Just Awesome
We had a green algae problem from middle of last year onward. I would get algae along the bottom of our walls even though my Free Chlorine, PH, and Alkalinity were all perfect. I would by some Green to Clean, which would get rid of it for a bit, but then it would come right back days later. Eventually, I just closed the pool last September and blamed it on something wrong with our DE filter. This year, our filter broke so we got a new one (DE again). Same freakin' problem with Algae. Spent another $100 on Green to Clean and Chlorine, and the algae was still coming back along the bottom edges first - and then up the walls and along the floor. After reading a ton of reviews everywhere, I bought 2 bottles of this product. The pool was a pretty bad color of green about now, but we tested and poured the right amount noted this in anyway. We tested in 48 hrs, and emptied/refilled the DE in our filter (no bumping, as that would release a lot of algae back into the pool). We kept doing this ~3 or 4 times over the week (test Phosphate, pour in recommended amt, cycle DE) and we are now back on track! It did cost me ~1 25lb bag of DE, some chlorine, and time scrubbing the pool to loosen up the algae, but it worked! The phosphate level is below 100 now, and the pool is crystal blue. I turned our pump down so it is only on 8hrs per day (energy savings), as well as not having to dump 2 lbs of shock in every few days in addition to my inline chlorine feeder - just to stay ahead of this! We only used up 1 3liter bottle getting our 27' round pool in shape, but we will definitely be checking weekly and using our 2nd bottle thru the summer, closing, and next year. Must have this stuff on hand at all times! NOTES: - If you have a DE filter, expect to cycle the DE at least every day until the pool gets clean. - Don't forget to stir. This is a milky white product, and we thought it was clear for the longest time because the white stuff was on the bottom. Thanks for all the reviews - a huge help! UPDATE AFTER USING FOR 2 MONTHS: STILL NO ALGAE!! This is amazing stuff! Buying some more now (1/2 price) to have on hand for next year. I agree with another reviewer - this is the best kept secret at any pool supply store. Even if you don't have an algae problem yet, you should still get this stuff because you don't want an algae problem. UPDATE AFTER POOL OPENING FOLLOWING YEAR: STILL AMAZING!! I put the rest of my 3 liter jug into the pool at the end of last year, and this year we opened our pool late (mid June), and there was still no algae. We measured the Phosphate levels again, and they were fine. We went right to a maintenance dosage this year. When we opened our pool late in prior years, the pool looked like a swamp. It used to have flies, frogs, and some other weird swimming creatures. We couldn't even see the bottom of the pool. Now, after using this - it is amazing. Will never go back, and I always have an extra 3 liter on hand now!

Fairly accurate on the phosphate educations formula in packaging. Does require filter cleaning post use.

Amazing against phosphates!
Love this stuff for my pool! Removes phosphates quickly, very effective! The easiest way to use this is to get a free water sample from your local pool store, they will tell you exactly how much of what chemical to add. The liquid looks like watered down milk, it has a white milky look to it. No odor that I detect. Not too harsh or hazardous, you feel safe using it. A jug of this stuff usually lasts me 1.5 - 2 seasons in the Northeast US.

Believe the reviews -- this stuff works
If you are having any kind of recurrent problem with algae, you owe it to yourself to try this. Here's my story. We bought a house in August of last year (southern Ohio), which had an inground pool. I've never owned or had a pool in my entire life, so needless to say, I didn't know the first thing about pool care. We got by OK last year, just using shock, algae killer, lots of brushing, and clarifier. The pool was in pretty good shape when we closed it, and when we opened it in May this year, the water looked good. I took a sample to the local pool store, and surprisingly, the only thing they recommended was adding PhosFree. I'd never heard of it, but I bought some and poured it into the skimmer. First half of the summer was great, never had any algae problems. Around mid-July, the algae started coming back. I sometimes would get a little lazy adding shock, maybe waiting up to two weeks to add it, or adding only two bags when I should be adding three (30,000 gal pool). So I started getting more serious, adding the right amount of shock, and using algaecide when needed. But the algae just kept coming back in a day or two. We went away for three days in early August, and the pool was a LOVELY emerald green when we returned. More algaecide, more shock, more clarifier, but the best we could get was a cloudy, light aqua green water. I easily spent over 100.00 between August and September just attacking the algae. Then I remembered the PhosFree I had used in the spring. I checked Amazon, which was selling it at 19.99. The local pool store wanted 60% more, so I ordered a 3-liter bottle from Amazon (actually In the Swim). The bottle arrived with a small phosphate testing kit, which indicated that my phosphate levels were > 1000 (very high). According to the directions on the bottle, I needed to add 1.5 liters per 10000 gallons (less if your phosphate levels are lower), so I should have ordered more. But I figured one bottle was better than nothing, so I just added the one, 3-liter bottle. I re-tested after 24 hours, and was disappointed that the phosphate level hadn't dropped significantly. So I hurried up and ordered 3 more bottles (to qualify for free shipping). But when I tested the next day (48 hours total), the phosphate levels had dropped drastically, to between 100 - 300. I'll add some more, to get it down to under 100, and then keep up with the maintenance dose of one capful per 8000 gal weekly. I'll update the review in a few weeks, to let you know if the algae is still gone. But so far, so good!
