I bought this September of 2010, and it is still working as well as it did on the first day I had it (over a year ago).I use this for homeschooling purposes. I have 4 kids (ages 7 through 2) who use it to stamp their school work as well as all their artwork (I like to keep artwork but like to know what date each child drew/colored the piece so I know how old they were at the time). So this stamper has been used regularly at least 10 times a day for the last year. It was also abused several times when it was found by my daughters very rough 7-year-old male friend and other friends who seem to like stamping it like crazy, non-stop for over a minute... I was not pleased with what the visiting kids were doing to it, but I was thrilled to see that it worked as good as new even after this abuse. ...I just remembered that my 2-year-old (when she was only one) also abused it from time to time, but I allowed it since she seemed to be having so much fun!If mine ever does die, I won't hesitate to buy the same product.Edit: I just read the other reviews and I must add that my fingers have never gotten ink on them when I'm changing the date (which I have done every day for the past year).

I work in flight test for the USAF and this stamp gets used over 200 times a day. I bought it myself to replace an old one we have been using for about 3 years. Stamps are no longer provided due to budget cuts. I bought this stamp on 16 mar 2015 and estimate its usage so far over 3000 times and still working as good as the day I brought it to work. I came up with the 200 a day number just based on preflight services orders that I counted date stamps on, I didn't account for other services orders we deal with day to day. Anyhow, works great and can take a beating, we use the hell out of it.

This is a very convenient date stamp as it has a self-contained inking pad that re-inks the stamp between each use, so a separate ink pad is not required. It includes detents so that the stamp can be temporarily locked in the down position for changing the date without having to try to hold it there with your fingers, and then released for normal use. These detents are also useful for removing the ink pad tray to re-ink the pad with minimal fuss. The only caveat I have about it is that it is all plastic construction, so you need to use it somewhat gently - in other words don't stamp your papers really hard with it or you might break it. If you are careful in the way you use it it will give you years of good service.

The ink in the stamper wasn't very dark for being new. The dials also were a little difficult to turn for the date. Other wise it is decent for the price.

Crisp characters. Easy to operate. Just the size I was looking for. I did wind up getting the "ecco" version even though that was not the version shown in the picture. I think the ecco version just used recycled plastic instead of virgin plastic, no big deal. It is small so yes, if you are not careful your fingers will touch the inky parts when you rotate the "dials" so just watch what you are doing.

I purchased this item for my grade 1 students to use. The old stamp that I have used for years just fell apart. After putting the ink pad in (without directions because none were included) I attempted to adjust the date. The design of the stamp is significantly flawed. You have to hold the stamper in the compressed position with one hand while turning the adjustment wheels. The wheels are so shallow you can't possibly move them without getting ink on your finger tips. By the time I had adjusted all parts, I had 4 finger tips covered in ink! That might have been okay if the ink were washable but after a day of laundry, washing dishes, even removing nail polish my finger tips continue to be stained black. This ink is more permanent than any Sharpie. I suppose you could put on a disposable glove every day to change the date but that seems a mite ridiculous. Needless to say, I will not be allowing my students to use this stamp. I just threw away $8 that could have been used for something else in my classroom.

My wife and I make a practice of dating mail we receive, such as bills, statements, brochures, flyers, etc. This date stamp work great, easy to set the date and does not require a separate ink pad. I should have bought it a long time ago. I definitely recommend it to anyone that has to date printed material often.

Received this self inking stamp promptly and tried it out right away. It works great! The ink doesn't run or smudge and I can read it very well on our gift certificates and incoming docs. It's easy to change the date, another stamp I had was very difficult - so this is wonderful!! This stamp is also pretty compact - which I like. I'm very happy with this purchase, this was much cheaper here than at any local store!
