The trick with these is to heat them up with hot water before you fit the tank. Did that and jams the tank on. It has not cracked. It was a 63 cu ft tank.

The XS Scuba 7.25" Aluminum Cylinder Boot fit my tank perfectly. After soaking it in hot water for a few minutes, it slipped right on without much effort. Once installed, it fits securely and provides good protection for the bottom of the tank. The octagon design keeps the tank stable when standing upright, and the overall quality seems very good. If you're having trouble installing it, try warming it up in hot water first—it made the job much easier.

Cost effective way to add protection to my diving tank
Tank boot is an effective way to add protection to my dive tank. Less worry that tank will roll around in back of the truck. A bit of a tight fit, but as someone else mentioned I soaked boot in hot water for a few minutes and it went right on with a few wacks from a rubber mallet.
