Good for it's size and features
This is not my first Leatherman, and my purchasing it was primarily to review it for a possible gift for friends and relatives.I don't really think that there is anything about this within its limited scope that makes it a bad tool. As a multi-tool, it is severely limited. The knife is a very essential tool for most things, and since carrying a Leatherman I have found a good pair of pliers to be essential, even if I don't think that I need them in the course of a day.I've included a photo that compares the Jaws of the pliers to a standard pair of needle-nosed pliers, a Leatherman Surge, standard vice grips and standard channel locks to give an idea of the size. This is very helpful if you have a reasonably small, close space to operate, but it is not going to win any awards for yanking bolts off of machinery. Worth noting is that the length and shape of the handle while open is not exactly comfortable to hold for jobs heavier than holding wire, but your milage may vary.I have mixed feelings about the knife blade; the serrations go about halfway up, and they work well for ripping and tearing into plastic and laminated cardboard well enough. Sharpening these isn't as easy for a normal user, but they do allow for the blade to cut into material when the primary portion is dull, with some usability.Something that bothered me about it was that, while they don't advertise it to be more than the sum of its parts, it seems to me like they could have at least included the interchangeable screwdriver bit tool that Letterman uses on their larger tools inside some material in the handle that is basically wasted space. A very close second to this gripe is that the price point of the item is just a little steep for something that only includes two actual tools. And on one side, there is a small tab that curls over just beneath the tip of the folded knife blade that can catch on things if you aren't too careful.Beyond this, considering its size, it is remarkably robust for the functions that it does provide. And the pocket clip, while Spartan, does allow for it to be carried enough out of the way to be able to grab other things from a pocket where the stool may be stored. And the knife blade lock-up is fairly solid, even if the grip is a little bit short compared to something like a Skeletool.I will definitely recommend this as a gift for most people who are not "Tool-people" but are apprehensive about getting something like a Swiss Army knife, due to the lack of locking blades on most basic models of those tools. Also important if the pliers and the knife blade are the only tools any person will need in their day-to-day functioning. I have known a few people who have accidentally cut themselves with Swiss Army knives who's blades did not lock, so that is worth mentioning. While it is somewhat heavy for what it has to offer, and that it offers very little compared to similarly-priced tools, what you do get is of significantly better build quality and is of enough utility to justify its purchase, if this criteria is what you are after.

I bought a backup
I love this multitool enough that after a year and a half of carrying one, I bought another just in case I lose it. I've carried a clip-on pocket knife every day for the last 10 years, and this is by far the most useful. The blade deploys easily and holds an edge very well (and I'm picky, I used to carry a Cold Steel Voyager before I got this). Most importantly, though, it's almost as small as a basic clip knife alone, but comes with pliers. It's small enough to fit in my pocket with my cell phone without rattling, and light enough I sometimes think it fell out somehow and have to check that it's still there. The clip is good, too. I've had several knives where the clip either didn't hold it in my pocket when sitting in deep, soft furniture, or whose clips stuck out and scraped things like cars when I brushed against them. This does neither and except for the Cold Steel clip, it's the only one I can say that about. The pliers have a very narrow point, which is extremely handy for little jobs like bending wires or retrieving small screws from tight spaces, but I've yet to find any way to damage them. They are extremely hard steel, and I don't think a human hand is strong enough to hurt them. The one downside is that the curved handle is super-awkward when using the pliers if you hold it the wrong way. Right way around, it's fine, but sometimes I forget and hold it backwards and the point of the handle digs into my palm painfully until I swap it around. It's a minor irritation, but worth a mention.I think everyone should carry a pocket knife, and I think most people would do well to have pliers on them, and this is both in a compact, secure package. I don't think I can go back to carrying just a knife again, and other multitools are much too big to be convenient. Hopefully, though, if I ever manage to lose both my Freestyles, they'll still be making something similar.

it's a Multitool.
As a left handed person I find myself using the plier and always pinching a finger because of where the foldable knife is. its okay as a multitool, but there's better options out there

review after 5+ years of usage
I purchased this in dec 2014 and have carried it nearly every day. I love it for the most part because its small and not full of useless gadgets. I use it a lot. I'm writing this review because I'm finally in the market for a replacement. One major issue with this knife is the pliers. Without fail, every time I use them I end up pinching my palm very badly. Usually ending with blood blisters. It's also really uncomfortable to hold as pliers. I've been pinched one time too man so now I"m looking for something new. Besides that, the knife has been exceptionally sturdy, small, lightweight, and useful. The blade works great and I love that there is a small serrated part of it. I'm hoping I can find a knife with a similar size but better pliers. If not, I guess I'll continue using this for another 5+ years.

Lovely piece of kit
Very high quality as you would expect from Leatherman. Knife is very sharp. I noticed the picture is incorrect on this product so be careful to make sure this is what you want. The tool has:- A half-serrated knife- Pliers and wire-cuttersAnd that is it. As a knife it's great. Pliers would be better if they were spring-loaded as its quite awkward to open and close them by hand.

Lesser man
Even though this product is very well made and looks good it is very limited in it's use, it is basically a pen knife with a pair of pliers. I love the design but it would be a much better product with a few more attachments.

Handy tool for small jobs
This is a nifty little tool if you just need to do a small job quickly. Would use it for any heavy duty jobs but if you need to quickly cut or grip something and you can’t be bothered looking for its proper counter part this will do the job

Meh - it's okay
In retrospect I probably wouldn't have bought this. it's more a set of pliars with a little knife thrown on. Build quality is 4/5 in that the blade doesnt line up in its sheathe properly and the mechanism had to be tightened somewhat. If you want a foldable pliars with a knife on it, then go for it. If you want a multitool or a everyday carry knife, nah... look elsewhere.
