Mammut Skywalker 2 Climbing Helmet

This is a good and well built helmet. The construction is dependable and the fit is adjustable lending to a near perfect fit. The helmet does sit high on top of the head (I would surmise because of the potential of falling objects).I wore this on a Mountain Adventure High Ropes Course at Peekn Peaks Resort in Clymer, NY. There were 9 High Ropes courses in total to engage. On the last course (Double Diamond), I had to hook up and free fall off a platform 50 ft up. I jumped out a bit too far which caused my momentum to carry me back into the tree. I hit my head pretty hard on the tree and would surely have split my head open but luckily I had on my Mammut Skywalker 2!I am grateful for its protection but I wish that it sat lower in the back because the knob on the head band cinching system was what made contact with the tree (and not the helmet shell), and my head. The impact left me with a sore lump that I think would have been avoided if the helmet had a bit thicker padding (against the head band and greater coverage on the lower rear of it.)It is Good helmet overall. (It saved my head) :o)Would I recommend this helmet? It would surely depend on what activity that I would be using it for. Personally, I would buy a helmet that offered greater protection lower on the head, a bit more padding, and has a small brim on the front of it.

OK, I've only used the helmet once so far, but I really like it. I use it for caving and am coming from using Petzl Ecrin Roc helmets for years. This Mammut fits closer to the head, is lighter in weight, and has a very nice cushy interior. The straps are comfortable (much more than I've found the elios to be) and easy to adjust. The headlamp anchors are well placed and seem sturdy.The only thing that I don't like about the helmet is in no way applicable to most users. I perform cave research and am required to decontaminate my equipment between each cave and the soft, open cell material on the strap and harness are more difficult to decontaminate. Regardless, it's worth it for a long day underground as this helmet is much more comfortable on my noggin than any other helmet I've tried (mostly Petzl products).

There are times when a bicycle helmet or a football helmet just won't do. For instance, mountain climbing requires full head protection but lots of visibility. It needs to accommodate a head lamp, as well. Also great for emergency situations where there might be falling tree limbs or rockfall. Many people have purchased these helmets to protect members of their family from flying or falling objects during a tornado or hurricane. The orange color provides excellent recognition in low visibility situations.

My husband loves this helmet. He really wanted one that sat well on his head and didn't look too awkward like some helmets he's seen. Every time he uses it for work or rec, he mentions how much he loves it.

I use this for exploring mines. When i wear it my head does not hurt when it hits against the inside of mountains. It has little hooks to hold headlamps which is nice

I've recently gotten into caving, for the first bit I used other guy's helmets while I waited to see if I wanted to buy all the gear. I chose this helmet over the Black Diamond and Petzel ones because it was more affordable. It's so much more comfortable than the others and it's protected my head from a few falling rocks. Would recommend

Have had this helmet for nearly a year now and still love it!! I work in Production Entertaiment and use it during load in / load out scenarios as opposed to a traditional hard hat. The Mammut really outperforms in comfort and protection for my money. Well worth the investment!!

Product is ok... I was looking for an inexpensive helmet for arena rigging. I purchased this one mainly due to the price and over all look. Gets the job done... I'll add to this review once I get hit in the head and survive.

What an amazing piece of kit would highly recommend to anyone it got hit with a 1.2 meter scaffolding quick stage transom from 12ft and all though I suffered extreme neck and shoulder pain with a small cut to my head all I can if it wasn't for this I might not be writing this review and although their looks like only slight damage to the helmet I will probably have to purchase another what a shame but you can't put a price on safety it comes first and a hope anyone who reads this review takes this review on board and remembers that what they've read.

Probably the best lid on the market. I wear this 12hrs a day without realising it due to great comfort. Removable, washable liner is nice touch too in hot or dusty environment

small, light, well ventelated. I wish it came with some pads to help make it fit me better as no helmet seems to fit me ever. I use it for stage work, it's way better than my old petzl vertex vent.

Fantastic piece of kit. Very comfortable and easily adjusted to the correct size. Can be adjusted large enough to wear a beanie underneath if it's cold enough to need it. Certainly for rigging, climbing and rope access work I'd have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone. Good padding inside the helmet to make it comfortable for prolonged use.If you're going to be spending lengthy periods wearing a helmet then this is a solid choice.............

It does the job, good quality helmet. But sits high on the head and looks bit funny as it can move a bit.

Bought for a present. My son seems happy with it.

I use this for caving / urban exploring, great comfortable fit, in my view it's better than the Petzel alternative, mainly due to the soft padding. This makes wearing for extended periods bearable

Works well I have used it for rigging at many concerts. fits nicely and is light.

Nice helmet but it is delicate, mine broke in my check-in baggage
