Didn't really think it would work. I was wrong.
I bought this thinking it probably would work but not all that well. I figured I'd end up having to call a pro to make the job look decent. But it worked very well. Very, very well. I'm a believer. I used it to paint the high edges of a formal three-story staircase, complete with lots of curved plaster, in our 150-year-old house. It got the edges perfectly, better than the previous job which was done by a contractor. And I got it done in less than two hours. Like others, I brushed the paint onto the pads, and had to fiddle with it a bit to get the feel of the thing, but it did a good job everyplace but one corner, which obviously was never square in the first place. Clean up was easy, and I found that the pad really held a lot of paint -- more than you'd think by looking at it. FWIW, I almost never write product reviews, unless the item is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. This was exceptionally good. Worth every penny.

No Scaffolding Needed.
I was able to paint a beam on my 22' ceiling without renting scaffolding and just attaching this to a long pole. The pad holds a good load of paint without dripping. My criticism would be that the hreaded attachment to the pole should be of better quality. Although it didn't actually fall off, it didn't attach very securely. I felt like I had to be really careful for not to come flying off. I would pay a couple dollars more for a robust attachment method with a thumb screw to keep it securely on the pole. I would also like to be able to have the swivel but also ability to lock it straight with no swivel. I would pay a few dollars more to have some kind of quick-release attach/detach from the pole as it's too difficult to dip into the paint while attached to a 20' pole. I opted to brush the paint onto the pad rather than unscrew from pole each time to load up. I masked areas I could reach with a ladder just to ensure clean lines but then was able to cut-in and apply multiple coats with the edger saving many trips up and down a ladder. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm not sure I would use it for edging the easy to reach places but for high ceilings and avoiding trips up down a ladder this is well worth it.

Makes painting so much easier and faster
I was amazed at how quickly I can paint walls. This edge is a real time saver. No need to tape and the edger makes perfectly straight edges quickly and effortlessly. In my opinion, the negative reviews were due to folks not following the directions for use. Remember to tilt the wheels up when floating the pad lightly (don’t dip deeply) on the paint, gently scrape the pad along the rim of the paint holder to remove excess paint, then tilt the wheels down. This way the wheels never get paint on them and you have effortlessly made perfect edges. I purchased extra pads, but the original ones clean easily and should last through many paint jobs. Highly recommend this product.

Not perfect, but fine.
I bought this to paint my open stairwell, since I was unwilling to hire the work out and didn't want to invest in some complicated ladder system to use as scaffolding over the stairs. I went into painting thinking that this was the best of limited options and my expectations were low. It worked...fine. The concept is good but execution is difficult without lots of practice. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on the advice of other reviewers to make sure I knew how much paint should be loaded onto the pad each time and any other tips for using the tool. I practiced, and it did a good job on the section of the wall where I could hold the unit in my hand with a ladder - nice clean edges up against the ceiling and door molding without any marking on the ceiling. BUT be wary when you are using it on an extension pole. To get a clean line and to keep the tool from rotating to the side you have to keep steady, firm pressure in the middle of the unit, but the limited vertical tilt means you have to be standing exactly beneath the tool (where you can't exert much pressure at all with a pole). I had assumed when I purchased that the vertical tilt where the tool attaches to a pole was such that I could have used it on the ceilings as well, but that's not possible due to the way it is designed. I have a bunch of gray paint marks on my ceiling now, but the walls are done and I'm considering it good enough. But I will need to hire someone to come and paint the ceiling. Note that in all the videos I saw, the pros were using it either in hand or on a very short (1-2 foot) pole - I think it works best in that circumstance but wouldn't recommend it on an extension pole unless you have limited options and low expectations for final product like me!

great for corners; but be careful for first time users!
Easy to use: Sort of. The instructions are fine, and give a decent way of how to use the product, but the website provided does NOT work. I would use you tube for a more expert use of applying paint to the product. For me, this took a bit of practice to get used too, and will often lead to droplets of paint coming down. Make sure to not apply TOOOOO much, otherwise, you will have a lot of clean up. Practice before going to difficult corners! Easy to clean: Yes, you just need to be rough with the bristles and apply a lot of water, if necessary, paint thinner or paint remover to REALLY save the applicator. Otherwise, it comes with two free(?) applicators. Value for money: Absolutely. You're saving yourself some time, and if time is money for you, than yes, it's a value. Tip: Be sure to have plastic on the floor or paper, so you can have little to no clean up while practicing with this product. This takes a little bit of time to get used too!

Shur-line edger DOES NOT WORK
The Shur-line paint edger does not work as expected. I was hoping to use the edger to reach areas not accessible with a ladder or scaffolding. Unfortunately the product is made too cheaply to accommodate painting areas needed. For example, you can insert an extension rod into the edger to reach high areas, but when sliding the edger along the wall near the ceiling, the part holding the extension rod completely detaches from the edger. Additionally, the swivel capacity of the tool is too restricted making the edger difficult to move across a wall. After practicing several times on easily accessible walls and paint continually ending up on the ceiling, I realized this tool could not be used for reaching my two-story foyer walls. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. If you plan to use the edger around door or window trims (without attaching an extension rod), the product is adequate. Keep in mind the rollers on the product leave a very slight gap between the wall area and the space you don't want paint. As a result, if you are painting an area that has been previously painted you likely won't cover the other old color with the edger. In those cases, taping and using a paintbrush are your best option.

Helpful to have!
I have a love hate relationship with this painting tool in general but this one has worked the best out of all the other ones I’ve tried before from hardware stores. Sometimes the wheels don’t glide well or get stuck which is frustrating. Be very cautious to make sure you only get paint on the pad and not the wheels or anywhere else on the item otherwise you will be upset lol. It was compatible with 2 different poles I have. Overall I would probably use this one again if I need to paint in the future.

Easy to use paint pad holder with several reusable/washable applicator pads
Love this set for general painting and not just the edges even though this is what these are meant for. The holder in this set is much better than the basic one we had which doesn't have the black handle part. This one locks in the pads much better so that they don't shift and fall out while painting and that's very important. Price is higher on these things so 1 star knocked off for that, and no one has made generic versions of them yet (I think one of the big box does have their own store brand version but not for much less), so this company effectively has a monopoly on the tech and design. We are able to reuse the pad so it cuts down on the cost. My husband prefer painting using these pads with the holder vs rollers which he finds much harder to use and eats up a lot more paint. This painting holder allows for more control and amount of paint and application, but it is a bit slower. For home jobs, this will do but not for commercial jobs of large surfaces, which is why good paint rollers still rule the day and cost so much. This thing is pretty durable, we have dropped the holder and the applicator pads quite a few times and they hold up, but eventually the pads can crack. Easy to install, just snap in the pads into the holder, the design is good, and the pads don't leave paint lines that would require extra work to go over, the plastic is durable and damage/scratch resistant.

Expensive...
As an American, I feel like a fool for purchasing this. The retail price for this in the states is $5.95, I paid €20 this. That's a 400% markup... For plastic with a foam square on it... Oh well, let's see if it actually gives me a clean line... Painted two rooms with it and have learned that if you have perfect walls with hard clean edges and corners, this will working great. Paint paint onto the product (don’t dip the product in paint) and roll away. Problem is, many corners and edges to homes are not straight, and this tools does help change that. My suggestion is to spend your time using painters tape, tape the edges, press firm on the tape and then brush paint away from the tape, not towards it to avoid slippage under the tape. After 20-30 minutes, slowly pull the tape off- you’ll have the hard line you’re looking for.

Maakt strepen
Voor gladde wanden is dit geen optie . De pads zijn van een hard soort vacht. Niet net zoals een vachtroller meer zoals klittenband. En maken lelijke strepen op de muur .

Amazing
This product when used according to the instructions is amazing. Cuts a straight line between ceiling and wall accurately. My only suggestion is I wish the handle as able to lock if you are not using a handle extension. Highly recommended. No more taping for me.
