Excellent High Quality Bag!
This bag is amazing! Wonderful rich leather that feels great to touch. A very well done interior - something that is lacking any many bags. This shipped free the day I ordered it and arrived three days later. Well packaged, great color that will go with just about anything you choose to wear. After spending several days comparing too many bags to count, I found that the Visconti Berlin offered everything I wanted in a new bag for work including:1. Many compartments to stash things. Especially a lot of very deep and wide zip pockets. There were places for pens and pencils, etc.2. A bag that wasn't super huge, but roomy enough to fit my 11-inch zenbook and 10-inch tablet, plus charger, plus notebook, various accessories, and my nintendo ds lol.3. A decent length matching leather strap. Many of the bags I came across in this price range or slightly lower excelled in the design of the bag and just totally bombed when it came to the strap. Many of them are made of nylon which (in my opinion) clashes with the lushness of leather. Not the Visconti though.4. A decent price for a durable, well-constructed bag. The design of the Visconti is very simple, but classic. It works well as a shoulder bag or as a non-conventional briefcase.Of course, few products are perfect and in there were a few things I wish were a part of this great bag in hindsight. None of them are deal breakers by any means, but just observations:1. The interior of the bag should be able to be zipped shut. Since the flap doesn't completely cover the opening at the extreme left and right, one might worry about things getting wet in the rain. Not that you should carry a bag like this around in the rain, but I would feel better putting my expensive electronics in with a bag that could zip shut at the top as well as have the flap over it. Fortunately, I live in Los Angeles where it hardly rains.2. With the handle mounted on the top flap, I wonder how long it will hold up. So far so good, but I do wonder.3. The brass plating on the Visconti badge on the back of the bag was already peeling when I got it. It's not a big deal as the color underneath is actually more desirable for me and doesn't take away from the look of the bag, but it's a little disheartening to receive an item where this is already happening.I can't wait to start using this bag as my everyday work bag. I had previously been carrying around a wonderful and durable Timberland backpack which, while highly functional, clashed a lot with the casual business attire I had begun to wear to work and elsewhere. Love this bag!

its alright
it is a nice satchel, looks good and professional, but one of the threads on the inside came apart and made two pockets go back to one pocket.

Best briefcase I have ever owned
Best briefcase I have ever owned. Excellent leather quality. Fashionable, convenient and easy to grab and go. Perfect for my laptop, a large notebook, and few folders. Ton's of pockets on the inside, outside.Very happy with my purchase and I've had it over a year. One minor complaint is the strap's attachment buckle. It is supposed to twist, and allow you to unwind when the strap gets all twisted, after wearing it and when I take it off my shoulder. However, the twist mechanism is simple metal/on/metal and it get stuck. I have to manually dislodge the buckle twisting mechanism before I can untwist it. Not a big deal and only a minor complaint.I love the Visconti Berlin leather briefcase. Highly recommend it.

Perfect for hipsters - made to look rugged but actually plastic and weak underneath.
I hoped this would be the bag that saw me through law school, but it's already falling apart and will need to be replaced soon. When you buy a leather satchel you picture something like what Indiana Jones had, rough and ready to go the distance. This kind of gives that impression when you first unpack it, but it's poorly designed and was not up to the medium level wear of going from my home to my car to campus and back again four days a week. The main problem is the piping which surounds both sides of the bag. It is a thin layer of leather over plastic cord that is similar to what goes into a weed eater. Once the leather wears through, which mine did after five months or so, you have plastic cord sticking from your bag. In a way, it is the perfect bag for hipsters - it is made to look as if it can survive tough situations but really it is weak and plastic. Avoid if you need a real bag that will last a few years or buy another cheaply made product that is also cheaper in price.

Great Bag, Slim but with Great Utility
I looked at a lot of messenger bags/briefcases and this was the one for me. It can hold my laptop, as well as a small binder/folder, pens, phone, wallet, business cards. I love the color of the fabric(leather technically...) and the overall design. People have complained about this bleeding brown color on your light colored clothes and there is truth to that but it's admitted by a little tag the manufacture put on the bag. It's not bad unless you let the bag chafe against your clothes a lot such as by running with it or riding a bike (depending on how you position it). This shouldn't be a problem though since this doesn't match most light colored clothes anyway. When you have a designer bag, you have to put up with the designer. Any oiled leather will have a finish the rubs off slightly so you need to put up with it.Bottom line: I don't regret my purchase. If this is going to be your beater bag, then maybe you should take a look at Velcro and polypropylene. The star this lost for me was for the oil/rub issue but it really should only have lost about half a star for that.

I bought this bag for the office and found that it is a great small bag
Overall: I bought this bag for the office and found that it is a great small bag, but it can't hold much (i.e. a laptop) and the main compartment is not zippered.Exterior Leather: I bought mine in Tan and found that the color was perfect in person. My main issue with the exterior, as another reviewer has mentioned, was oil spotting. There are few visible oil spots that really ruin the look of this bag. Secondly, the leather is not treated and will pick up signs of wear very easily. For the most part, you can just rub this away. However, if you happen to get the bag wet, then the bag will stain. I had this happen and had to treat the leather with Lexol Leather Conditioner and Cleaner. I found that Lexol changed the feeling of the bag (less like nuback leather) and darkened it. I would not recommend Sno-Seal application if you don't know what you are doing. I tried Sno-Seal on the bottom of the bag and the leather became much too dark (almost black in appearance). If you want to make the leather more durable, stick with applying Lexol and being aware that the color will darken. I also never noticed any oil rub off when I bought this product on my clothes, but I did get transfer when I wiped a paper towel over the bag. If you do the Lexol treatment (at your own risk), that should also take care of the oil rub.Clasps & Handles: The main clasps attaching this to shoulder straps are solid and the leather is very thick in this area. Similarly, the top carrying handle is fairly solid. The clasps that hold the lid of the bag down, in comparison, feel a bit cheap. They get the job done but the metal is not the best quality and if you have anything that pushes the size of the bag, you will have difficulties closing the bag. It is a shame the company cheaped out here. The shoulder strap is made of leather and canvas and is okay for most use.Interior: The interior of the bag is separated into two main compartments. None of these are zippered but they are lined with a different material that makes it easier to add and remove stuff. Because the compartments are not zippered, you really need to make sure your bag is clasped closed before you leave. The interior dimensions make it impossible for my 15" rMBP to fit with its case (BookBook), but it can fit tightly with no case. If you plan on storing anything beyond a laptop, like a larger water bottle, there will be very little space in this bag for anything else. This bag is definitely not large on space so keep that in mind with your intended use.

Very nice bag for the price
I just received it but here are my thoughts thus far - I will update this comment in 3 and 6 months time. This is for the OIL TAN versionPros:- Bag is the style I want for work: classic, subtle, and classy - primary selling point.- Inside lining is better than expected- Strap is pretty decent for this price point- They did not skimp on the materials on main panels, leather is supple if cared for- Brass parts look good- Sturdy handle- Well put together and good weightCons: (list seems long but in my mind, positives outweigh negatives)- Dye does rub off slightly. (see below)- Leather choice - the main panels are fitted with good pieces of leather but the side panels on MINE were fitted with scrappy and hard pieces. It is slightly distracting but understandable at this price range. The flap joint pieces were mismatching on mine.- Brown colour was a bit too light for my taste.- Oil stains were too black in some areas, making it hard to see the brown.- Strap was made of canvas and strips of leather, since theres no canvas anywhere else on the bag, it looks a bit odd.- The clasps take a bit of getting used to. I would have liked it if they used another clasp design.- The leather tongue and belt that covers the clasp cannot be adjusted easily, the belt itself doesn't look like it's made to be adjusted (tongue too long)Treatment: Improvements that I made to bring out the full potential of the bagUSE AT YOUR OWN RISK, I cannot assume any responsibility for your results. Do not attempt any of this if you intend to return the item.- used a soft cloth and wiped down the bag entirely to take out some of the extra dye- tested a spot with a cloth and Danier leather care lotion (Canadian company, I think any leather care lotion made for quality leather will work) Used circular pattern and let dry. Observed results. It darkened the bag slightly to a hue I liked. The bag came very dry and slightly brittle, the lotion was able to bring back the suppleness but eliminated some of the "dusty" texture of the leather. I was okay with this but you will need to decide. I applied one coat over the bag, let absorb for 1hr, and did another coat.- Used Protector spray (again, any quality brand should work fine) and sprayed the bag twice with an absorption period inbetween. Results: The leather became more supple and smelled less like original and slightly more chemical. The dustiness of the bag disappeared and there is a slight gloss to the leather. The darker oil stains became slightly darker which is a side effect I did not like. It was less tan and more dark brown by the end. There is a slight sheen to the leather which may be due to the waterproofing spray.I will check in in a few months to update this with regards to durability and functionality.Overall recommendation:So far this is a solid value buy. I work in a professional environment and it is conservative enough without being boring. I am very pleased with the design and execution, and the modifications I made made it the bag I was looking for, while paying much less. It is able to hold a 14' laptop and some notebooks with ease and the leather is hard enough to hold shape. I look forward to using it. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a solidly built brown workbag on a budget.

Super fast delivery, bad oil staining
I bought this bag for my boyfriends birthday and he loves it!The good - it was delivered super fast, couple days at most I believeThe bad - I noticed some reviews commented on the oil staining and I crossed my fingers that I wouldn't have the same problem but the first thing I noticed was that the left side of the lid and buckle strap severely lacked the same dark stain, quite noticeable. Luckily my boyfriend is not as OCD about those things as I am and shrugged it off, assuming it will probably fade over time anyways.I noticed someone else also commented about the canvas strap which I was also uneasy about but turns out it looks absolutely fine (and that's coming from my "OCD" self)Overall it's a great bag, much more stylish for university than a cheap backpack
