The Better World Shopping Guide: Every Dollar Makes a Difference

Handy guide
The Better World Shopping Guide is a handy pocket or purse-size book that makes it easier to choose products from environmentally friendly companies. I gave it four stars because there are several products the book does not cover. Still, it is a quick reference for most trips to the grocery. I like the premise that each dollar we spend is a vote for the types of companies we wish to support. If we could all make an effort to purchase from companies ranked A and B, we could make a big impact on our environment and on the lives of those working for those companies.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book!
This is the best little book - I call it my Bible and I wish everyone would use it.Giving even one penny to any of these company's that receive a D or lower is really stupid. The amount of damage they do to the environment and most how much they effect people's live is horrible and I wish people would realize just how much power they have.Oddly the money they accumulate for themselves ALL come from us and we keep giving it to them. For your own sake - please stop!I personally don't give them a single red cent of my money and this book really helps. It's small and I keep it in my purse.

Great little pocket guide
I'm trying top shop more conscientiously these days and this Better World Shopping Guide really helpswhen I'm trying to decide which products to purchase! It rates products from numerous categories based onthe company's economic and ecological responsibility. It is helping me to weed out companies who put the 'almightybuck' before contributing to a safer planet! I also like that they include a list of the top 10 Best Companies and the top 10 Worst companies! I do wish it had a more extensive list of companies...but then it would nolonger be 'pocket-sized!

Not what I was expecting.
This little pocket book is pretty cool and easy to carry around in a purse or bag. It was definitely an eye opener on the companies I buy from and will come in handy for that reason. It also lists quite a few companies which I liked as it gives you options for who to buy from. I thought it was also based on the companies products and how healthy they are for you, not just the packaging of the product. So it is disappointing in that it wasn't meant for what I thought it for. Also, it seems like it would tack on an extra hour of shopping to constantly pull this little guy out to check where the company sits.

Excellent little guide for how to vote with your dollars
I am very pleased with this book. I received the first version as a gift 6 years ago and this updated version is just as informative as the first. The best part of these books, in my opinion, is that they boil a lot of research down into a very accessible little guide book for people who want to support environmentally responsible companies with their dollars, and just as importantly, want to not support environmentally irresponsible companies. Capitalism in action. The sections titled "The 10 Biggest Success Stories" and "The 10 Biggest Disappointments," which list the companies that have made the most strides forward or backward since the first version of the book, have been particularly helpful.

Get your mind astir.
This book addresses questions all global residents need to ask, like "how does this purchase affect my neighbors?" In the U.S. A., there are very few goods available which were produced through ecologically and socially responsible means. This book leads the reader to ask questions about unnecessary excess at the store and provides a ranked suggestion of companies to support through spending.#1 WAY TO EFFECT SOCIAL AND ECOLOGICAL CHANGE: LOOK INTO JOINING A C.S.A. Helpful and informative
Helpful guide in making decisions about what type of company you wish to support. It is a primer in how to be a conscientious consumer. It is a good idea to use this guide as a place to begin your research, not as an endpoint as companies sometimes move in a positive direction slowly but should be encouraged. I refer to this often as I am changing how and where I spend.

So useful.
One of the excuses for not accepting social responsibility is being too busy to research all the different facets about a product/company. At least that's mine. I'm so thankful for individuals like the author who passionately delve into those facets and give me a great launching point to make informed/responsible choices.
