Simple, elegant, and revolutionized my free time.
So this lapdesk is essentially just a slab of wood. That being said it is worth every penny and is the best lapdesk i have ever owned and far exceeded my expectations.I purchased this lapdesk to replace some aging POS I got from Bed Bath and Beyond.First, while it might be just a slab a wood, the wood is solid, lightweight, and sturdy. It feels wel crafted. The angles of the cuts and beveling simultaneously allow for a compact design while making me feel like my available surface area is more than I could need, all while being comfortable to place on my lap. The vent holes provide adequate ventilation and during this summer my ASUS ROG with a GTX 870m GPU and i7 CPU has not had any heating problems whatsoever, despite me using this desk in bed with covers. I have not had any discomfort with the bevel edges of the vent cut outs scraping my bare legs in shorts or anything, but if I could make one improvement to this it would be to sand another small bevel to the underside of the vent cut outs. The rest of the wood desk feels like a solid, single piece (because it is) and the grain is even aligned in a pleasing manner. I have had no issues with my laptop sliding or moving on the surface, and the wood texture makes the PC feel almost "glued" in place, as if they were one piece, even while tilting it to get up and move about or surviving a random toddler attack. The embedded mouse pad is of high quality, with supple yet firm yield and smooth transition from pad to desk surface. I see no indications of it wanting to come up or the edges fraying any time soon. The pad is very large and can accommodate games with fast reaction times and wide view swings (frantic FPS and the like). It overall is a tad narrower than a traditional gaming mouse pad (by about an inch or less) but it is taller and that extra room is appreciated when doing other tasks like reading long web articles. The material feels like a roughed felt texture, smooth on the mouse by not aggravating to your wrist or hand as you glide it across the surface. The tablet holder works wonders, but it will not hold most tablets that are in a protective case. This makes sense as if it accommodated most cases, some cases still wouldn't fit and most not in cases would not fit either. It fits my 10.1in GalaxyTab Pro just fine but I often find myself using it to hold my phone, baby monitor, or 7in tablet instead. I have not utilized the power cord cutout, but it would work fine for my 10.1 in wide mode, but it wont really work for smaller devices except as a method of cord organization. Works well with my wife's iPad (3rd Gen). All in all this desk has revolutionized my free time. Now I can easily and comfortably move my 17" gaming laptop around while never being cramped for space on the work surface. I can sit on the couch or recliner and surf the web or play any game I want while my wife watches her TV shows and I don't have to go into another room or sit at a desk. The height of the computer and mouse when the desk is on my lap makes it comfortable to use even for long periods (2-3 hours) and I find I can sit up against the backboard in bed with the same results. When moving to a new location the mouse area has enough space for my mouse, headphones, baby monitor, phone/tablet, and ac adapter for the PC without them feeling crowded or screens getting bumped. The beveled edges and solid construction make it easy to pick up and move my heavy pc with ease. I couldn't be happier despite the hefty price tag.

Best Lapdesk On The Market For Your Gaming Laptop
If you want the best lapdesk on the market for your gaming laptop, look no further. The HoverX is a premium lapdesk, perfect for my Acer 17' V17 Nitro Black gaming laptop setup with a Logitech G700s. I have 2 other lapdesks, a 15' Logitech lapdesk and another one that is comparable to the Lapgear Lapdesk and the HoverX easily outshines them both. I have a home theater where hooking up my tower is not an option. I stumbled across this and found that it just works perfectly in there, allowing me to PC game on a projector from the comfort of my couch. Thanks to the bamboo, it isn't absurdly heavy even though it is rather large and doesn't feel imbalanced on your lap even with a heavy 17' laptop. I saw another reviewer suggested an actual fan built in, but this would way add too much bulk and is NOT necessary, as their design actually dissipates heat pretty well and looks pretty cool if you ask me. This is not a portable lapdesk, do not plan on taking this with you on vacation. The mousepad is high quality and is generously spacious, size comparable to a SteelSeries QCK gaming mousepad. The added phone/tablet slot is a welcome addition, although it does require you to remove your case but it's not that big of a deal if you have an easy slip on/slip off case (so not an Otterbox). The price might be a bit steep and the edges are not rounded so you may experience discomfort when the edge starts digging into your wrist, but I've read about people sanding down the edge to make it more rounded so there is a solution. Overall, this is well worth the purchase after only a few days of use, especially compared to the Logitech lapdesk which I have used for over 4 years.

Best Gaming Laptop Lap Desk
This is the best option out there for a 17" gaming laptop capable lap desk. It holds an Asus ROG 17" with plenty of room and I have an older 17" MSI GT70 and that laptop fits just as well. You even have room to use a laptop cooler, like a Coolermaster SF-17 or Notepal U3. The desk is light and solid, so you'll feel comfortable with this resting on your lap with no fear of it cracking from the weight of a large gaming laptop. The mouse pad is typical of a gaming grade soft style pad. It's nicely inlaid and you have plenty of room on it for whatever your style of gaming or size of mouse. The only issue I have is the tablet slot and its inlaid plastic. The slot fits most tablets with no issues, but you risk the wood scratching your tablet's edge and the plastic inlay does not go all the way down the sides of this slot. If it had foam or rubber within this slot, it would feel less likely to scratch anything. My plastic inlay arrived with chips out of it, but I didn't wish to deal with a return. It was disappointing, but I guess I really wanted to start using this item. The price should have warranted a better outcome there. There is a hole cut out for a connection cable through this tablet slot, but I found that I couldn't connect a couple of devices through the opening. It was too narrow. I also disliked that I couldn't fit my phone in that slot with a case over that phone. The slot was too narrow. When you do use it with a phone without a case though, you can't access the bottom of that phone's home keys, so it didn't work well for that, but of course a tablet worked fine if it had enough border outside of those keys. I stress again that this desk is very nice and does it's job aside for the high price and some flawed craftsmanship spots. Almost forgot, but the shipping box should have been beefier as well. It had protective foam on the ends but if pressure was pushed into the center of this box, it surely would have damaged the mouse pad or something else. My box arrived dented but nothing seemed damaged aside from the chipped plastic inlay, but I doubt that came from shipping. I didn't see any plastic pieces lying within the box after opening it. I guess that could have happened though. Beautiful lapdesk.
