Good and helpful device
Got this device for my mother in law. She travels a lot and there is not always internet available to use the translator app on the phone. In general we are satisfied with this translator device. It is lightweight, easy to carry around. Very easy to use and to understand. Has different translation options which is convenient for limited access to other resources. It is not an extremely high-tech technology but pretty good translation level for the price. If you clearly say word by word it will do good translation. Can be extremely useful for the difficult situations when no wi-fi available. Battery lasts pretty long. We mainly use it for Russian language and I can say that translation is far from perfect but still pretty good. Can be a very helpful gift for elderly person who is not very good with technology since it is very simple to use.

This Item doesn't function
This item does not link up with the server which translates the information, it doesn't connect with external wifi in any location where you are traveling, it functioned momentarily at home but anywhere else it will not connect no matter how hard you try , spoke with customer service representatives at amazon and they were dumbfounded and would not exchange or take back for refund , you should take you $ if your thinking of this product and give it to someone.

A vert handy device. Generally, works well and quickly.
This device appears to be well made and is plenty small enough for the pocket. Audio level seems to be more than adequate. It is definitely a useful device for language learning. The offline feature works well with select languages.I my opinion the device is best used for foreign languages that the user have some (even low) proficiency as some translations are a bit peculiar. I have tested the device for translating from English to German and visa versa. I have limited use with Romanian and Russian languages. There are some words that device has difficulty recognizing and translations are peculiar and even nonsensical. Rephrasing will get you on the right track. Translation may not be accurate when cultural information is required. I noticed that the device translated "I would like a Pepperoni Pizza". As "Ich mochte eine Pepproni Pizza" The problem is that German Pepproni Pizza has no Pepperoni as Americans think of it. The phrase "Pizza with Pepperoni and Mushrooms" translates to a better translation as "Pizza mit Wurst und Pilzen. Overall the device is rather good and many will find it to be useful.

You have to spend 2-3 days of learning how to use it before it becomes amazing.
It is very small, and doesn't have a very large storage capacity. You have to delete prior translations every 20 of them or so. I used it in Ukraine and Czech Republic, AFTER I LEARNED HOW TO USE IT, IT WAS A DREAM AND I WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT IT. Give it a couple of days before giving it a bad review. I was going to give it a 1 the first day, then I discovered it was the way I spoke and the words I used that was causing the problem, but by day 3 I got the hang of it, and it works amazingly accurate. Remember, the translator just translates each word you speak. If what you say into the translator isn't what you mean if the words are translated literally, the translation won't make sense either. Phrases like "pick me up at 7:00 PM" makes no sense literally, nobody is going to come at 7:00 PM to pick you up off the ground, the other person will be confused. but if you say, "come for me at 7:00 PM", the translation will be perfectly clear to the other person. If you notice, this translator gives you a choice of about 12 different forms of English. American is one option, British is another option, and Australian is still another option. You'll learn that the machine doesn't translate your words, it conveys what you mean by using the appropriate foreign words, it doesn't translate your words directly. We all have different languages, but yet we all have the same set of thoughts. Once you learn how to use words that convey your meaning when translated literally is the key to using any translator. It you aren't willing to practice for a few days before you get accurate translations, then no translator besides a human one will seem very useful.

Works well when wi-fi connected, not so offline!
I bought this product mainly for it off line translator. When the translator is connected to wi-fi, it's actually really good. But, the off-line future is terrible. Other people have also mentioned this. I followed the instructions and downloaded the language. I tested using Japanese. It just wouldn't work. Or if it did, it was super slow and not accurate. I am not sure about the other languages, but the Japanese off-line future is really really bad. The reason I got it is because my Japanese is okay. I wanted something that I could use in case we go to an area where there is no wi-fi or no reception on my cell phone. I hope this was it. I returned the item, because why would I pay for this when I just could just use google translate.

Great translator!
When I first got this device I thought something was wrong with the screen because there were bubbles on the side. It was a pre installed screen protector which isn’t common at all when buying electronics, atleast in my experience. After the slight learning curve the translator becomes very very handy. There is very little delay when translating. From the time o finish speaking to getting a translation is almost instantaneous. It even has options for dialects (online translation). I’ve only tried that one with Spanish so far.If you want to use the offline translation you have to go to the “Offline translation” icon. Then you look at the top and press where it says “Chinese/mandarin” there it will take you to the options to download several different languages. I just went ahead and downloaded them all. And then once you’ve chosen go back to the previous screen and use the device like normal within the offline app.

Horrible. Does not work
Waste of money. The touch screen does not work in some of the menus and the speak translation completely misunderstands what you say, even when speaking very slowly. I thought it was just mine that was broken, so I returned for a replacement and had the same issue. I will be looking for a translator that works. I was using mine for simple English to Spanish translation.
