Wow - like tree trunks!
When this year's bean and sweet pea wigwams barely reached my waist, it was definitely the time for new canes. I'm sure that the delivery man was delighted to have taken these out of his van even though he had to lug them to the front door. My goodness, these are magnificent, nothing like the wimpy garden centre canes that I've made do with as they've snapped at the first hint of been pushed into the ground.I blanched a little at the cost but, actually, 50 8' tree trunks for £40 is 80p each and fab value! The first six are already in use supporting a very vigorous raspberry glen coe.

Flimsy - The method, for describing bamboo canes, appears to have changed - for the worse.
When last I purchased bamboo canes, perhaps six or so years ago, my heavy duty 1.4 m canes came measured 20 to 22 mm, tapering to around 18mm-I still have them and they are still in good condition.By comparison, these"14- 16mm" 5 foot bamboo canes measured (on a sample test) 13mm-15mm – but tapered rapidly to 5mm - 6mm.I shall find another use for them– so it's not worth returning them. However, the top 18 inches or so are really flimsy, and best cut off.It appears to me that one wants 5 foot bamboo canes it may now be necessary to buy 7-afoot ones and cut off the top 2 feet.

Size unexpected
When I ordered 50 of the biggest canes I could, 14-16mm diameter, I expected them to be that. However when they arived they were barely that at their thickest end only. I can't say the description was wrong but they were much thinner and less strong than expected and not up to the job I wanted them for. Do check with the seller to make sure you know what's coming before you order

Garden Canes. 2.4m Length.
Arrived as per estimates given. Not packaged, just wrapped with poly top and bottom. About 6 of the 30 were damaged in transit, but as many will be cut down for use in pots, not really a problem - but barren mind if you need all poles to be 2.4m. Thickness 14-16 mm correct at one end, tapered dramatically to very narrow 5mm on many at the opposite end. Girlfriend very happy though, as around half of the stack are being cut down for pots.

Would buy from this supplier again.
I needed to cat proof some new raised beds. The simplest way seemed to be to use 1 inch welded mesh bent into an arch and I then used these bamboo canes (in this case the 4ft ones) to connect the wire arch to the base of the bed to block any cats from getting in. It worked. When I need to harvest a plant or grab a weed I can usually do it by sliding out one or two canes at a time and reaching in and then sliding them back in so it saves me lifting off the wire arch. The canes arrived well packaged and in good condition. The lengths were all identical and as expected and the circumferences were all *fairly* uniform. I would have preferred them slightly thicker / heavier, but for my purposes they have been fine. I would order these again in longer lengths for other projects quite happily.

Best bamboo canes ever
I purchased 50 x 2.4m x 18-20mm bamboo canes. Over a period of some 40 years I have bought bamboo canes on numerous occasions but none have ever been as thick or straight as these. I ordered 8'/2.4m thinking some would be bent and would need cutting down and although there are a couple the majority are fine. Due to past experiences I only ordered 50 but wish now I had ordered 100 at the more economic price. They might be expensive compared to other sellers but they are well worth the extra cost.

Poor quality bamboo canes
Although the canes were mainly consistent with quoted size at the thicker end, 12 - 14mm, at the other end they tapered off very markedly. While many sellers quote that the smaller end diameter is guaranteed to be 70% of the diameter of the larger end in this cases the diameter fell far far short of this. As can be seen in the picture many canes were only 5 or 6mm in diameter compared to 12 to 14mm at the other end. So more like 40% rather than 70%. They are thus not very sturdy and won’t last too long. In addition the canes look old with several having black marks on them. Not impressed and won’t be buying these again
