Webster's New World Compact Japanese Dictionary: Japanese/Engish-English/Japanese

I got this dictionary because I was interested in learning japanese. When I got this dictionary, it was somewhat smaller than I thought it would be. However, it does provide translations of even simple words that we use everyday into japanese. I feel that this is a pretty good japanese dictionnary. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in learning japanese.

We are a military family with lots of diversity. I am a fourth generation Army veteran. This book is exactly what she wanted to speak to all her friends and family she is learning more than 4 languages at once. I have enough trouble speaking my own language. I can't keep up with all the slang our youth continues to create! Not to mention text lingo. I'm still trying to figure out what ROFLMBO means. My kids just shake their head at me and laugh.

The book is VERY compact, or a little too small for what I was looking for. I thought it would be more of the size of a regular size paperback book. I need them for a student exchange and want something that has more words and looks like it will withstand a few handed down uses.

Serves it's purpose well and although the size was smaller than I expected it is ia great fit for my son's backpack!

Really good and fits well in your desk or pocket. Tons of words and good uses for any situation. I recommend.

Purchased for Grandson who was taking Japanese in college. With the help of this book he had a 4.0 for three semesters and was a tutor of Japanese during that time also.

This is a very good dictionary for both the English and Japanese sides of communication. It has been very helpful and small enough to carry in a pocket - which makes it handy to use.

I agree totally with every negative review: limited vocabulary, tiny in size (this is strictly a travel use dictionary), I purchased it hoping that I could use it in my classroom for my ESL students, what a joke, it is difficult for some reason to find good Japanese dictionaries here in the US, so I tried this one only to find it is pretty much worthless for even the simplest voacbulary translation. This is not a good resource, do not purchase it. I returned it.
