A good buy 🐢
The media could not be loaded. Upgraded because my red eared slider got too heavy for his floating basking log.Pros: More open space in the tank for him to swim. Easy assembly and install - fits perfectly atop 20 gallon long tank. Turtle spends more time basking in this Turtle Topper than he did on the floating basking log. He took about a week to start going up into it.Cons: the ramp is too short - you have to keep the water level high enough in the tank for the turtle to be able to reach the climbing ramp. The suction cups that attach to the side of the tank don’t suction/hold securely. Initially the turtle couldn’t “grip” the plastic ramp to climb up. He figured it out eventually though.Great addition to the turtle’s tank - it adds space while saving space & the turtle enjoys it.

Fits well
I was worried the ramo might be hard to climb on but its not, my turtle is bigger so a bit heavier so her weight holds her down but she can do it, don't mind the light on the plastic its new so i need a stand for it. this product is good and better than the one pet smart has for 71$ or something because the size is odd and also the ramp is NOT climbable for petsmarts. its sturdy because it has suction cups but i only put it on one side since the other side is too close to the wall. looks nice, plasticy but nice. havent tried cleaning it yet but should be easy with a brush. lightweight as well

It Saved Our Turtle's Life - LITERALLY
Man was I skeptical at first. I never thought our Eastern Painted Turtle would use this thing. But he LOVES it!He was not well cared for prior to us getting him. His basking area consisted of a pile of rocks pushed to one side of the tank as to create an area above the water level. When we got him, the previous owner just told us to occasionally pile the rocks back up because the turtle would naturally knock it down as he climbs on it. This was a disaster! He never had the opportunity to fully get out of the water and get dry. Which is very important for these animals. We tried a few other floating platforms on the market, but he was too big and really could not bask properly with any of these products. Then we bought the Penn Plax Turtle-Topper.... What a life saver. And I mean that literally for our new pet. He had a terrible fungus on the soft parts of his body, his shell wasn't vibrant. He seemed to struggle when breathing. His shell is 7" long and he was living in a 20 gallon tank, only partially filled with water, an improper basking area, and no sufficient light (one lousy UVB strip, but now heat). There was no room to even swim in that small tank. We changed all of this and the Turtle Topper was the main driver of a very healthy and thriving turtle. He now lives in a 55 gallon tank which is filled almost to the top. This is only possible with the Turtle Topper. He has ample room to swim. He now has the proper light above the topper as well as a ridiculous amount of filtration. The first 2 - 3 weeks after this new set up, he went through an unbelievable transformation. First off, his shell and skin underwent a complete shedding process. Scutes were falling off like crazy. His skin started shedding but in a good way. During the day when his UVB and basking Bulbs were on he would spend 90% of his time basking. At nights he would go back into the water. It amazes me as nature tells them exactly what they need and when they need it.He breathes easier now, eats better, swims great, looks amazing and is just overall very happy. I attribute this all to the perfect design of the turtle topper. I can't stress enough how important it is for your turtle to COMPLETELY be able to get out of the water and dry himself regularly. No other platform does that. Here are some before and after pics of the little (actually big) fella.

Great Concept
I love the idea, and with a little altering it actually works pretty good. The issue I have is the ramp. They can get up it, but The incline is way too extreme for the type/style of the texture used. For humans the "stairs type of texture" works amazing. But turtles don't work that way. They have an easier time climbing rock walls. No joke, I filled the tank to the top and I feel so bad watching them still struggle to get up. Adding a little makeshift mat will allow for their claws to grab hold of the ramp. That was my only issue to be honest. Great product, slack texture design.Very easy to put together and install. Clear top doesn't secure to the main structure but I'm really not worried about my turtles trying to pull an escape act. Still a decent product and would recommend, especially now that it's 15 bucks cheaper than what I got it for. Figures

World’s greatest aquatic pet turtle product!!!
Finally, a company that has made the world’s greatest aquatic pet turtle product!!! It shows how scientifically advanced we have become, only you have to supply the lamp. My turtles were at first shy of it, but it only took a matter of minutes and less than a day for them to start taking turns climbing up into the enclosed platform to bask. The clear top is movable with ridges to clamp several lamps, from both sides, and a metal grid door on top that can open if you need to insert food, etc. into it. Everything is made super easy. I have five mapping turtles. The size is great for them and the topper fits on my 37 gallons, near perfectly. Make sure you measure the size before purchasing. The only natural setback is that the turtles can get spooked from the clear plastic and hop quickly back into the water. I suggest covering the clear plastic with plants or other décor to provide them with a more hidden environment and hence they are less likely to get spooked, but also less visible when they are in there. Overall, it is a great product for aquatic turtles!!!
