Great! Better HDR, refresh rate and image quality than the Asus XG438Q
The setting to enable 2 * Display Port connections to give you true 4K 144fps works on both Nvidia and AMD GPUs. The setting is hard to find as you have to scroll down 4th from bottom of a 2 page 'System' menu to enable "4K-144Hz Mode". This is not obvious as the down arrow to even figure out there is a second page of settings is tiny and you will miss it, like so many before me. You'd think a headline feature would be near the top of the first page. Half the world complains this monitor doesn't even work at 144 because of this, and Acer staff are incomprehensibly incompetent over the matter with at least two official forum posts from Acer themselves stating that dual DP port 144 fps is only supported on AMD cards. That out of the way, it works amazingly at 144 fps, driven by an Nvidia 2080ti using 2x Display Port 1.4 cables, which also gives enough data-bandwidth to also run in 10bits-per-pixel HDR mode. There is some vignetting caused by the fairly narrow viewing angle if you sit too close, but it's not really a problem. Once 'in game', it's not really visible. The non-ulta-wide form-factor of this monitor is initially confusing. Remember, ultra-wide monitors are usually not full 4K, often ~1400 pixel in the Y-axis. This monitor is 43" diagonal, which means it's 37" wide. Therefore, what you're actually getting is 2 'ultrawide' letterbox monitors joined together!! When you think of it like that, it really does make a lot more sense that buying a single-ultrawide and just look at a game through a compromised letterbox..You will without doubt need to put your desktop colour scheme into 'dark' mode, or it'll burn your eyes out if you have it on your gaming desk, like I do. The peer-group alternate, the ASUS ROG Strix XG438Q HDR, is only DisplayHDR 600 complent, not DisplayHDR 1000 as this monitor is, and the Asus only does 120fps, which is rubbish for high-end gaming; when you've play 144fps, you won't go back. At 1000 nits full HDR, it really pops, and 144 HDR really needs 1000, not 600... Which is why the Asus is lagging behind. Asus are a 'has been' company sticking their logo on any old crap, as many negative reviews will attest to.In general, the monitor is as expected, a middle-high-end 144fps VA panel. Viewing angles area perfectly fine, but not quite IPS grade. DisplayHDR 1000 makes HDR games really pop, but not OLED grade. But then it's not £3.5k OLED, it's only £1.2k. So in this peer group, it's outstanding value and well rounded in every respect.HDR titles really do look AMAZING though, I mean, REALLY!If you're a high-end gamer coming from true 144-165hz, then you must get this over the Asus XG438Q.Some setup things to note, when you set 4K resolution, they default the windows screen scaling to 300%, which is way too high (this is Windoze, not the monitor doing this), and 100% is waaaay to small, I'd say go with 125% in the windows control panel.People also say the sound quality of this monitor is not great, BUT, again, it's actually Windoze fault. Just go to Control Pannel > Sound > CG437KP properties and set the equalisation to 'Loudness' and et voila, great sound - in the context of what a TV built-in system will ever be expected to do in this price-point.** Update. After I bugged them directly, Nvidia literally released updated a driver to really make this monitor look amazing, particularly text was not as crisp as it should have been, as the other reviewer suggested, and frame output was slightly slow when the monitor was set to 144hz overdrive. The frames are now output at a true 144hz, and it's sublime!I love it, and would buy again. Fire any questions at me.6-Month update. Still performing faultlessly.

Still work great after 7 months!
06/05/2020 Update Notice: Maybe this is caused by freesync glitches or when you launch old games like supreme commander forged alliance, happened to me last night, before playing old games, in acer menu/system turned off the 4k-144hz mod06/05/2020 Update Monitor is blinking : if after overclocking your Acer to 4k-144hz mode your monitor stuck in the blinking, first unplug your DP2 "secondary displayport" your monitor stop blinking, then in acer menu/system turned off the 4K-144hz mod "your resolution back to default 120hz/8bit" then go into nvidia control panel/change resolution/Redresh rate still you see 120hz/8bit "don't close nvidia control panel/change resolution/Refresh rate you need this for last step" then in acer menu/system turned on the 4K-144hz mod, this is important: After this your monitor blinking again don't do anything, just pick up your Acer controller and pressing fast that top left input selector "not Acer menu" this trick make your screen going to hold for few seconds "after couple times blinking" then you need FIRST set your Refresh rate at 144hz then apply "doing it fast as you can" Remember, every time your monitor blinking, your mouse course is in middle of screen again.just for know: in nvidia control panel/set up multiple displays if you not at 144hz mode and using two display port, right click on non-primary display/then clone it, this make you identify two display on one display 1I2Update 04/05/2020: After i read the "Bob" review and a little searching in google, he is right, 144hz its works perfectly with Nvidia gpu.Notice: For getting 144hz and 10bit: in Acer menu/System set your input/DP1 "display port 1" and set Auto Source/OFF then scroll down and set 4K-144HZ mode/ON.Just for know: You need set your two display port as one display port, if in Acer menu you not setting up your input as DP1 "display port 1" and not turning OFF your Auto Source detection, you see two display in nvidia control panel/set up multiple displays at 120hz/8bit " i did not find anything about this in google or acer official forms "its for more bandwidth or just setting two displays as one for process/correct something?Still work great after 7 months. With two EVGA geforce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra watercooling block in Division 2 at 4k with high settings i can get near 100 fps "without stream on twitch" with stream i can get 60~70fps in combat areas, in normal areas i get 70~85fps, with ultra settling i get barely 60fps in combat ares. in Destiny 2 in all ares i get 120fps. remember for get in 144fps you need AMD card. i really like this monitor, a little expensive but it's worth it. highly recommended as long you can save money.

Stunning 1000-nits of pure HDR brightness!
Stunning 1000-nits of pure HDR brightness! Beautifully rich 4K UHD resolution at 120hz refresh rate connected to 2080ti. Half the price of the smaller X27, brighter than its competitors at half the price. Not even the 3000 Dell 55 OLED comes close, worth every penny. Highly recommend. Google search benchmarks, phenomenal.
