Terribly frustrating product
***Edit****After writing this review, I went back and read again several of the other reviews. I even watched a two minute YouTube video on how to install it. I got mad all over again. I went back and tried to install again with no success. I then pulled the rods out full length and slammed the little one inside the big one. The end cap popped off (flew off actually), revealing the inner spring and the plastic housing. I squeezed the housing. Twisted the rod a time or two. Pulled the little one back out and replaced the cap. Tried to install again. This time it worked. I’m not changing my one star rating. This is a terribly frustrating, defective, anger inducing product.Without a doubt the most frustrating experience I have ever had with an amazon product. The rod itself feels strong and is a very nice color. Like other reviewers, I at first tried to install the rod the “basic” way. After a couple of minutes of frustration I read the instructions. Again I tried. I extended it the length plus an inch. Twisted it and nothing happened. The rod just twists and twists. It never locks. Terrible design. I read the instructions several times. I tried to install multiple times. I read the reviews and have no idea how anyone likes this thing. I’m tossing it in the trash tomorrow where it belongs and ordering a different one tonight.

This tension rod is fantastic! I had no problems putting it up as ...
2nd UPDATE!!!!!Almost 2 years later and still going my strong! Don’t hesitate, this is a very sturdy product!!! especially for the price! I totally recommend buying this product if you need a tension rod of any kind.My husband added a closet to our bedroom. Problem is he hasn't finished and who knows when he will! So decided to stop complaining and I bought this an oversized curtain in place of doors for now. I didnt want damage the wall, so I decided to buy a tension rod. After reading some of the reviews, I was nervous that it wouldnt hold the 100W x 108L curtain, but for the price I decided it was worth a shot. This tension rod is fantastic! I had no problems putting it up as some others had. I just followed the directions and it was up in 3 mins!! It's been up for a month with no problems. It's holding a super heavy curtain and with lots of use all day long. I am very pleased and recommend this product!Update: The bad news is, I still have no closet door from my husband. The GOOD news is, this tension rod is still going strong! I half expected something to happen since there were a TON of negative reviews, but this rod has completely exceeded my expectations. As stated above, it is used to hold a super heavy duty blackout curtain for a 6' Wx 8'.5"H area. The curtain is used as a closet door, which gets lots of use all day long. The tension rod has NOT moved, NOT even a little. I'm super impressed with this rod and wouldn't believe any of the negative reviews. I followed the instructions to the tee. although I did not hear a click, I made sure I twisted it enough to ensure that it was set in place. I admit I was super nervous about this after reading some of the reviews, but the reviews could not be more wrong. Don't even hesitate, buy this rod!UPDATE: over a year later, STILL HOLDING STRONG!!!!!! Has not moved an inch with daily heavy use!!!!

Broken? Probably Just Goofy.
First let me say this thing could hold up a small child once installed properly. The first attempt resulted in extreme failure. Would not tighten and the spring failed to work. This rod is designed to tighten down about an inch longer than you need and the you squeeze it into place from there. The mechanism for ours did not adequately tighten and resulted in us getting no spring tension when trying to install. Upon disassembly I found that the nut that tightens the plastic mechanism and expands it within the tube was stripped and I had to manually force it through a few rotations to get it freely spinning again. Once that was completed this thing tightened like no other and I was able to squeeze it in place. If the bar was thicker metal I am confident it could hold a grown man. It is in there right. All in all, not happy I had to waste 10 minutes tinkering with it to get it to work but I am glad it hold as strong as it does. Much better than the twisty ones.

it worked great. Unfortunately
I bought this rod for use after our bathroom remodel. When I purchased it, the bathroom was not yet complete, so we did not use it for about 2 months after it arrived. Initially, it worked great. Unfortunately, that was short-lived. After about 3 months of use, the rod came crashing down. We thought, no big deal, we will just rehang it. . . wrong. The mechanism inside will no longer thread or hold tension so now we are unable to use it.

sturdy tension rod for under my kitchen sink
I was looking for a short, sturdy tension rod for under my kitchen sink. It's to hang all my spray bottles on, thus, freeing up a lot of space. This did the trick as it's plenty sturdy enough for the job and does not slip regardless of the weight hanging from it. I may buy another one for the bathroom sink to hang my hair-dryer and other sundries on.

Look what these can do!
Ok, first let me say these are quality shower rods. Rubber tipped on the ends for grip. Beautiful white no rust paint, instructions on the rod as well. Here’s where things get weird in my house. My dog keeps punching through my porch screen so he can make his own door. I’ve replaced twice, but he’s like a hammerhead shark and he wants that door. My porch is basically white metal frame with floor to ceiling screens sections. I needed a solution that would keep the jackhammer on the right side of the screen without damaging my frame. Ta da! Tension shower rods! I spaced them close enough to keep his head out and still have the benefit of a screened porch. And no damage! Here’s a pic...

Can’t readjust this tension rod
It is SO ANNOYING that you can’t resize this rod after it’s initially set up. I decided to try it with less than 1” extra length first because I’m using the rod to hang curtains along the side of a loft bed and didn’t want there to be too much pressure between the bed posts.Well, when I went to lengthen it just a bit more, I couldn’t release the setting, so it’s stuck where it is. I want to return it but it no longer fits in the box it came in (face palm). So disappointing for such a nice looking rod.

Sturdy and well made
I wasn't sure this would work for my front door which is in a recess but it fits perfectly with room to spare. I have used 2.5" diameter curtain rings with it and they only just fit over the end pieces. Anything smaller wouldn't work with this rod. The rod itself It came sensibly packaged in a long triangular tube type box and took all of two minutes to fit. Once in place it seems very strong. I am using a heavy cotton king size duvet cover as my door curtain and it appears to be as strong as a regular curtain rod which has been drilled into place. I certainly have no worries about the curtain falling down anytime soon. I will be ordering more of these!ETA: (27/9/19) I've just bought two more of these rods to put up some curtains to help keep the house warm for the cooler weather and one of them came in an enormous box...Amazon, couldn't you have just stuck a label on the actual tension rod box instead of all of this extra cardboard?!

It's very strong!
Well, what can I say? It's a shower curtain pole and it does as advertised.I've had frustrating and anger-inducing experiences in the past, as I'm sure a few readers of this review can relate to, after purchasing for want of a better word, crap tension poles that slip, fall or break, but this was a pleasant surprise. With easy to follow instructions, once tightened to the desired length it's a bit of a struggle to pull or push down the extendable part of the pole, but when fitted into place it holds up excellently. Recommended.

Useful and Solid
I use these to hold regular curtains wherever I need: dust curtain for DIY, window curtain where I haven't got regular poles up yet, to put an extra curtain up in the window recess during really cold weather, impromptu door curtain, anything but a shower curtain so far. The quality is excellent and I would absolutely buy again.

Shower rail, not for net curtains.
Bought for net curtains in a window 145cm wide. We'd seen net curtain tension rods before so were expecting a little narrow diameter pole to discreetly hang our nets on. This is a chunky beast, an inch in diameter. Not really suited to net curtains, but would be ideal for a shower rail.

So easy to install, looks great, and really strong
I was a bit sceptical buying this, but I’m so pleased I did. It took literally 5 mins to put up, looks permanent, without any of the hassle and mess of fixing and drilling.. the area I needed to cover was 216cm so I ordered the longest length available in this product and it has worked really well. I hung 2 semi-sheer linen curtains on it, which aren’t as heavy as block out curtains but definitely much heavier than shower curtain material and the pole does not bend or move at all even when I tug and pull at the curtains to test the strength of the rod. Really really impressed, so I thought it deserved reviewing! Never usually leave any reviews for anything
