I am a four season bivy bag and tarp camper and bought this to replace my 12 year old non closed cell foam pad. If only one night I sleep fine on pad only (scoop out small hip depression if your a side sleeper), more than a night I make my own comfy mattress out of 2 garbage bags and a combination of crossed pine bough tips, duff and leaves depending on season. I believe in multi use out of any of my camping gear and when this pad is rolled up for transport you will end up with an approx. 3 in. dia./24 in. long hole in the middle which is about 450+- cu. in. of extra storage space in which I can put any combination of 3 16 oz. round containers of alcohol stove fuel or water, tent stakes, drinking cup ect. Being closed cell foam this pad is large enough to fashion emergency cold weather clothing such as a pillbox hat, vest ,booties, lower leg warmer, mittens ect with just a knife and strips of duct tape and is rigid enough for a medical emergency cut to size large wound compress or to bind a leg/arm splint. I've used this pad 3 nights and find it ideal for my intended and possible use.

a different purpose
I am using this camp pad underneath my cat's litter boxes. (he has two) I was using those puppy training pads but he shredded them to pieces. Sometimes he has an accident while using the box so I needed something underneath. Good thing I have tile floors. I think this will work very well as it is water proof and easily washed. I guess if it is sturdy enough for camping, it should hold up. I hope he can't shred it, though. I will write again to let folks know how this method worked. I really am out of ideas.

Not for Gravel camping ground
I wished i had spent more money and bought a cot or air mattress. Felt bad for my hubby who had nothing but a sleeping bag. The camp floor was gravel and this was not helpful at all. With sleeping on top of sleeping bag and foam mat i could still feel the rocks, tossed all night, and woke up crippled. I would not recommend to hubby who is looking to purchase a mat. Im sure its better than just a sleeping bag, but wished i had spent more money on something better.

Great litter mat!
sounds crazy but it's perfect for us. Cheaper than buying the products labeled as litter mats and works the same.
