STANLEY FATMAX BC8S Fully Automatic 8A 12V Battery Charger/Maintainer with Cable Clamps

Great Price Point & functons as expected.Fatmax is a polarity protection unit with 2 amp / 8 amp trickle / fast charging option. The up side of a charger of this weight and size to provide a trickle / fast charge option should be mentioned. The older competitor10 amp charger I used for years is heavy generates heat and hums and poses concern for leaving long term unattended. Used Fatmax several times worked perfectly to charge a car battery, mower battery, marine battery, battery for electric winch & gel motorcycle battery. This product reigns over the 3 times the price product called Battery Untender. Unlike the Green Battery Untender that gets stuck in 6 volt mode and needs a battery to have a minimum of 3 volts before it will charge a battery. Contacted the Green Battery Untender folks and they are full of excuses and knowingly keep putting this product in the market. Hook up the Fatmax"s quality terminal clamps to your battery decide on 2 / 8 amp option press charge button and your set. The Green Battery Untender is headed to the garbage as one never knows if it will wig out and charge a battery. Normally not a fan of Stanley products however this one delivered. Also this product has roots in SWFL and have not experienced any negative traits of other reviewers. My Fatmax unit is similar in size to other revirwers posted picturess however different in color to which maybe a updated model. Would recommended the Fatmax and repurchase again. Check the competition you will be satisfied and save green money by not purchasing the Green Battery Untender.

So far fantastic. Have it hooked to a medium sized diesel generator using a Deka 12v 650 Amp marine replacement battery, to keep it fully charged, after the first (smaller 12v battery) died. I had used a 1A and 1.5A trickle charger on the smaller battery and they did not (obviously) keep things fully charged. This seems to serve the purpose much better - especially on this "full size" 12v battery.Don't really recommend it if you need a "rapid charging device"...It took a while to charge the battery the first time, 8A mode took 20+ hours, and the battery had moderate charge. However once the voltage was steady and fully charged, it switched into maintenance mode as expected and has kept the battery at a constant "fully charged" 13.2v since.This looks like a great product for keeping a battery fully charged and healthy when it's not used regularly - I would definitely recommend.

This works exactly how I had hoped it would and is just about perfect. I use the power outlet plug to keep my battery topped off in my Grand Cherokee. My only issues would be that I wish the wire was a bit longer between the battery end and the charging unit so I could tuck it away in the back, and that the unit itself was a bit smaller as it's quite large compared to other Battery Tenders. It would also be really nice to automatically start charging when you plug it in rather than having to press the button, but that might be a safety issue and by design. I use the slow 2A mode and it works great.

Bought BC8S from Amazon to charge my motorcycle battery for winter storage. I used the maintenance mode (2A) as the battery suggested either 1A or 2A for regular and quick charging respectively at 12V. I don't see ayou 6V option.After about 45mins of charging period, the unit went into trickle charge mode and the green light by Charged lit up. The inbuilt fan turns on in Maintenance and Rapid Charge mode and turns off in Trickle Charge/Charged state. The fan sounds is only noticeable in a very quiet environment.Easy usability and automatic maintenance mode. Light weight, 8"x4" and 3" thick. One button to switch modes. Wish it had a volt/ammeter, but no complaints. Comes with 3 types of connectors as mentioned. Build quality of the unit is pretty good, where the interconnects to the cable connectors feels cheaper and is tight. Doesn't fit flush.In Maintenance mode(2A), the unit outputs 13.7V and 14.4V in Rapid Charge Mode (8A). The cable from the unit to wall socket, and from unit to battery is 5-6ft long.I like the product and would recommend it for motorcycle and car battery charging/maintenance.

EDIT: DIED IN TWO MONTHS. NO LONGER POWERS ON. STAY AWAY FROM THIS JUNKThis is ABSOLUTELY NOT "fully automatic" in any way, shape, or form. In order to use this charger, you need to turn it on and select the charge rate. Yes, it's only one button to press a few times, but that is NOT "fully automatic".A fully automatic charger just works. You plug it into power and it starts charging. No turning it on. No selecting charge rates. No pressing buttons. It's fully automatic!Not this charger! If you plug it in attached to a battery it sits there, powered off not doing anything.I needed an 8A fully automatic charger for my application. This does not work for it, but I've been making due. Several times I've had a COMPLETELY dead battery because the SLIGHTEST power blip will turn the charger off. And guess what? Since it's not automatic, it stays off!

A nice feature is the different lights that let you know what is going on. I don't have to stand right next to it trying to read a blurry gauge. I can be busy doing something else on the other side of the room and see if the light is still on for charging or if it has switched to the light for fully charged and maintaining. I want to know as soon as one battery is fully charged so that I can start charging the next one and being able to tell from far away is super helpful. I used the 2 amp setting to charge the lawnmower and motorcycle batteries and the 8 amp to charge the truck battery. It automatically switched to maintenance/trickle charge after fully charging each battery so it worked as advertised. It's small, quiet, easy to use has easy to see lights and a low price. What's not to love?

It works as it should. I would definitly buy again and recommend it to anyone.

From 8 amps to 2 amps conditional mode, this battery charger may not be fast but, it has been very reliable for the 2 weeks I've used it.On the weekends to top up the battery level... until the following day, it has not disappoint me so far.

Does the job as advertised; Tried to buy a second unit for a friend, it seams this model is no longer produced.
