Really pleased with this soup maker. Easy to use and the soup turns out really well. I like a smooth soup and this does the job and only takes 21 minutes once you put your veg etc in to the machine. Well worth the money in my opinion. Wish it had a reheat button though.

I don't often write a review as most products just meet my expectations, however, I had to share my thoughts on this soup maker. I've never used a soup maker before and thought it would be another kitchen gadget that would join the many others in the loft. Not the case. This product is fantastic. My first try was a simple leek and potato soup. I didn't know what to expect but I followed an online recipe, finely chopped leeks, onion, garlic and potato (with skin on, don't even need to peel them). Shoved it all in the soup maker, added 800ml veg stock, salt and pepper and switched it on to the smooth setting. Walked away and went back when it was bleeping 21 minutes later and found 1.6 litres of piping hot, perfectly blended, tasty and hearty leek and potato soup. So impressed. At this price point, I wasn't expecting much, but this product is really good. Does what it says on the tin and makes great soup. Easy to clean, no mess, no fuss and makes a good quantity if you want to batch cook and freeze. As it's so quick and easy, I actually make my soup while I'm getting ready for work, then pop it in a flask and take it red hot and fresh. If you like homemade soup, I highly recommend this one. More expensive brands will probably have lots of fancy settings on, but this is fuss free, quick, easy, and makes great soup.

This is (or was) an excellent machine for 7 months, we've used it at least 3-4times per week and it does a great job. However, yesterday morning the serrated blade for smoothing came adrift and was lying in the bottom of the machine when I emptied the soup out. The blade is fastened to the motor shaft by a nylock nut and spring washer so at first I thought it would merely be a matter of re-attaching and re-fastening it. When I got the items cleaned I then saw that in fact the drive shaft had sheared. The lower part of the shaft (about 8mm) is threaded to take the nylock nut and it the shearing had occurred just where the threading starts. I contacted Daewoo, who told me to contact Amazon for a refund. That is now in process, and the second part of Daewoo's suggestion was to buy a new one with the refund. I now doubt whether I'll do that, because while the machine is excellent when functioning, I wonder whether this shaft-shearing might be an inherent flaw. I looked for some info online, and while I did not find references to this kind of failure on a Daewoo appliance, I saw that someone had the exact same problem with a Morphy Richards model. Interestingly, photos of the Morphy Richards showed that it looks externally identical to the Daewoo machine, so I think its a safe bet that the internals are also the same. The broken shaft is made of stainless and it's quite surprising that the "resistance" of chopped bacon bits, diced carrot, diced potato, and a handful of lentils plus water & seasoning could cause an approximately 6mm dia solid round bar to snap so readily. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it's brilliant at making delicious nicely-textured soup, and because I can not be sure whether this is a common fault or a relatively isolated one.

I used to make soup quite often just using a saucepan and blender, but after my blender burnt out, I haven't made any for a couple of years. However I've had a longing for homemade mushroom soup and decided to bite the bullet and go for an all in one soup maker rather than get another blender. I went for the Daewoo because I've had good experiences with their kitchen products before, being long lasting and well made and this soup maker is no different. The package comes well packed, so no chance of damage in transit. Out of the box you have the metal chassis which is basically a kettle, the lid which includes the blender element and a power lead. The instruction manual is pretty straightforward and explains usage clearly. My mushroom soup was simple to make, just put the ingredients in the pot, put the lid on and switch it on. You then select what you want. For mushroom I went for smooth which performs a double blend at the end, and press start. The whole process took 21 minutes (so 25 minutes with prep) and the resulting soup with some cream and fresh parsley was delicious. The consistency was very good, exactly as I'd expect. In terms of power consumption, the unit takes a bitof energy to get up to temperature, but once there it pretty much ticks along like a slow cooker so isn't expensive to use at all. I'd guess that 1Ltr of soup has cost around 15p in electric to use. Overall I'm really happy with it. Does exactly what I want it to do ( plus milkshakes and smoothies as well as chunky soups) so I'm happy to recommend and rate as 5 stars as it exceeds my expectations.

So far I have used the product 4 times: parsnip soup, leek & potato soup and 2 lots of broccoli soup. Very pleased with the results. This is the first soup maker that we have owned, and I don't regret choosing the Daewoo. I checked the reviews of several soup makers before selecting this one, and all seem to have received mainly good reviews with a small number of very worrying negative ones. I therefore decided to take out some insurance cover for this appliance for an extra fiver. The max and min fill levels are not far apart, so we will always be making the full 1.6L of soup, or close to it. This equates to 3 generous servings, and I have purchased some 600ml storage containers so that I can store soup in the fridge or freezer. Unlike some others this soup maker does not have a dedicated cleaning function, but is nevertheless very easy to clean. The soup compartment is lined with stainless steel and needs little more than rinsing out. The upper part is smooth plastic and just needs a wipe over with a wet cloth or sponge. A little care is needed when cleaning to avoid getting water into the electrical connections between the top and the base. Making smooth soup takes just 21 minutes in the soup maker, but preparing the ingredients can take several minutes, so allow plenty of time for cleaning, peeling and chopping up the ingredients. I found the instruction book easy to understand, and it includes a few recipes. Each time I made soup I included 2 vegetable stock cubes with the ingredients and found the results to be delicious, at least as good as any ready made soup I could have bought. It is early days but so far I am very pleased with this item, and wish I had got one sooner. Update 8 months later: I am still very pleased with this item. Some people have asked about the soup maker cutting out every minute or so, and this has just happened to mine. I believe I caused this to happen by making the soup too thick, i.e. too much of the solid ingredients and not enough liquid. Specifically I added a whole can of green lentils with most of the water drained off, and lentils are known to be a means of thickening soup. The cutting out seems to have been due to the soup maker overheating. I let the process continue to the end which took a lot longer than normal due to all the cutting out. The result was some very thick soup and a little burned matter on the base of the jug. Conclusion: it is good to know that the appliance is protected against overheating.

UPDATE - AFTER USING SMOOTH SOUP MAKER LESS THAN A DOZEN TIMES, THE BLENDER HAS STOPPED WORKING THEREFORE REDUCING TO 1 STAR, WINDOW OF RETURN PASSED 😔 used quite a few times now. Followed review tips and drizzle oil at bottom before putting veg in. Love the fact that I can just leave it for either 21 mins for smooth, or 24 mins for chunky. It beeps just before blending and again, for a minute, when finished. So far I've not needed to blend any further when finished eg parnip soup was silky smooth. I didn't appreciate that you need to chop veg slightly smaller than when making in pan (but that may be me being overly cautious). However, once all chopping is done, just ensure you don't go over, or under, the lines with your hot stock. Easy to clean - I tend to serve and leave remaining to cool, decanter then pop some hot water in, press blend, then simply wipe clean. The blending unit is also easy to wipe clean. This machine has made making soups so much easier, less of a bother and makes 4 large bowls or 6 smaller sized ones. Great for using any leftover veg in fridge then freezing for later. Will make smoothies with leftover yoghurt and fruit when needed.

I ordered this Daewoo soup maker as a gift for my wife for Christmas. She's wanted one for ages. I can do a full review once it's been used, but for now review it on the basis of the same model that a friend has, which I was able to see in action before buying one. This is really easy to use. It takes all the effort out of making soup. There's no need to spend ages cutting up and cooking veg as the soup maker does it all for you. It's a decent capacity; certainly big enough for a family of 4. This really makes light work of soup making. My friend brought theirs into work to make soup. It tasted delicious. That's all down to what ingredients you use though. .overall, as an initial review, I'm pleased that I bought this and look forward to making our own soup from now on. The overall size of the soup maker is also good as it's not too big, so won't take up too much room in the kitchen. Update: were over the moon with this. It's so quick and quiet in operation. Hot soup in under half an hour with no mess.
