Kenmore Washer door lock switch 461970200692

I had the door latch and the "catch" on the machine both break. Since I have older machines, I didn't want to put a lot of money into fixing them, and considered just buying new at this point. Well I bought this part and the companion part to fix my old washer (because both broke from the machine shaking so violently). I was able to look up how-to videos on YouTube and took apart what was needed and replaced both. You can do it! While I had it all opened up, I could see why the drum shakes so violently on certain loads and probably could have ordered the parts and fixed myself, but that was going too far for me for such an old machine. (I did get the two broken attachments for the struts/shock-absorbers put back together and carefully duct taped the attachment pieces to hold for a while!) All these parts on the washing machine that broke are plastic! Of course plastic is not going to hold such forces for a long period of time. All the companies use plastic parts! Save yourself some money and fix your washing machine door latch yourself! Order this and the other part, if needed, and you can do it!

This part worked great to fix our kenmore elite he4t. We started realizing the other issues that caused this part to fail while installing it. The shocks on the bottom of the drum were the culprit-we only had one shock still intact-thus the noise, the "bucking" and the violent shaking which popped the original latch. The drum even "bucked" so bad that it hit the soap dispenser unit and broke it-thus we had a leak also. Easy fixes, not real cheap, big pain in the butt.

Replaced in under 10min but this seems to be a refurbished part. The hook that catches the door latch does not seem to be as sturdy as the original. You can see from the images where the "Made in Germany" text was smoothed out. Shutting the door feels like it has to be forced and not as solid as it was before.

Installed this 3 yrs back, it did make the unit work again but I still get occasion door codes from time to time. If you own one of the HTE KENMORE units you know how "e;electronically buggy" these are. This part will fix your problem but like others and myself it will come back gradually with in time, getting more and more frequent.I did the repair myself go to you tube and you will see some videos. Its not that hard to replace just need to work with the seals a bit. I did it, so can you. :)

This door lock-latch is an electronic item for safety purposes. Once installed it was as dead and nonfunctioning as my original. Return was easy and I got a refund and then paid more for one downtown that works. This just set me back a week or two because it was DOA.

Third time buying one of these, got a spare this time. Either the part is failing it the washer is screwing it up somehow. When it fails, door lock won't disengage. Would be great if screws were included. The originals don't go in easily and they tend to strip, now I have to go out and find replacement screws, fun.

After a few years of hard use, the lock cracked and prevented us from doing laundry. After finding the part number, we ordered this and it fit perfectly. Happy to report, the washer performs like new.

So happy my washer is fixed! My husband put the Kenmore door lock switch on the washer in just a few minutes and the washer lock was the problem. The new part is still working great.
