Seems a plastic mask with gel in it; clients have posted a black fabric mask,and others are describing the mask one that cover lights.which one is it?

It's the gel eye mask, and the black eye mask is another product. They used to sell together, so the reviews were merged by Amazon. Now the black mask is no longer available for sale, so only the gel eye mask.

can you put in microwave?

Not sure if that plastic would hold up to the hot gel Maybe you could put in hot water

There is no indicator on my mask but, having used these for several years, it doesn't matter to me because they work, stay soft, and are long-lasting.
