SOMA Smart Home Smart Shades Electric blind control. Smartphone control

It's quite strong - I was concerned it wouldn't be able to drag up my shades, since they require some force, but it seems to work fine. It's quite slow though. Takes around 2 minutes to drag up the shades 150 cm.Instructions are clear and app works alright, but the triggers and scheduling is really a bare minimum. I would like to be able to set X time before or after sunrise or sunset, be able to drag them down or up depending on the weather, if somebody is at home and so on.Battery is very weak. After a full charge I dragged it up and down 3 times during a day and the battery was down to 8%. So you need to keep it connected at all times.It would have been nice with an angled mounting bracket. There was no way for me to mount it without going against the instructions and making the chain turn 45 degrees between the mounting angle of the shades and the Soma device. However, that solution seems to work.Also would have been nice with a standard USB micro or mini charging cable rather than a 3,5 mm headphone jack that's so embedded that one can only possibly use the cable that comes with the device. It would also have been nice with a cheaper option without a solar panel. Not everyone wants to put up a solar panel on their window or even has enough sunlight for it to be able to charge.Sad that it doesn't connect directly to WiFi rather than Bluetooth, that you can't use it with Google Home, Z-Wave, Zigbee, IFTTT and doesn't even have an API. It could at least use the mobile as a proxy for enabling smart home features, instead of having to buy another device (Soma connect) to make it work with Alexa or Apple HomeKit.

Sadly doesn't do as stated.First of all needed charging as it came out of the box. Sat and waited for it to charge, faffec around with it for over an hour and even when set up as directed through the app it simply didn't move enough for the blind to open.The 1st product I've ever had to send back due to not doing as described.

It does not have manual override on it and if the blinds are a bit heavy... it will de-calibrate over time; ie: not fully close, but otherwise simple enough to use and install.

Rubbish.The website shows a videoStep 1 is to take the cover of the box and press a buttonTheir is no button!!The app won't work without the black button being pressed.Returning it as it's rubbish.Ps the link for the app is hidden somewhere on their website. Read through to find the link as it's not clear and hidden away.

First off, I’d like to point out that it would be cool if I could use it with Amazon Alexa. I ordered the product just for to try it out as I planed to automate my home a bit and blinds seemed like an easy place to start. The product seemed so small that I was afraid the motor wouldn't be able to move my heavy blind. It struggled a bit during setup but ended up working quite well. It moves the heavier blind a little slower as I expected. I discovered that you can’t move the blind manually any more after installation. It isn’t noted anywhere, but as I mostly use schedules, I think it should be fine (will update the review after few months or so with new feedback) During setup I did have some problems but luckily Soma support guided me through the tricky bits. Overall, I’d say it is money well spent. If this one holds up well in few months then I might get more.

I received my smart shades device and I must say I am positively surprised. The setup was really easy and everything worked perfectly. I have continuous loop cords in my house, but if you have some other type of cords, it may not work. So be aware. The best part of the product is scheduling. I have set different time stamps to lower and raise my blinds in different times in different rooms. Although, if you have the app installed in different phones, you cannot control the blinds simultaneously. It only works with one app at the time. My blinds are about 8 feet and it takes about 1,5 minutes to move them, which is a bit slow, but I don't mind as I have them scheduled anyway. Overall, it is a good product. I wish the system could be connected with Apple Homekit tho.
