equal to 3000mg - 3g of maca. The spotting stopped for a few days and now it started again. I got my period last month (before I started taking maca) and most of the time I won't get it again for a few months or longer but If the maca works I should be getting it sometime in the next week. I will update if i do. One more thing, my husband and I had sex a few days ago and I don't know if its the maca getting my body back to normal but i had the most intense, amazing O of my life! WOW! UPDATE*** 1-23-14 I got my period today. Two months in a row. I had my period since 10yrs old. Since then its been off. By 20 I was bleeding everyday for 2 years, after that no period for 2 years. I've tried provera, birth control and of course would get it but it would last months and it was extremely painful and I was very weak from it. If I didn't take BC I wouldn't get my period most of the time. And believe me after bleeding like that i didn't care if i got it or not but I knew without a period i couldn't get pregnant. 2012 I lost 50 pounds due to drug addiction, 2013 FEB I got clean and gained 40 back but To my surprise i got my period in MARCH 2013 And 3 times since then, very painful and long. Sometimes bleeding through a tampon & a pad within an hour. But its better than nothing. So without Maca I got my period 3 times this year, and the last time was Dec 2013, with maca I got it 2 months in a row. So I really believe this stuff works. And I have no negative side effects what so ever. I have better mood, positive energy, I feel happy and smile more, my mood swings are 95% better. I feel my age instead of 99 yrs old. I don't know about weight gain with Maca Since I've been on it I've lost 13 pounds. Not just from Maca I replace 1-2 meals with a green protein shake but like I said I take 2 tsp a day of maca. And so far no weight gain just loss. I will keep updating! I am so excited! Maca Butter 1 tbs Honey 1 teaspoon Maca MIX until creamy Maca Hot Chocola-tea 1 teaspoon maca Mix with boiling hot water Add tea bag - let stand 5 minutes Remove tea bag Add hot chocolate - (I use Swiss miss) stevia & 1 teaspoon honey SO GOOD

Helps with hormonal acne, but horrible taste.
Ever since I started using this (as well as a face brush to clean my skin), my hormonal acne has been much more manageable. I don't know which one is responsible or if it's both, but I definitely think the maca powder has helped. The taste is pretty awful, but the key to making the powder palatable is mixing it with something. I have a glass of almond milk with Ovaltine and maca powder every morning, and it has really helped with the hormonal acne outbreaks. I noticed I did gain a tiny bit of weight, but it's nothing that can't be controlled. The benefits are well worth it, and it would be a five star product if it weren't for the unpleasant taste. The consistency is powder-like, almost as fine as flour. One package lasts quite a while at a teaspoon a day. I'm still on the first package, and it's been over three months. If you're having trouble with acne, then this is worth a shot at balancing your hormones.

For focus and energy
I put a teaspoon in my coffee in the morning, it tastes and smells nice, somewhat sour but sweet. I’ve noticed that I’m more focused and energized throughout the day, but in a steady, balanced way. I really like it, I’m getting more done.

I got this for an energy boost...
I mostly ordered this to see if it would give me an energy boost. I work long hours from home and often find myself waking up ON my computer sometimes. ha ha. If it also added a little something to libido or (as I have heard) to my hips I wouldn't mind. The package arrived a little late, only because of Polar Vortex related things and such. *sigh* But once I got it I wanted to try it right away. I was nervous because I kept seeing reviews that said there was an awful taste... Right away the smell of the powder was enticing. It is sweet/nutty as described before. It reminds me of SOMETHING but I've still not yet been able to put my finger on it. But I enjoyed the scent. if you breathe in too much you can kind of smell a cooked smell, but otherwise it is a very sweet lovely smell. I've tried it two ways and my favorite is the first way I tried it. I make a vanilla chai latte with honey and heavy cream and I disolve the Maca in another glass of boiling water before adding it to my tea and then I stir it all together. The maca, once added to boiling water, has a starchy smell to it. It doesn't smell bad, but it is different than the powder while dry in the bag. THERE IS NO FLAVOR! Not really. It doesn't affect my tea at all in terms of taste. It may actually add a little something nice to it. But it is mild enough to say there isn't a flavor. I have also added it to a cold smoothie, but I prefer it hot and here is why: It doesn't have a flavor but it most certainly does have a texture. If you don't stir well it can get clumped up and it definitely is a bit sandy/gritty. It has texture. Dissolving it in a small amount of boiling water before stirring it into my tea tends to combat this for me. But if there is a little left at the bottom of my glass I will pour a swig of water into it and just gulp it down. I have noticed more alertness and energy and I've skipped my usual naps when I have taken the maca consistently over several days. This past menstrual cycle I didn't have my usual hormonal crazies in the days before. I was relatively balanced and not so irrationally emotional as I can be the days/day before my period starts. I don't know if that's correlated or not. Time will tell. So far I have nothing bad to say about this. No stomach aches, no bad taste. I will keep using it for the foreseeable future because I want to see if the things I am noticing are really from the maca and not just placebo or coincidence.

Great stuff--no fluff
I've tried organic maca root capsules too which work well but I like the powder better--works faster, its a better bargain and I think it's more effective as well. I've been on three diff prescriptions for depression (which, in my case, means terrible exhaustion), the last one was Welbutrin. It helped a little but not much and I know long term use of pharmaceuticals can have seriously bad side effects so when my friend recommended this stuff I tried it. Nothin' to lose, right? It worked great from the first day and continues to do so. I started with 1/4 teaspoon and since it's thick of winter now I take a slightly rounded 1/4 teaspoon. It's like someone handed me a miracle on a silver platter and I'm not exaggerating. My friend has been taking it for three plus years now and she's at 3 capsules a day bcz it seems your body eventually gets used to it so you need more in time. Not great for everybody, my sister can't take it at all, said it gives her extreme stomach pains. But then again, my sister doesn't really like anything herbal/supplemental...likes her little fun-colored pills from the doctor. But I try to approach my health more naturally as much as possible. I'm also eating a greener, better diet now; have nearly eliminated all sugar, coffee, processed foods, and a lot of meat. I don't take Welbutrin or any pharmaceuticals anymore and I'm not missing them. I'm still less energetic and ambitious bcz its winter but still, maca root makes a world of difference for me. It's also suppose to increase your sexdrive-stamina-whatever. Like I care. I'm just trying to get through a load of laundry and get a little dinner on the table. Real world calling...life is hard, this stuff is worth its weight in gold!

Don't expect maca to taste good, but it is a potent super food
Maca is a relatively unknown health product compared to say, spirulina. I have read that Maca stimulates the sex drive in both men, and women, acting as an aphrodisiac because of it's hormone regulating properties. And there have been some small scale clinical studies backing up these findings. Maca is a root grown in South America. It is a super food. It has a long shelf life of at least a year. When I take it I notice measurable effects that I think are impossible to chalk up to the placebo effect. I'm a 30 yr old male. If you mix it with water only, it will taste similar to a rotten, slightly sweet turnip. If you mix it with spirulina it is almost undrinkable. If you mix it with protein powder like brown rice protien, it is palatable. If you mix it with fruit juice it is horrid, but if you mix it in a thick fruit smoothy it is sufficiently diluted. It mixes well with tomato juice. At first it repels water and clumps, like spirulina or protein powders do, so a submersible hand blender is nice. Drinking clumps of this stuff in water can seriously trigger a gag reflex. Anyone who calls this stuff yummy must be holding their nose. I've given this to people who spit it out after a sip. It's no walk in the park, it's for the select few who value their health above all else, the people who skip the shot of wheat grass in favor of the shot of thick spirulina.. and spirulina is sweet compared to maca by the way. But the effects are noticeable, and it's natural, and it's a vegetable that has antioxidant properties not found in many plants, so in my opinion it is worth it. This is taken directly from wikipedia on their maca entry, and there they individually site these study findings: Small-scale clinical trials performed in men have shown that maca extracts can heighten libido and improve semen quality. A small double-blind, randomized, parallel group dose-finding pilot study has shown that Maca root may alleviate SSRI-induced sexual dysfunction. Maca does not affect sex hormone levels in humans, and has not been shown to act on hormones directly. It has been presumed that maca's effects may be due to the root's unique nutritional profile, which provides optimum levels of nutrients utilized by the body's endocrine system. In addition, maca has been shown to increase mating behavior in male mice and rats. A recent review states "Randomized clinical trials have shown that maca has favorable effects on energy and mood, may decrease anxiety and improve sexual desire. Maca has also been shown to improve sperm production, sperm motility, and semen volume.
