So easy to use
setup is a breeze thanks to cleverly designed software that has done all the work for you. The manual is well-written and illustrated, and since the unit is made in the UK doesn't suffer from being translated from another language. After the first day you won't need it anyway. If you've got a freeview box then you can record a digital programme while watching a terrestial channel which is good enough for me. You can't watch a digital channel while recording another digital channel, but how often do you need to do that anyway? For that you'd need two tuners in the device which would bump up the price. With a freeview box you can even make timed digital recordings. It's so easy to record onto a DVD while you're in bed then pop it into the laptop for viewing on the train to work. All in perfect quality. When you look at the price of DVD recorders that don't have a built in VHS recorder then you'd have to agree that this is excellent value for money.

Good but not perfect
I've had the machine for a few days now. The recording onto DVD (standard play) is good and the video to DVD copying is easy. The audio on my tapes recorded on my old VCR is poor, although older tapes and pre-recorded tapes are OK. Altering the tracking helps but it's not perfect. So don't get rid of your old VCR until you've recorded any tapes to DVD! Unlike my old VCR, the 8150 doesn't put out the playing tape signal through the co-ax output, only through the scart socket and video sockets. So you can't 'pipe' the signal to other televisions through a distribution amplifier as I used to.To turn the 8150 into a multi-region player, go to the 'system information' screen and type 1101. The region selection box will appear with a '2' against it. Replace this with a zero and the word 'free' will appear.

Truly Excellent
This is my first piece of Daewoo equipment, so I was a bit unsure of what to expect - especially at the price. All I can say is that I am very, very impressed. The build quality is excellent and the features/capabilities are very comprehensive. The Quick Start Guide and the User Manual are easy to understand, but if you are new to this technology I would recommend that you spend a bit of time reading the manual cover to cover before you start recording in order to get a full overview. Having done this, I found that once I started recording, I very soon got the hang of it. I thoroughly recommend this machine.

Amazing
I wanted to record my old home videos onto DVD, but I already have a decent DVD player, so looked for a cheap combi set to do this task. Only bought it at the weekend, but totally amazed at how easy it is to copy and impressed with quality. Just have to work out now how to record my freeview as it has only recognised analogue tv? Any ideas?

Superb
Did not buy this from Amazon but from riptons which was £30 cheaper at the time, but has gone up slightly now. Away this is a great product, I have just set it all up and tried it out with the Ricoh DVD+RW disc that came with it, recorded from TV, copied a DVD and also recorded from my camcorder via dv. Works great but do read the instructions and follow them with regards to connections. I have a cable decoder (2 scarts) and my TV has 2 scarts, and it is quite important which scart lead goes in to scart1 and which goes into scart2.
