TOXIC Paperback – July 7, 2015

Love, passion, forgiveness, angst and a fantastic cast of characters make this a brilliant read.Second chance romances are among my favorite books to read. Kim Karr’s Toxic is just that. It is a second chance romance filled with truly emotional moments. There are ups and downs, lies, surprises, secrets and delicious steamy sex scenes all cleverly written into a perfect book.This is my first Kim Karr book and I have to say, I loved it! Phoebe and Jeremy are an incredibly hot couple. Just like the title, their love, their connection is Toxic, like a drug you cannot get enough of. Their chemistry is sizzling. Kim took me on an emotional roller coaster that was totally worth the ride. You see, this is the type of book that keeps a reader totally engaged. Just when I thought one thing, another revelation or plot twist developed. I loved everything about Phoebe and Jeremy, from the way they met, their first night together, to the way they carried on and ended. I cheered for them and wanted to see this couple together. I wanted the forgiveness and the happy ever after for them.I do admit to having moments when I wanted to slam my kindle. But in the end, I am glad I kept on reading.The characters are all unique and wonderful. Jeremy, well… he is simply divine, charming and complex. He is quite the character. Phoebe, is a beautiful and brilliant woman who wants what every woman wants, the man of her dreams, the one she cannot forget. Their friends, supportive and real are significant in the development of this story. Poppy, Phoebes mother, although I disliked her at first, grew on me. While there were many frustrating moments, in the end, I was delighted to see all of the characters come full circle.The ending brought clarity to all those moments of angst and frustration. All of those moments that made me crazy were worth it for this couple.Kim Karr, you have a new fan.I gave this book 5 stars. Be sure to add it to your Summer Reading List.

I can’t think of a word that more aptly describes this story than typical. There is nothing about it that stands out or hasn’t been done before, making it kind of forgettable. I can’t say I was impressed that the entire plot was built solely on hasty decisions, poor communication and pointless drama either. How many times can a person disappear and not answer their phone?If you’re familiar with this genre, you know - good girl from a wealthy family, falling for the ‘bad boy’ with a chip on his shoulder - is a pretty common storyline. I’m not saying it’s one I don’t enjoy, but the ensuing drama and the constant back and forth between Phoebe and Jeremy was a bit much. It was an endless cycle of fighting, running away, making up and broken promises - over and over. Kudos to whoever came up with the title because this definitely becomes ‘toxic’ for everyone involved - including this reader.All of my issues with Phoebe and Jeremy’s story centers around the complete lack of development. Instead of delivering a plot that was dynamic and had some sort of depth, the author threw in one dramatic event after another to keep the story moving. It felt cheap and entirely too easy.With all that said - Jeremy McQueen is definitely book boyfriend material. There’s no denying, he’s the very best part of the story.Craving something different from what I’ve been reading lately, I went for my seventh Kim Karr book. It’s been sitting on my shelf forever and I figured I knew what I was in for. Wrong. I couldn’t look past the drama, the rushed ending (seriously this all happens in a few weeks?) and the non-stop back and forth. If you’re jonesin’ for whiplash - look no further - this is symptom inducing.

Kim Karr is one of those authors who never leaves me disappointed, no matter what she writes I have adored and loved each and every book of hers I've picked up, Kim has a way of writing stories and characters that will leave an impression long after you've turned the last page.Toxic is a story that will grip you from the get go, a story of true love, second chances, misunderstandings, deceit and jealousy, add to that the sexy and gorgeous Jeremy McQueen and you have yourself one red hot, steamy read!Kudos for the epilogue, I always enjoy a book so much more when the reader gets a taste of what the characters are up too in the future.From the gorgeous cover to the more than appropriate title, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the tumultuous relationship between Jeremy and Phoebe, Toxic is by far my favorite book of Kim's one that will be hard to top.If there is only one Kim Karr book you pick up, make sure it's this one, you won't be disappointed!

These two characters have to be one of the most exhausting couples I have ever had to pleasure of reading. My god, they know what they want one minute and then bam you have them falling to pieces.I have to say I loved who they were as a couple when they were fairly younger, but I loved them even more when they became adults. And the chemistry between the two is sizzling! I could feel it coming off the pages.You meet Jeremy at a time in his life where he sees people with status and money as his enemy. Phoebe meets him under the impression that she was just a girl in the Hamptons. Things escalade and they are left wanting and loving each other. Things don't work out, fast forward four to five years. You meet Phoebe engaged to another man. Phoebe meets Jeremy in a bar, and bam the story takes off!I must say I'm glad everything ended the way it did. I'm not giving anything away because what is the point?Thank you for another good read!

4.5 stars...I was just thrilled and totally excited to enjoy another Kim Karr book, Toxic. It's a fantastic romance and such a sexy adventure. I loved this intense relationship between, Jeremy McQueen and Phoebe St Claire. Both these characters come from two completely different lives, can they ever end up together?This day finally had come, and gone and we knew that both Dawson Vanderbilt and Phoebe never did marry. She wasn't even ashamed about her decision.Phoebe was lucky enough to have a wealthy family. Yet she still knew her father had been in jail and because of that, their wealth would have declined.Especially now as Phoebe and her Mother were living the dream in New York City. She knew she would now have to make changes for her family. Not she didn't know even how her future would lead...This is an explosive novel. I thoroughly adored the friction in their up and down relationship. I loved these most amazing characters. Bringing Toxic to life!!* I recommend this book to everyone!!

This book is going to take you on a emotional rollercoaster ride and you're not going to want to put it down. The chemistry between the characters is so hot, you just might have your own toxic feelings of jealousy!

If you can handle serious drama and a never-ending roller coaster ride, this book is for you. Jeremy and Phoebe are equally stubborn so the struggle is on. Great read.

I found this book slow to start and seemed to have to much info about other stuff that it just didn't. The story itself was really good but could be shortened by a lot.

I Couldn't put this book down. Great read. Totally recommend. Fell in love with the characters right from the start!!!
