I got some two fall seasons ago that were black. They worked extremely well for what I was wanting them for. I stored them in a dry area and out of the sun. Last fall I bought some more but they were orange. For what ever reason they did not work as well, so I hauled out the old ones and sure enough, most of them still expanded and worked well. If they lose the inside material they will not expand. By the black ones if you can.
