I've tried several of these USB-C expansion cards. Some say they're self-powered, others use oddball connectors not found on 95% of motherboards. This one uses a simple SATA power connector that most older PC's (that don't already have USB-C), will have in abundance. This card works perfectly. High speed data transmission. Check! Charging. Check! That's all I've ever wanted. Sadly it took my 4th try. But I finally have exactly what I wanted and needed.

This PCIe USB 3.0 expansion card is a straightforward upgrade for a desktop that needs a couple more high-speed USB ports. Installation was simple, and I like that it does not require an additional power connection for basic use. It is especially useful for older systems, workbench PCs, or machines where the front USB ports are limited or unreliable.This is not a fancy card, but it does exactly what I needed: adds more usable USB 3 ports without much fuss. For external drives, flash drives, adapters, and general peripherals, it is a handy low-cost upgrade. I was satisfied with it.

Seems to work well in Windows but not so good in Mint linux . Well it never clamed it was compatable with linux so over all I am happy.

This is a review for the 4-port USB-C card. I bought a new PC (HP Victus 15L, Windows 11) which came with plenty of USB-A ports but only a single front-mounted USB-C. It had one internal card slot so I bought this card. It worked perfectly. No drivers to install.The only issue I have is that my iPads seem to see it as some sort of external device trying to connect to them. It refuses that connection and won't even let me charge them using this card. I think that's more of an Apple thing. Everything else, like my Nikon camera, charges fine. I really bought it for connectivity, not charging. It works perfectly for that.Before you buy, make sure your computer has the correct internal slot for this card. It's a pretty universal connection. But if your computer doesn't have one, it won't magically work.

This is total garbage. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. I'm a computer and network Tech with 45 years of experience. High-end Windows 11 desktop with all updates and virus-free-Simple installation, driver self-installed. The only problem is that IT DOES NOT DETECT SOME DEVICES ATTACHED TO IT. Most significantly (to me) is that it does not detect an attached RAID backup drive...All devices detected with onboard USB2.0 ports, but this does not. Waste of money. DON'T BUY THIS-

Works great, 5 times faster than USB 2, no software update needed.

I had read some of the other reviews that mentioned it was a bit tricky to setup. Sure enough, when I first installed it, the PC would not power up at all. It was behaving as if there was a bus short. I ended up having to re-seat the card three times before the PC would power. It might have been me, it was probably me, but honestly I've never had that happen before when placing a card.I am using the optional power cable plug-in. I've got at least one device that wants a bit more power than can be delivered over the PCI bus.I am running Windows 11. The card was recognized immediately and did not require any other driver installation.So at this point, it is working great. Really good value for money.

Segui las instrucciones, al principio si reconoció los discos Huros que le conectaba, funcionaron todos lo puestos, pero en medida que lo usaba de repente ya no los reconocio en el administrador de dispositivos ya no me eaprecia el controlador, lo reinstabala funcionaa y luedo ya no lo reconocía, termine por desinstalarlo y comprar un concentrador usb con esntrada usb 2.0, no es un buen producto

Got this so I could plug in an external usb c ssd, but the adapter does not recognize the drive. It's useless for pretty much everything you would want to do with it. Only thing I have plugged into it that actually works is a monitor light, can't even use it to charge my iPhone.
