Hard as a rock and return shipping is (maybe) your cost
I bought these mats for my wrestler son, but we were very surprised at how hard these mats were. I called the factory and they said that all their mats are the same, for wrestling, judo, etc. I am shodan judo and I can tell you I would not want to be thrown on this mat. We have experience on several other kinds of wrestling mats and this mat could cause injury in the case of a hard fall at a bad angle, which is common in wrestling.Be careful when you purchase this item and note that you will have to pay the return shipping if you are not satisfied with this. I failed to notice that. The product is very well made, I have to say. The mats do roll up easily and come with a nice heavy-duty strap to secure them. This would be ideal for us if the mat were not so hard.UPDATE: The manufacturer decided to pay for return shipping, which was very kind of them. I wouldn't expect it, since it's not promised. However, this is now consistent with my previous Prime experience and I am satisfied. I've added another star for customer service.I also did a lot of research on wrestling mats, following a discussion with the athletic director of our high school. He pointed me to the Resilite manufacturer, which offer the same kind of flexi-roll up mat but also have the "classic" mat that you see at competitions. Other manufacturers make these as well. Here is what I learned about the two kinds of mats.Competition mats:MATERIAL: Elastomeric rubber nitrile foam core.PROS: The best impact cushion. When you hit it fast, it compresses, but doesn't bottom-out to the subfloor. It feels softer. Double-sided.CONS: It's heavy and doesn't roll up very easily. Requires mat tape to join them.Flexible mats:MATERIAL: Vinyl-covered polyethylenePROS: very light weight. It's stiffer core can be sliced so that it will roll up easily. The top-side is vinyl covered. They can also velcro together.CONS: Very hard on initial impact. Like hitting water at a high speed - it feels very hard. Single-sided (the back is not covered). Conclusion:If you are using your mat mostly on hands and knees, not taking falls, then the flexible mat is going to be great for home use. For Judo, the flexible mat (cross-linked polyethylene) are not advised - you may get hurt. For full-on wrestling, I think these are just dangerous; competitors are taking hard falls in difficult body positions, sometimes on their necks. For these kinds of use, I'd only want to use the softer elastomeric mats. But sadly, they are a pain for home use unless you have a large dedicated area to leave them out. I hope this helps.

Perfect Mat to wrestle or roll at home!
Great Mat!!! No tape needed. Head and armed the wife with no issues. I'm glad I bought this one that doesn't require tape. It makes all the difference. The mat came like three days after it shipped. I'm very happy with this mat. My kids like it too!

Exactly what I was looking for...
After reading other customer reviews, I was a little concerned with the report that this was "too hard". I am 48 years old and not as spry as I once was, and, this purchase was so that my son (14 years old) and I could learn some basic techniques and practice (grappling and basic jujitsu). However, after some extensive research on other product offerings, I decided to take the chance. To my pleasant surprise, 2 boxes arrived within 5 business days, and I simply unpacked, unrolled, and quickly attached with the Velcro feature. From opening the box to full setup, it took about 5 minutes. Once my son and I started using, we were glad we took the chance. Perfectly provides required padding/softness for these old bones - because of the other reviews, I had the expectation that this would be much firmer than wanted, but is exactly what we were looking for. My son regularly attended taekwondo classes (2nd degree brown) and this mimics what is at that facility, albeit in a 10' x 10' offering.Light weight and easy enough for my son to setup and/or roll-up and store.Velcro option makes setup quick and easy.Professional material, look, and feel.

Disappointment with Dollamur grappling mat
Just received the mat today. One half has the semicircle, the other one is clean. There is no replacement option on Amazon. I will return it then.

Start lines/circle
We bought this for my husband to teach technique to our three young wrestlers at home, away from the distraction at practice. We have to put it away after every use because our big dogs like to wrestle on it too. What I like about it most is how little room it takes up when not in use and how easy it is to assemble and disassemble. My boys are little, so they don't have a problem with the hardness, perhaps it depends on the surface beneath the mat. Our mat is on hardwood floors, and I suppose concrete would have a different feel...

It is great. I couldn't be more pleased
I have owned this mat for almost two years now. It is great. I couldn't be more pleased. I have wrestled all my life and now coach at the youth program. My son has thrown me numerous times on this mat. It is not "too hard" as the prior review states. It is a wrestling mat. A mat that is too soft breaks ankles. This mat still looks and feels brand new and we have been using it consistently. I recommend 100%.
