The High Achiever's Guide was dead-on and gave me a much-needed lift!
I was honored and grateful to receive an advanced copy of The High Achiever’s Guide by Maki Moussavi. Maki’s book arrived at a time when I really needed a lift. Her writing displays a level of genuineness, authenticity, and transparency uncommon to many other books I have read on mindset and success. She really connects with you and cares about helping her readers by sharing her story, adversity, and the lessons she learned along the way. One assurance I took away from the book was that many of us, especially high achievers, are struggling with similar challenges in our lives. We are definitely not alone. The chapter that resonated with me the most – and is worth the price of the book by itself – was the chapter called “Toxic Fumes,” which focuses on working with other people, especially leaders and bosses, who create a toxic environment. It’s as if Maki knew exactly what I was experiencing in my workplace, and I have never heard anyone describe the issue of toxicity with such clarity and dead-on detail. A few quotes that stood out:“Toxicity can be obvious, but it can also fly under the radar, impacting you in a vague and disquieting way that you have a hard time articulating.”“It’s like a poison that you continue to breathe as long as you tolerate interactions with people who do this to you.”And the big one:“To be told repeatedly that what you have seen or heard…happened another way, or that your perception of what happened is invalid wears on you, making you question yourself rather than stand firmly in your conviction that you do, indeed, know what you experienced.”Another chapter that I needed at the time is called, “What are You Worth?” Here Maki takes a deep dive into doing what lights you up, taking care of yourself first, and the scarcity mindset. Again, she seems to know me better than I know myself sometimes. What I appreciated most about The High Achiever’s Guide was her mentorship on every page, her direct and no-nonsense communication style, and her ability to offer solutions to the issues many high achiever’s face.In my presentations on Working Toward Excellence, I always encourage my audiences to “stand out in a culture of fitting in.” While many people just want to fit in, belong, and do what everyone else is doing, those who work toward excellence stand out. They do things differently, they think differently, are uncommon, and don’t run with the masses. This is what Maki Moussavi and The High Achiever’s Guide offers. A different perspective, a breath of fresh air, and a mentor who truly cares.

Maki's book is hands down the best career focused self help book out. In addition to the motivation throughout the book, Maki authentically shares her personal experiences and lessons she's learned throughout the book. Each chapter has been impactful to different times/area of my life and I suggest it to all my friends/family/coworkers.

A quick, fun to read, life changer—order it!
Over achievers tend to fill their calendar, leaving little time for reading or much other “self care”. I promise it’s a quick read and you’ll be able to “squeeze” it into you day (or night).Maki gets a tremendous amount of motivation, inspiration and instruction into this little gem; and her writing style is humorous and completely relatable. You will recognize yourself in her stories and feel very understood in your continual pursuit of being awesome.

And the truth shall set you free!
The High Achiever's Guide is not your cookie-cutter self-help business book. Maki is a prolific wordsmith whose authenticity resonates in every line. I felt like I was sitting with her over cocktails, soaking in the wisdom of a favorite aunt or big sister. This book is for every woman who values keeping it real, longs to be herself, and is pushing through road blocks towards success. Job well done!
