Not as much fun as it seems.
I bought this for my grandson who although interested up front in what it done, soon lost interest in it when he found out. I think I would be overstating things if I said it lasted three nights - It was used to display Thomas on a wall at bedtime.

Magic
My 2.5 yr old son is story/book mad, and thought that this would be a great addtion to his bedtime story routine. My mum brought him this for christmas and he absolutly loves it, he now has 4 differant storys and almost knows the words to them all (thomas being his favourite). Usually he loves numerous books read to him before bedtime but I can now limit this to 2 with the promise of Thomas on his bedroom wall. The only downside to this is that the storys arn't very long (i am up & down stairs a few times to the shouts of 'mummy' Thomas is finished can I have fishes now!!)

Excellent toy but a little difficult to find new cartridges
We bought this for our 2 year old daughter who is Thomas the Tank Engine Mad. We found it a little tricky to figure out the settings but once we did it worked well. She loves it. We have since bought 101 Dalmations on another cartridge so that she can change stories. We display it on the ceiling of her bedroom and she often brings it around with her. It is one of her most cherished possessions. well made, durable and they have thought of everything. Particularly handy that the focal length can be adjusted depending on what you want to project onto so that it is always in sharp focus. Only problem is getting new stories, but with a 2 and half year old she doesn't mind the repetition as much as me so it's not a huge problem for now. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone.

great gift idea
THis was bought for my 2 1/2 year old for Xmas and a year on its still in regular use. At night if we are all running late, I put on the "video" (which is actually lots of still slides) and it tells him the story, he loved it so much we also bought extra cartridges with Aladin and snow white so he has a choice. An excellent bedtime routine.yes the America accent is annoying to me, but my son doesnt notice it a jot, and I think the other persons projector must have been faulty as mine has never played up, except for when the batteries are low (I use rechargeble so no probs). I dont use the read along facility at all, its pleanty worth its value as bedtime story.Excellent idea, highly recommended

Just Great !
I purchased this for my two boys 3-1/2 and 1-1/2, they both loved it! They take it in turns to have it in their rooms at bedtime!Easy to use even for a 3yr old! The wonder in their eyes of seeing Thomas on their own bedroom wall was worth every penny. The child can either use the remote control to play the story whilst reading the accompanying book or it can be placed on automatic which is narrated( in the usual Ringo style not American), which has volume control.I am just about to order some new stories for it, which I'm sure they will love too!

Don't waste your money!
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 4 yr old. He listens to story cd's at bedtime & was exited that he would be able to see the story as well as hear it. The 'theatre' is extremely tempramental & it takes about 6 attempts at pressing play to get it started. The story is then told in a very annoying american accent and the noise made by the slides changing over is enough to keep the whole household awake. I have never left a review for a product ever, but feel that people should know how poor this is.

Great way to get kids to bed & get them reading
I bought this for my sons 2nd Birthday (6 months ago) and wish I'd bought it earlier. He was never good at going to bed/sleeping but he now loves going 'to watch Pooh Bear'. We have it projecting into the ceiling so he lies down to see it & eventually falls asleep. He is only now wanting to use the books too, which will not only help him reading but gives the theatre a whole new lease of life.Another reviewer critised the narrators voice. This doesn't bother me and, more importantly, doesn't bother my son. The reviewer also complained about the noise when changing slides. This is a bit louder than it really needs to be, but again, it doesn't bother my son. It certainly isn't loud enough to keep the whole house awake. I can't remember ever being concious of it when out of his room and its no louder than the narrator. The only time I actually think of it is when you first put in a new cassette. It needs to find the starting point and clicks through the slides. This can be a bit annoying, but once loaded you don't need to do it again until you change stories. My only real criticism of the projector is the cassettes. They are robust enough but when loading a new one I sometimes find that it doesn't load. When this happens the machine bleeps. If your child is close to dozing but just wants a wee story then it can disturb them. Not a big issue, usually taking it out & reloading it will fix the problem, but this could be made better.Overall I would highly recommend this for any child from ~18 months to 3 or maybe 4 years old.
