They really work!!
After surviving the last snow and ice storm I was so excited to recieve my tire chains I couldn't wait for it to snow again! Finally did today and I put them on the first time in about 20 minutes because I had to get comfortable with putting them on. It took all of 5 seconds to take them off though. I got on the roads before they were plowed and wow instant traction no more slipping and sliding "thank the lord!" I normally drive 5-10mph in the snow with my hazzards on. (Yes I'm that person) but not any more! I can comfortably and safely drive now in the ice and snow at 30mph. I'm so glad I found this product! Now it only takes about 5 to 10 min. to put on. I would highly recommend this product!! Oh let me mention, when you first hit the road it feels bumpy as hell at a slow speed. I don't know if it's because the tires are adjusting or what. Once I sped up to 20mph it was a much smoother and quieter ride then I went up to 30mph and even better! I felt bad for the other drivers on the road going 5mph with hazzards on but I clearly understood! I felt like I wanted to drive along side them and share my news ๐. Buy this product - so worth the investment! UPDATE: 2-12-19 Took a total of 10 min to put on my tires this time. Drove in an ice storm today and it was AMAZING. I felt safe and fully in control on the road. No more white knuckle driving- buying another set to have on hand just in case I need a back up! Get these- you will not be disappointedโค

It served its purpose
I was worried they would break because they looked cheap and light, but we drove home safely during the Tahoe snowstorm this weekend. 1st time drove on snow. I bought 2 sets, but we only needed 1 set for the front wheels plus the chain rubber tighteners. We drove from 5mph to 25mph until we got down the mountain and took the chains off. Easy installation after watched the YouTube videos of the same type of chains. Glad that I bought 2 sets and kept 1 as backup. I shared this link with my friends, who drove back the same day and had their SUV chains fly off or break. They ended up driving back with 1 wheel on chain. Glad everyone got home safely, so get your chains before your car gets on sleet roads.

Insane traction
Extremely impressed with these chains, they will get you through anything, tested in worst conditions possible- they are very thin and flimsy, but work great, in a fwd car, climbed 6 miles with parts having a 10-15 incline (Extremely steep mountian) with 2 inches of ice & 3 inch of snow on top, did lose a lot of steering control but still manageable, (delay, itd slip for a moment then grip and at other times, slide one direction and need countersteering, but it climbed Chains look a little abused after using them in this way, expecting will last a few more similar trips then need replacing, If wasn't such an incline im sure these wouldn't take as much wear and tear

Got a Corolla up and down the mountains of rural Western PA
These got me up and down the mountains of Western PA in the most recent storm that dropped 15 inches of snow where I live, in a 2WD Toyota Corolla. They arenโt magic, they wonโt necessarily conquer every slushy hill, but they will give you traction and allow you to maneuver your way back down if you canโt make it. Very impressed, thereโs some very steep hills around where I am, some of the steepest in the country, and I was able to get up all the ones I needed to. They will get damaged if youโre on pavement for extended periods though, so as roads get plowed, you may need to take them on and off as you move around through more and less plowed areas, but itโs pretty quick. Keep a pair of warm work gloves with the chains in the trunk. Excellent product.

Didnโt fit
Should have tried them on when I got them and not waited until I needed them. They said they fit my tire size but they were too small when I tried to put them on the day I needed them and had to turn back and go home since chains were required

Chains work, but are a pain. They make you long for springtime.
I used these chains about five times during the past winter. Before I used them I watched the installation video on YouTube about five times and practiced installing them in good weather. It was very difficult to pull the inside part of the chain to the correct tension, particularly in the cold. My recommendation is to install them before it snows if you think you will need them. I kept a large, flat piece of cardboard and a plastic sheet in the back of the car in case I didn't install them in time and had to crawl around on the ground. There was no way to put them on without getting dirty. That said, they worked fine as long as I stayed on snowy roads. I followed the instructions about not exceeding twenty miles per hour and the car felt much more sure-footed. The problem is that my routes take me on snow-packed back roads and plowed highways. When you drive on a cleared road the chains make so much noise you feel like you are damaging something. Usually I would get to a plowed road and just take them off (getting dirty). I kept a plastic tub in the back of the car in which I stored the chains when I removed them. They get wet and salty and then the little coils rust, and the rust gets all over everything. By the end of winter the chains had worn in and were a little more flexible and easier to install. I think I can do it in a little less than ten minutes if there is no snow on the ground. If you drive in snow (which gets packed in the wheel wells) and then want to put them on, you will be disappointed because there is no room, even for these compact chains. Put them on ahead of time. They are quick and easy to remove if you don't need them. I put them away, and I'll use them again next year. Once they're on the car, they work as advertised. A final warningโyou will get metal slivers in your skin from the cables. If you wear leather gloves, you are protected but you lose a lot of the dexterity you need to hook these up.

Reliable Snow Chains for Emergency Winter Driving
Reliable Snow Chains for Emergency Winter Driving These SCC Radial Chain Cable Tire Chains have been my go-to set for years, and theyโve proven themselves in icy and snowy conditions. Theyโre lightweight and much easier to store and handle than the bulky link-style chains I used in the past. The design makes them relatively quick to put on and take off, though I strongly recommend practicing in your driveway before youโre stuck on the roadside in a stormโinstalling in bad weather without practice can be frustrating. Performance-wise, they do exactly what theyโre supposed to: improve traction for starting, stopping, and cornering on snow and ice. On a recent trip into the mountains, these chains kept my car steady on steep, slick roads where other vehicles were spinning out. They ride a bit bumpier on plowed pavement, but thatโs true of all chains. They stayed tight and didnโt slip once I had them properly secured. A few notes: * Fit is criticalโdouble-check your tire size against the manufacturerโs chart. * The company says not to use tensioners, and Iโve had no issue with them staying snug without. * After use, I rinse and dry them, then spray with a little lubricant to prevent rust. Stored properly, theyโll last for multiple seasons. * Like all chains, youโre limited to about 30 mph, so theyโre not for speed but for safety. Bottom line: A dependable and affordable set of cable-style tire chains that are perfect to keep in the trunk for winter emergencies. Easy to mount, compact to store, and reliable when you need them most.

Well worth the money! Awesome product!
Game changer, used it in snow storm, didnt get stuck, took maybe 5 minutes to put on the night prior. I didnt get stuck, I drive a 14 camry, if you don't buy it and you get stuck you really are going to be upset. 40 bucks well spent.

This proved to be a good purchase as I required these chains to get up ...
Originally bought one of the sets of chains for my girlfriend but decided to get one for myself. This proved to be a good purchase as I required these chains to get up my hill on New Year's Eve. Although I had 4 snow tires on,the snow tires were useless in the slushy snow. Put the tire chains on and made it up my hill with ease. Great purchase ! Also a good security knowing these chains will get you out of what seams to be an impossible situation. For the price of these cable chains I highly recommend them for peace of mind.

These work...
I logged in just to recommend these chains. This was my first time using them, and they worked perfect. Simple to install, although you will have to get on your knees and possibly back to get the inner lock of chain secure. I was able to get through 1km of rough gravel/snow to my cabin where it was impossible the week before. Note to VW owners...be sure to check the snow clearance as you proceed if its deep. The Jettas are so low that the snow built up as I travelled. I simply backed up slowly to clear, and then proceeded. Sturdy case is compact and perfect for storage. Would purchase again.

Chains were easy to get on, but they were too short to hook together.
There was nothing wrong with the chains. The problem we had was that we ordered the correct size: 215/55/17 and they were about 7 to 10 inches to short. They were easy to get on, but the ends could not be connected.

Good traction, but takes a bit of work to get them on correctly and secure.
A bit more tricky to install on a RWD sports car due to less clearance. Practice getting them on at home in the driveway first. My sports car still had high performance all seasons on them so they were closer to a summer tire. I couldn't even move the car up my driveway on half an inch of hard snow. For RWD car, I found that laying the chains down with the yellow clips pointing towards the front of the car straight behind the rear tires and backing the car up a couple feet before draping them over the tires worked the best for me. It says make sure the links are equal or within 1 link of each other on both sides in the instructions but I suggest adjust it so it's TIGHTER ON THE OUTSIDE WHEEL than the inside by 1 or 2 links. This is so if the chain does stretch or gain some slack while driving and decides to slip off the wheel, it will slip off the outside away from the car. If you tighten the links more on the inside than the outside, then if the chain slips off the wheel it's going to get caught up in your brakes, struts, CV axles, control arms etc. and that is dangerous and will cause damage and headache when you have the cables all tangled up on the inner side of the wheel. After, go for a drive a few houses down then pull a U-turn back home, check and re-tighten where needed (again adjust to make sure outside links are done tighter than the inside). Once that is done mark the links you used so in the future you know. Then the next time you need to use them, tighten the inner link to your pre-marked one, the outer may not make it all the way to it's marked one yet, that's okay. Get it snug, drive down the road 50 yards or so, then go back out and there should now be enough slack to get your outer link to where you marked it previously. Keep a pair of good gloves and a vice grip or two in the case.
