Good resource for initial network configuration
My friend wanted to setup her work network themselves. Asked me for advice since I've been in IT field for many years. So, I bought this book for her. She's pretty competent when it comes to computers. Her main lack of knowledge came from setting up the workgroup users and shares, and she followed the instructions in this book and got the job done without too many issues holding her back. She thanked me for this great book! It's pretty easy to follow and the illustrations really helpful too. I would recommend it if you are having issues getting things setup.

information I've not found before
has resolved, or except for my mistakes, would have resolved the connection problems in my personal LAN of 3 macs and 4 winboxes.Really need to get the paper book so I can have it open while mussing with permissions and stuff. (as I think is true with most issues like this…can't be reading on a PC and tweaking settings and rebooting at the same time!<G>).

Organization could be much better
At first, I noticed the text was a decent size and made reading the book extremely easy. Then, as I started working through it, I started getting confused as to what the author was making reference to. The organization of the book could be a lot better. One thing I noticed was that repeated reference to setting up a domain network, but the book only shows you how to set up a workgroup. This creates confusion. It would be better that comments on the domain were put in a different section. Then the author introduces multiple ways to access changes through different methods. This also creates confusion. Also, I felt that there were considerable gaps of information in between the topics. Overall, I found the book frustrating and not all that helpful.

Great Book
The book is well written and in a way that is easy to understand. The author also points out specific details and/or steps that other books don’t mention.

Too basic
Most of this can be figured out easily at yhe computer without the book. It also uses terms that are advanced without explaining them.

Very very basic.
Very very basic cookbook, not much that you cannot find for yourself. Very little in term of explanation on how network actually work.
