Yes mine seems to work very well I have a 2003 Lexus and put mine in about a year ago and it sounds great. Hope this helps

I don't know what qualifies for shallow mount. I used this to replace the woofer in my ls430 . It fit NP

Just a sub, you need to power it and put it in an enclosure for the correct tone.

Q: Installed in my ls430 wired up for 8om but head is cutting out when bass hits. Any other ls430s have this?

It's factory an 8Ohm sub it should work fine, are you sure you wired the DVC properly? + from one VC terminal to the - of the other VC terminal and then wire the other two terminals to the amp. Also check and see with a multi-meter what the lowest load is when bass hits. Could be this sub has a much lower resistance than the factory sub when power is applied then it's possible it'll clip.
