Uses old Thunderbolt 1/2 and drives we Hitachi from Feb 2013
I returned the product before ever using it as it did not match my expectations. I did expect that the drive was using the old Thunderbolt 1/2 port but it would have been better if they had actually included a picture of the ports. What I did not particularly realize is the difficulty in connecting Thunderbolt 1/2 to a Thunderbolt 3 port (it appears only Apple offers an adapter that, of course, comes with an Apple level price of $49). The bigger dissappointment was the drives installed in the unit were Hitachi drives manufactured back in Feb 2013 (it was written on the drives). I was expecting Western Digital "Red" drives which are optimized for use in RAID devices.
