According to Summit Racing "No, the FD-476 does not require an external resistor." If still unsure, do a Internet search on the coil.

one person says china and the other says usa. amazing. which is it?

We are closed today but this item could be made off shore . It would be Monday for us to go look at the box and see where it's made but probably not USA.

Yes , for cooling and to act as a dielectric to reduce arcing.

where is this coil made?

Pretty sure its china. Have it on my jeep and part works perfectly fine. Way cheaper than the cost at the local parts house and its made by the same company that supplies them.
