Ripped Off
I got totally the wrong book. It was not the size advertised (but much smaller), it did not have a symbol on it, the print was so small my wife (it was for her birthday) can not read it, and it was not leather bound. I sent feedback complaining to the seller, and got no response whatsoever. My wife liked it, because it was still nice looking and "It's the thought that counts," but I did not like it - because she cannot read it, but now uses it as decoration (print is to small)... She still uses mine to study, but this was to be her first Bible bought just for her. I will buy another of course, but I got ripped off on this one.

A Pocket Bible To Be Proud Of.
This is an excellent edition of the New Jerusalem Bible. It's small and compact, perfect for putting in a handbag, briefcase, backpack, etc. The translation is beautiful, perfect for setting under a shade tree for a relaxed, peaceful reading. Some people have complained about the size of the type and a lack of extensive commentary as in the large, highly annotated edition, but what did they expect in 6.4 x 4.6 x 1.7 POCKET EDITION, especially when the first sentence says, "Contains the complete text of the Regular Edition, WITH CONDENSED NOTES AND INTRODUCTIONS (emphasis mine)."Honestly, this is a beautiful Bible, the real leather binding is smooth and elegant to touch, with gold lettering on the cover face and spine. It carries the Nihil obstst and Imprimatur so you know it is an accurate translation that contains the complete canon of 73 books. The text is appropriately sized for a small volume and the type is crisp and clear, and has text headings in bold type, which makes it easier to find a particular passage, and it also has a marker ribbon. I love the supplements that are located in the back - a theological glossary, a chronological table, an index of persons (with the book, chapter, and verse where they are mentioned), and a table of measures and money. This New Jerusalem Bible is the finest pocket Bible I have ever seen, and I'm proud to have it in my Bible collection.

I will never 'loan' out one of my bibles again!
This has always been my favorite translation of the scriptures because of its poetic beauty and prose; and trust me, I have many different versions, including some side-by-side ones.It is in excellent shape for a used book, especially as it can be a very hard translation to find. This is a beautiful and poetic translation of the scriptures that any Christian faith can appreciate. The Catholics chose to add six more books to the old testament than the Protestants did. This decision by the Protestants was due an uncertainty over the authorship of the six writings. This was all done back in time when the Protestants and the Catholics met together at a special council, I believe it is called the Niacin, or something close to that, and decided together how to align all the writings and letters that had been found over time and in what order to put them. The culmination of their work is what we now know and call the Bible today.I was jumping with joy to find this translation once more.

Wonderful Version
I've wanted for some time to have this Bible version in my library. I'm not disappointed. It's easy to read and discuss. Readings from this are very effective for an inclusive congregation.

wonderful translation confusing description
I love the Bible, dislike the confusing description. I have been trying to access a leather bound version of this Bible for ever, and everytime I am promised one I keep getting sent a hard bound copy. The translation is so wonderful and my all time favorite for reading but to have it in a hard copy makes it hard to carry around, hence my desire for a more portable leather(soft) version. This was advertised thus but what came was not. Disappointing but twice this has happened from Amazon and another seller so perhaps "leather bound" got lost in translation too...

THIS COPY IS LEATHERBOUND LIKE THE EDITION I BOUGHT IN 1985
I ORDERED MY COPY FROM SANTA CLARA BOOKS. IT ARRIVED IN BRAND NEW CONDITION THOUGH IT WAS PRINTED IN 1985. THIS COPY IS LEATHERBOUND LIKE THE EDITION I BOUGHT IN 1985. BUT THIS COPY WHICH IS RED INSTEAD OF BLACK AND SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT IN PRESENTATION ON THE COVER IS THINNER. IT IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR. I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY.

Product is not as described
This maybe an updated New Jerusalem Bible, but got me so angry I did not look. It has no index, no foot notes. Why did they sell this Bible with no table of contents etc

:/
Was not as pictured. It is a New Jerusalem Bible but not black, it was a little wet but I left it out dried quick. I gave it to my kids, they can use this one to write in
