Works great for me
I've had this for 3 years and it continues to work great. It's small enough not to get in the way of my driving view and the video is very clear, even at night where I can still see license plates. It comes on when the car is started so I don't have to worry about powering it up. My car doesn't have any sensors in front to notify me if I'm too close to the vehicle in front of me but this does. It also alerts when I change lanes (likely good if you drift in your lane). My only nitpicks are I wish the volume could be turned up louder, the app isn't the prettiest, and twice this year it told me it could not record because the sd card was corrupt. It's never happened before so I don't know if the temp extremes in the car is affecting the card. You can easily reformat it tho within the app or on your computer. I sometimes have issues connecting to the app when sitting in front of the device. Most of the time it's because I have a VPN running on my phone. That will definitely keep it from connecting so turn it off to access the app. Otherwise, I would purchase this again, I'm quite happy with it.

Couldn't be happier
I love these dashcams. I had bought the top of the line Viofo and BlackVue first but they didn't give me what i wanted even though they were the top rated. I was looking for more of a surveillance camera to use the motion detection more than anything. But, both my cars have 5% tinted windows in the back which the Viofo nor the BlackVue could see through at night. Thinkware has the Ultra Night Vision which shows very very clear in the pitch darkness of my street at night. I would recommend to get your tint installer to cut out a tiny piece to where the rear camera sticks because with the weight of the camera and the heat it can start to hang a little. It hangs only in one of my cars because i went cheapo with my tint installer that time but i just adjusted the camera a little bit and its perfect, no problems. Viofos app did not work for me so i immediately returned it(i have an android), and i couldnt see through the rear window at all at night. BlackVue's app is very nice but could not see through the rear window and also you need a subscription in order to see more than 10 videos a day or so, don't remember. That is pretty dumb in my opinion. I payed for a very expensive dash cam and can't access all my videos in one day🙄. Thinkwares app is simple but easy to work around. I recommend getting the 32gb sd card(cheapest) and then buying from amazon the samsung endurance 64gb+ sd card for much cheaper if you need more storage. The 32gb would only keep about 5-6ish hours of motion detection and since i swap my cars out every 2-3 days i needed more storage. The camera also tells you if theres been a parking incident once you turn your car back on. Also, if youre obd2 connector is not being used, i highly recommend the Thinkware obd2 connector. Makes installation much more simple than to have to connect to your fuse box.

Will drain your battery and company will not stand behind their product
We bought this for our 1yr old 2021 Rav4 in July 2022 and had it installed by a professional. In January 2023, while across town picking up my son from sports practice my car died. I jumped it but it wouldn't hold the charge. Being a new car I was able to get a tow to the dealer, but had to wait 2hrs.. across town with my son. Toyota had the car for 2 days testing it and replaced the cars battery. They couldn't figure out what was wrong, but the battery was done. We had our suspicious it was the 6 month old dash cam but weren't sure as we've never had a dash cam before. July 2023 we bought a brand new hybrid Lexus RX and we pulled the cameras out of the Rav4, leaving the wiring behind. We had it re-installed in the RX. November 2023 and we go to use the car on a saturday morning and the car is dead. We again call for a tow truck, to boost our new hybrid. He can't boost it and he can't charge the battery up. Have the car towed to the Lexus dealer. The battery is done and they will replace it. This time, we pull the SD card out of the car and check it. The files left on the card that are not corrupted show lower battery levels than it should be. The files after that are corrupted and then it stopped recording all together. We get our car back and and put the SD card back in and the camera just clicks. It won't even turn on. We are now 4 months past the warranty on the dash camera. We call to ask Thinkware what could be the possible issues, as we have the same camera in our new 2023 Lexus ES and are concerned about that car's battery now failing us. Thinkware support tells us to change the threshold of low voltage so that it will turn off sooner. As far as the one that is broken and has caused as so much trouble.. well.. maybe it was a bad install.. well, we paid a professional to install it, twice, in two different cars. Well.. we can pay to have it repaired. Well.. my problem now was, do I trust that this company has a quality product and that the other camera is not damaging the battery in my other car as well? My answer would be confirmed by Thinkware customer service and their management. They do not stand behind their product more than the 12 months warranty (at this point we are at 16 months). They types of issues we have had and the extreme inconvenience and expense, apparently not an anomaly that they would stand behind. We have removed the camera from the other car (it is 6 months old - maybe I should have sent in this receipt) and will be speaking to the professional installer that we bought the second one from about different brands. Don't waste your money on this camera. If you get a faulty one and it kills your battery so that the dealer can't even re-charge it, you will be out the expense of a new battery.. and be stranded wherever your car happens to die. Worst, Thinkware doesn't even care. You may as well buy whatever Chinese brand for this level of quality.

Decent camera but horrible settings
Update: it was the wiring from ground to the battery that had issue and replacing that fixed the issue. It has been reliable so I am upping it to 4 stars. I have audio ques on so I know if there were any alerts while parked so it makes it’s round of announcements on start up, which is probably the biggest complaint on this dashcam. I prefer it over BlackVue now that I have had it for a while. You cannot choose what announcements it makes when it turns on, so it is all or nothing. This means if you want audio ques, you will get announcements (Continuous recording started, on your mobile device connect to wifi start with Thinkware, GPS connected) or only get absolute silence. It does skip the wifi portion if you connect it to a hotspot and it appears to skip the wifi annoucement even if it doesn't connect to the hotpot. So it may be possible to just have it connect to your home wifi. The app also did not properly give me the options to connect to hotspot and had to delete the app and download it again to get it to work. The recordings seem pretty good and I liked how the camera is shaped compared to the cylindrical ones. However, my package did not come with the hardwire components and also the external battery failed after 1 week. Quite disappointed in this product and will be returning it.

Reliable, Easy Integration, and Great Costumer Service
The high quality footage and easy integration have helped me to love this product. I used the hard-wire setup that I purchased to hard wite it into the car so that it always remains charged. As such, I can't speak to battery function of plugging it into the 12 v outlet in the car. Mounting the camera was simple and the guide easy to follow. The app used to connect to the camera works well. The camera has a network you can connect to that will transmit information to the phone without the use of cables. I found that I would lose service when connected since I had wifi calling selected on my phone (my house had poor phone service). Once wi-fi calling was turned off, I no longer experienced this issue and could be connected to the camera and use my data. I believe that was more of an issue with my phone settings than anything else. The camera continues to serve me well and exceed my expectations. I recently had a problem with my hardwiring set up - not due to quality of the product but due to other reasons. ThinkWare quickly replaced the product and their customer service was excellent.

Quality Dashcam
I recently installed the Thinkware U1000 (front and rear) dashcam in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Installation was fairly easy, and I opted to use the Echomaster OBDII cable for power since switched power/fuse access in my particular vehicle is under the hood and is hard to get to. After installation, everything came up and the camera resolution and quality was very good as expected for this higher end dashcam. I do have an issue with automatic power cutoff when after turning off the ignition which is most likely an issue with the OBDII module. I'm currently working that issue with customer support (a bit of a wait to speak to someone, but very helpful).

Unit is failing after 1 year and Thinkware support is garbage!
I have this unit attached to a Cellink Neo 6 battery system so it stays powered up all the time. I also run high endurance microsd cards to minimize video loss and maximize quality. I purchased this unit to replace a defective Viofo A129 pro duo 4k system that failed right away. That unit had slow file transfers but this unit moves them quickly to my phone over 5g. The mounting hardware is high quality and the cameras stay put on my windows without any vibration. Nightvision is great and it caught some riff raff casing my neighbor hood the other morning at 3 am which I cannot show as it marks my home with gps coordinates. It also does very good driving in full sun and in cloudy conditions with varying levels of traffic around. I can read the license plates of cars near me, something that my Nextbase 522gw couldn't do. I've heard people complain that this unit is too chatty but it hardly speaks at all and never says anything while I'm driving. The only time it talks is when setting it up or accessing the menu otherwise it uses soundbytes to communicate its activities. I'm adding the radar module to enhance parking mode and it should be here later next week. BlackBoxMyCar is also shipping me the Cellink to Thinkware splice cable which should further my parking mode run time. All in all I wish that I'd just gotten this unit the first time instead of messing around with those other cheap camera systems and ending up disappointed. I'll try to update my review with some driving footage from around town next time I go out. Edit: Amazon only allows one video per review so I've included the front view. Edit: Its March 2021 and the unit is failing to go into parking mode. It just powers off when the ignition gets turned off instead of going into parking mode. I'm using a Cellink NEO battery that's giving it 14v when the ignition is turned off yet it just dies like no power is being sent to it. Thinkware customer support is worthless as I keep telling them what the problem is and they keep telling me to do things I've already told them I've tried. This unit costs too much money for this BS! Edit #2: I ended up buying a new unit so I could have a functional camera. After writing this review Thinkware had me ship the malfunctioning unit to them and only after I provided them with the receipt again did they admit that the unit was still under warranty and shipped me a new unit that works normally. So now I have two of them but I bought an extended warranty on the second one. We need more players in this space so people will have more choices.

Connection success. time to celebrate
Amazing camera, getting cloud service to start is a pain in the A$$ i purchased this for the cloud service because i am a techy and a gadget geek and an I.T specialist and it took me a week to get it connected to my hot spot so prepare to learn new cuswords. That being said, it works great. i love all the features about it and its worth the money. During my week of hating it. i did eamil tech support and no response, i then called thinkware and spoke with someone about the hotspot connection issue and had my original email pushed and that was a week ago and still haven't heard from them. dont hold your breath if you run into issues. there is a specific way to get this connected, do not follow thinkwares videos on YouTube. read threads about the connection and you will get it. once you get it connected it works great. and obviously you need a constant hotspot connection to use live veiw.

Excellent camera quality
Amazing video clarity....works as described. I got this hard-wired from a professional and am glad I didn't attempt myself as I might not be able to install this neatly.

Perfect dashcam
Purchased from blackboxmycar seller here on Amazon, arrived packed properly with all the contents inside, everything working, driving with it for almost a month, no problems so far, all this time did not reboot it or anything, works stable, picture quality is good, using it in 2k60fps mode, wifi works ok, not sure how parking mode remote view works though cause the camera disconnecting from hotspot once it goes to parking mode, everything else is good

A 5 star dash cam…….
A truly excellent product. I found a helpful video on U Tube for installation of both front and rear cameras. The picture quality is amazing and the Thinkware app has a wide range of settings and very easy to use . I highly recommend this product for great quality and well worth the price. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent Camera Quality
Overall we’re very happy with the camera system. The image quality is excellent. The setup was reasonably easy, but you do have to read the instructions carefully. We purchased two of these bundles, one for each of our vehicles. We did contact Thinkware support through Live Chat before buying and Tyler was very helpful. We also added the available Radar module to each bundle. When you first mount the camera on your windshield, it looks almost too big, but once you’ve driven with it a couple of times, you don’t notice it at all. Pros: - The software for viewing the video works on a Mac or PC. - The video transition from daylight to lower light (ie: garage or parkade) is excellent. - The system reports the number of Parking Mode events on startup. Very useful if you want to get out and do a walk-around of your vehicle before driving away! Cons: - Removing the memory card from the camera is awkward. While it’s possible to connect your phone to the camera and download the video directly using the Thinkware app, we found that to be very slow. - Once you’ve joined the camera to a hotspot it defaults to that setting and you have to select Wi-Fi each time if you choose to use it. Those are just a few things we’ve noticed with using the system initially. The negatives are minor, and definitely outweighed by the positives, and we wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again.
