Searching for another sea snake
Once you see the sea snake in "OCEAN'S WONDERLAND", you will be dazzled by the possibilities...30 films later you will come to the conclusion that you will be chasing that one scene for the remainder of your 3D journey. Let me save you time, money and effort. YOU WILL NOT FIND IT. I almost feel like what those people talk about after doing some sort of drug for the first time. This current generation of 3D flat out sucks. Its like staring into an aquarium or fish tank. Besides said sea snake scene, which is the most awesome in home style 3D ( that thing comes off the screen and in your face and floats in mid-air), you will be frustrated to the highest, wondering how come they could do that with the sea snake, but a major studio with all kinds of money, clout and technical no-how cant seem to pull it off. Every movie you watch will be fish tanky. I'm talking movies like "the predator", "resident evil", "point break" and "star trek"; movies that would and should absolutely rock your world, end up leaving you with a sore nose bridge and ears from the uncomfortable glasses and a "what was the point of this again?" and I got mislead and unfairly relieved of my cash. So this review is more about the entire current state of the genera and less about one particular feature per se. To all who have made the mistake of investing in this less than ideal current technology and still are searching for something, ANYTHING, that will make this just a slightly less total waste, get "OCEAN'S WONDERLAND 3D". See the sea snake, then, slam the door on this current iteration, until the next more competent version of 3D makes its appearance.

Mediocre story telling and not very informative.
Bought this series mainly to add 3D discs to my collection and thinking that the COUSTEAU name would guarantee something interesting . This clearly is not the case here, Jean-Michel is clearly not in the same league as Jacques Cousteau. This presentation is very bland, not very informative and the story telling is done as it was intended for kids. It is nice that it is a region free presentation with many languages to choose from but the other languages are so it seems, just a translation of the same dumb and boring. uninteresting English narrations. It is presented in the form of a story as seen through the eyes of a turtle with here and there some supposedly funny remarks intended for more grown up ears. The 3D-ness of these discs are O.K. but nothing really spectacular, and the colors are mostly blue-ish grey in most of the scenes as if the whole movie was shot in the same location. Only the disc "Ocean Wonderland" has a little bit more color to it because it shows some scenes shot around a reef area, but it has the same bland not very informative story telling as seen through the eyes of a turtle. I personally wish that the BBC would produce more of THEIR nature films in the 3D format because they are in general much more interesting and are usually of higher quality also than most others.

Well worth your money to see all three of these discs, which also include the 2D version
Just viewed these 3 disks Friday in 3D. The 3D is excellent. I haven't seen anything this good before other than in an IMAX theater. I really thought that the sea snake was going to bite me. The tiny little fish were practically swimming by my face. All this is dependent on what type of TV you purchased and what type of 3D glasses you have. The 3D glasses came with my LG 3D Cinama TV, so my review is based on my TV. When I purchased this collection there was no mention that I would also get the option to view the movies in 2D, so that was an added bonus. My grandchildren lose interest in the 3D rather quickly, so this features allows me to switch to 2D for the grandchildren. The color is amazing, the dolphins and whales commentator is female and her voice is soothing, and if you are tired you may fall asleep. The one on sharks and the corel reef is presented by the sea turtle showing you around the ocean, he also has a calming voice. Overall the 3D will not disappoint.

Great Video Collection with minor problem regarding all being labeled 3D
Any that loves the ocean will love these DVDS. The photography is amazing. The only downside and not much of a big one is that the Sharks DVD was the only one in the set that is truly 3D (Based on showing on my Sony 3D Bravia and my Epson 2030 3D projector). The other 2 discs play in simulated 3D which is just not the same. A small but disappointing problem. The Sharks DVD will wow you in true 3D whereas the others do not. However that said it is still a wonderful and educational DVD collection.

The best 3D I've ever seen
This is an amazing set. I wish all of my 3D movies could be as well done. There were times that I caught myself holding my breath because I felt as if I was under water. The 3D effects are just that good. The fish, whales, sharks, turtles....all swim in your living room. Add to that the educational value and you've got a winning set of films. I cannot tell you how much I love these! If you want to awe your guest with amazing 3D this is the one to show them.

Beautiful, educational, & moving.
These films are beautifully shot and you will feel immersed in the serene world of the ocean. The videos had me moved to tears because of the tragedy of what people have done to our ocean’s and it’s wild life. These films are a must see for our future generations of young people so that they can learn about the importance of saving our oceans while we can.

Interesting but not great 3D
To my surprise of the three discs I found the one on Sharks the best with the Ocean Wonderland next. But the one on sharks covers more than just the sharks which is why it came out ahead of the other two. I bought it for 3D effects and bit disappointed in that. Especially the disk on Whales which just did not come across well in 3D but that may have as much to do with subject as the photography. Some 3D scenes are ok but overall not that great. Still, it was interesting and while repetitive in places worth adding to collection.

Loved Ocean Wonderland !!!
Jean-Michel Cousteau's Film Trilogy (Dolphins & Whales/Sharks/Ocean Wonderland Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) [Region Free ]If you own a 3d tv and is looking for a blu-ray with lots of pop-out scenes, Ocean Wonderland 3d (one of the 3 discs) is the one... Not much of pop-out moments to boast about from the other two discs ie, Shark, Dolphins and Whales... except on a couple of scenes... So if you are after Pop-out moments in 3d Blu-Ray discs then Ocean Wonderland is the one among these three...Some reviewers mentioned about not so impressive narration but I found it helpful. Above all, what i loved the most about the ocean Wonderland disc is the message it conveys at the end emphasizing on the importance of preserving our worlds natural wonders and I would recommend distributing it as an educational / public awareness Blu-ray disc in 3D...In a nut-shell:Disc 1: Ocean Wonderland - All 5 Stars - considering the POP-OUT EFFECT WHEN VIEWED IN 3D and the message it conveys...Disc 2: Dolphins and Whales - 3 Stars only - I thought 2D viewing would have been no different/ not much of 3d effect.Disc 3: Sharks - 4 Stars ... Again I think not much to be excited about 3D other than a few moments when compared with Ocean WonderlandWhat I did not like:1. No Labeling on the Blu-ray discs,I had to personally write down on each discs say 'Shark, Ocean wonderland etc.2. Duration of the Discs is a tad too short for my liking...Thanks for your time hope my review helps... Excellent underwater photography without the gimmicks.
These discs have received many negative reviews and I have to agree with some of the comments, particularly the truly awful commentary! However, I think that many of the comments about the video quality is unfounded. Underwater is a hostile environment and poses a range problems for video photography. The water is not always crystal clear, the lighting is generally outwith the control of the photographers, cameras have to handheld and the subjects are wild animals and not subject to direction. Given the nature of the subjects covered the standard of photography on these discs is generally of a very high standard. These videos were originally produced for 3D IMAX screening and benefit from viewing on a big screen. The 3D effect is very subtle and natural and adds a great deal to the viewing experience. It is NOT overblown and gimmicky as you find on many releases. These are wildlife documentaries and do not require gimmicks. They are NOT intended to be 3D demo discs. If you want demo quality, spectacular 3D effects, look elsewhere. At their present price they are something of a bargain, but be aware of exactly what are buying and you will not be disappointed.

Best ever Blu-ray 3D
Currently I own more than 30 Blu-ray 3D movies including several IMAX movies and cinema blockbuster movies like Avengers Assemble, Hugo, Transformers 3 etc., but simply nothing is better at showing 3D effects than these movies. Actually the content is even better and more impressive than BBC's Blue Planet, especially the Dolphins & Whales is fantastic, although the title may sound boring, but do not judge a book by it's cover ;-) The Sharks movie is great too, especially the great white shark, and Ocean Wonderland is simply beautiful. So this is the Blu-Ray 3D reference - and I do not know how these IMAX people pull of their utterly amazing 3D effects with object seemingly popping out of the screen. Currently I have seen no cinema blockbuster movie being able to do this just partly as good as these IMAX movies (the Hobbit did not do it even in the cinema at 48 FPS 3D, Hugo was great, but no great popping there either...). IMAX movies also seem to put much more strain on the eyes (I use active 3D glasses on a Samsung 3D plasma), so about 40 minutes per movie is a perfect running time.Subtitles are matched in depth to the object in focus, so you do not have to jump attention back and forth between focus objects in the movie and the subtitles, this is how subtitles should be done in 3D movies!

Great 3D but too short!
I would have enjoyed longer videos with less repeated scenes between each of the three videos.
