Cheap Zigbee bulb that just quietly does its job
These are my go-to for the spots that don’t need anything fancy—hallways, closets, random corners where you just want reliable light and full dimming. They pair easily to a Zigbee hub, show up clean in Home Assistant, and respond quickly. No drama, no cloud nonsense, just solid local control. Single color, nothing flashy—but honestly that’s the point. They’re cheap enough that you don’t overthink where to use them. I’ve even tossed a couple outside on the porch without hesitation and they work outside too. lol! High value, dependable, and exactly what you want when you’re building out a lot of lighting without blowing the budget.

Robust zigbee network for outdoor lantern use
These are smart E12 bulbs that use the Zigbee protocol instead of standard wifi. The downside of that is that you need a Zigbee hub to connect. The upside is that Zigbee is much lower power and IMHO more reliable than wifi, and that most Zigbee devices also function as range extenders, so the more switches and bulbs you add, the more reliability and range you can expect. I use these bulbs for the lanterns outside my house, and Zigbee is a great solution for that problem. Standard wifi bulbs had a problem remaining connected to my wifi network - the bulbs are outside of the house and inside metal lantern frames, so the small antennas inside bulbs have trouble connecting to wifi. I use Alexa for my home automation, and have an Echo studio speaker, which has a built-in Zigbee hub, so connecting these to my Alexa network was easy, and now I have Alexa turning the bulbs on at sunset and off at a set time each night. Most importantly, the Zigbee bulbs connect much more reliably than my old wifi bulbs. One reason is that it's easy to plug a Zigbee smart switch into an outlet near the outside wall to extend range at that point, and another is that the bulbs themselves function as range extenders, so if my network can reach the bulbs by my front door, they help extend the range to meet my driveway lamppost.

RELIES ON HUB AND REMOTE SERVER, WHICH ISN"T RELIABLE! DO NOT BUY!!
EDIT: These bulbs rely on a remote SENGLED server, which went down in late June 2025. This means I could not control the bulbs using Alexa or the Sengled app. This is totally unacceptable for many reasons. 1) nothing remote should have control over the lights in my house! 2) That server better be bullet proof, and it wasn't. 3) When the server recovered, my lights still could not be controlled by either. I tried to reboot the hub. No luck. I deleted the bulbs from the app and tried to add them again by rapidly turning off/on the light switch 10+ times. Still no luck. Reading my review from when I got them, I see I had to scan them to be learned by the app. Screw that. I'm buying other brand bulbs that do not rely on a hub and external server. Never ever buying Sengled stuff again. I don't know how long the server was down. Amazon sent an email about the outage, but not the recovery. Bad on Amazon. And I assumed if the server recovered, asking Alexa to turn on the lights would work, so I didn't try anything else. I think it was only a day or two. *** original review, which no longer applies, below *** I bought this pack of 4, and also bought a starter set of 2 bulbs with Hub and Echo, in a Cyber Monday deal. The main reason was a hard to reach switch controlling 3 bulbs. I'm using the 4th in the same room, on a different switch that I want to control differently. I had looked into buying a smart switch, but all the ones I found said they could be tough to fit in the box, and if I can avoid dealing with wiring, that's fine with me. The drawback to this is that I can't physically switch the bulbs on and off since if I happen to leave it off, I can't have Alexa turn it back on. But I can control the 3 lights on the same switch independently if I have reason to dim them differently or have some on and some off. Pairing of the hub went easy, once I actually plugged in the ethernet cable all the way. It looks like you have to plug it in wired first, then you can go wireless after hub setup. For now I'm just leaving it wired. The hub is in a different room, about 40 feet away from the bulbs with a wall in between, no problem. Next, I climbed up on a counter, unscrewed the old bulb, and screwed in the new. That was a mistake. You have to scan the bulb first. Luckily I only did this with one. Make sure you give permission to the app for your camera and storage so it can scan each bulb. Otherwise you'll be trying to read tiny letters, and trying to figure out if it's a 0 or O. From there it's pretty easy. Screw in the bulb, flip the switch on to give the bulb power (bulb will come on), and hit OK to pair the bulb. The bulbs flash two or three times, then a few seconds later are paired. You can pair multiple at once. You have to assign a "Scene", or room the bulb is in. Then you individually name each bulb for Alexa to use, and have Alexa discover the devices. I'm not sure the real point of a Scene other than you can use the app to dim all the lights in the scene the same, or turn them all on or off. I actually find the different dimming levels useful, to make the one over my laptop dimmer, and one over a work area brighter. Alexa does not seem to let you control the entire scene--she will ask which device you want to control. Of course you can set up a group in Alexa, which I did for the set of 3 I want controlled together. Note that these lights don't dim all that much. I still have incandescent lights in my living room that I can dim to almost nothing, and these don't come close to that. But that are noticeably less than full. Fine with me for this application, but I probably won't get a set for that living room. I guess I'd have to change out that switch anyway, since they don't work with dimmer switches. I'm between a 4* and 5*, mostly due to setup not being really intuitive, but it wasn't too bad, and I really like having Alexa control of these lights for a very reasonable price.

good connection, poor daylight spectrum
Sengled bulbs are quite good for compatibility and options for amount of light. These bulbs connected easily to a generic zigbee hub and haven't had lost connection issues. If you just want bright, reliable lighting you can control from your phone, automated schedules, or connect to alexa these work fine. All sengled bulbs we've bought are the farthest from "daylight" spectrum of any daylight or full spectrum bulbs I've ever used. They are quite obviously yellow compared to all other bulbs we have in the house right now and definitely have a lower CRI. Aside from preference the lack of full daylight spectrum lighting sometimes makes it difficult for people with poor vision to read, colors of things will not be as accurate or rich, and it will not have as much of a positive impact on daytime mood and energy to use bulbs that lack some of the color of sunlight. It requires still using a separate bulb to help maintain my sleep schedule. If other bulbs with a better color spectrum had less compatibility and connection issues or higher output lighting options I would definitely use those instead. Unfortunately using other similar priced brands that more closely mimic daylight with true white appearance has resulted in having the bulbs lose connection constantly, needing more bulbs to create enough light, and running multiple apps for the different bulbs we've tested out. To get back to using 1 app with consistently working lights it seems I have to either pay a lot more money per bulb or accept yellowish bulbs. I want a 90+ CRI over 1,000 lumen light bulb that can connect to our zigbee hub and doesn't cost $30 each but such a bulb does not seem to exist so using these in most of the house seems to be the next best option.

Best blubs out there
I recently outfitted my entire house with about 40 Sengled Zigbee Smart Light Bulbs, connected through two hubs, and I am thoroughly impressed! These bulbs have completely transformed the lighting in my home. Installation: The setup process was a breeze. Linking the bulbs to the hubs was straightforward and hassle-free, which was a relief considering the number of bulbs I installed. Performance: Each bulb provides consistent and reliable performance. I have full control over the lighting in every room, from dimming to scheduling, all from my smartphone. The ability to customize scenes and schedules adds a whole new level of convenience. App Integration: The Sengled app is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to manage the settings for each bulb or group of bulbs. Integration with other smart home devices was also seamless, enhancing the overall smart home experience. Value for Money: Considering the quality, performance, and the number of features each bulb offers, these smart bulbs are definitely worth the investment. They not only add comfort and convenience but also help in reducing energy consumption with their efficiency.

They Will connect to your echo plus follow the 6 steps
Lights work well and hook up to my echo plus, i won't say easily though. Step one. Download alexa app to phone and enable "skill" for sengled 2. Turn lights on and off 10 times fast (light bulbs will let you know it worked by flashing 5 times) this resets bulbs and allowed my bulbs to be discoverable to my alexa app which they will flash 3 times when they are discovered 3. Bottom right tool icon press, add device, add device again, choose light, choose sengled, ignore the 4 steps they show (turnlight switch on and of the ten times now) and press the bottom "discover devices" 5. Thelights will flicker when they are discovered and be found under devices 6. Choose add device again but choose add group next and pick a name for the room the lights are in and select all the lights that where on that switch you turned on and off 10 times and the app will always list them together in that group for easy turn off and on with voice or app The lights only short comings is the dimming aspect If you ask alexa to turn down the lights 25% it seams (based of reg bulbs and reg led bulbs) they go down 10%, 50% seams to be 35% and my movie setting is 1% which is like 15% on other bulbs and dimmers(which i own 10 different ones at my house) These light do dim with 12 year old (pre led) dimmer switch. They don't adjust that well with the slider but if you adjust the slider to the spot you want before you turn on the lights they will go to that setting. Unless you go below 20% then they won't come on at all

Life changing bulbs for Moms!
Love these bulbs! I think we're up to 22 Sengled Element smartbulbs in our house now. As a mother of 4 boys, I LOVE them! No more lights left on all over the house to drive me mad! I was raised to never leave a light on when you leave a room, so it makes me crazy to have them left burning. Most of our bulbs are now set on timers to kick on and off at specific times, and because you can schedule a group of bulbs (ex: 6 kitchen recessed lights), or individual bulbs we rarely even touch a light switch anymore. The kids bedroom lights aren't left burning when they go off to school because I have them turn on when they get up and off 10 minutes after they leave. It's heaven! The dimming features are great too. I had a list of additional dimmer switches I wanted my husband to install but no need now! I have the kitchen overhead bulb above the sink stay on all night at 1% power as a night light, as well as an overhead bulb in the kid's hallway so they don't have to touch the light switches and leave them on there either. The bulbs in the living room lamps come on at their scheduled time at 5% power and give the perfect, not too bright, cozy atmosphere to the room where we relax in the evenings. They start dimming automatically an hour before they kick off at 11pm and we don't touch them! If it's a darker, rainy day I just ask Alexa to turn them on a little earlier. Our porch lights are even set on times so they can't get left on during the day anymore! I'm in heaven! I recently added 12 of the flood light smartbulbs to my collection for our finished basement. All of the recessed fixtures down there are on ONE switch at the bottom of the stairs. I'm sure that seemed like a great idea, but when you're in the family room, you really don't need the lights on in the utility room or the game room, or the kitchenette. We planned on hiring an electrician to install separate switches in each room but then I thought about smartbulbs! At $10+/- per bulb they're pricey, but compared to bringing in an electrician and having to put holes in our finished basement walls/ceiling it was CHEAP! Now I have them set up in groups for the different areas and certain ones are on timers. Life changing! I will definitely buy more! The multiple garage bulbs still get left on so that's my next hurdle. Love my Sengled bulbs!

They are BRIGHT.
I bought these along with the Sengled starter kit to switch out all my bulbs to smart ones. I had a terrible experience setting up the hub in the starter kit. You do not need the hub if you just want to use it as a normal bulb, but you do if you want it to respond to Alexa. This was literally the entire reason I bought these. My kids don't pay the electric bill, so it is a constant battle over turning off the lights. There is nothing worse than being cozy in bed and realizing your home is lit up like the Griswold's in Christmas Vacation. This is no longer an issue since I can control the lights via app or Alexa. Set up was flawless on all but 2. I have two bulbs that are just non-responsive punks. They refused to pair. I tried every tip and trick I could find and all I get is a "failed" icon by those bulbs. They are found, but will not pair. I tried even removing them completely on the app and redoing it...nothing. Oh and a tip...scan the QR on the bulb itself and then when it says to turn the light on, then screw it in. Makes it a little easier if you are pairing manually...especially if the light fixture is high. I would rate them 5 if they all worked because they are BRIGHT. I love them. Another tip, you can ask Alexa to turn it down to 10% for example, and it will dim...even on dim it is still bright, but not as bright. My kids call them "insta lights" because they make the room look like an instagram filter. I would recommend these to anyone that is looking to affordably switch to smart bulbs. It is just a shame that 1/4 of my package were duds, only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 5.

Works great
These bulbs are great, easy to set-up and easy to use. Takes less than 10 mins to name all the bulbs and set everything up Works with Alexa and google. You need to have a good quality Wi-Fi router with a strong signal or these will keep dropping every few days, but as long as its a good quality connection, it will work flawlessly

Extremely Satisfied
Works with Rogers Smart Home Security system. Installed all 8 withing 10 minuets. All working, all dimming. Extremely easy to set up (on Rogers Hub), in settings add new lighting and as you install, they automatically get recognized. On the side note, depending what system you’re on, but on Rogers, install one light fixture at the time because they all come up with name “dimming light” and if you do all at once, you’ll have a hard time recognizing which one is in which room. I did room by room/ by section and I was able to rename them all so it’s easy to control them. I don’t know how long they will last, but I’m buying 8 more tomorrow. Extremely happy so far. Shipping was less than 12 hours on Sunday (Prime membership)
