A very satisfying model to build
The directions and design are suberb. It was very easy to go step-by-step and succesfully complete this model. I didn't give it 5 stars because the cutter is a bit duller than I'd like and I can't imagine being able to complete it with the safety guard intact because of the smaller pieces. Also, the plastic tweezers are not good, and I will buy cosmetic tweezers for the next one. This model is for people who are patient, you will need many hours to complete it, but since you start assembling the 3D parts as you go along, you are kept motivated. I must say I loved building it, and though I wasn't patient enough to make it as accurate as it should have been, it still looks good. This is a good one to start with, since there are fewer than 1,000 beams, unlike many of the others. You will need to have your own sandpaper. There is somewhat of a learning curve, and if you haven't made any other models like me, you'll go through the same thing. Still, I can't wait to get my next one, the Eiffel Tower. I know I'll get better. It's hard for me to imagine a 12-year-old with the patience to spend so much time, but some have it, so be aware that your child should have a great deal of patience.

NOT WORTH IT.
Big disappointment. This is what happens when you go for the cheapest price. The seller has a price on the box (where it was apparently on their shelf for awhile. I paid 60% more that I should have, found the model to be much LESS than expected. Having built several of these, I know what to expect and this wasnt it. I beliieve it may have been one of their early products.

A Great Patient Activity.
I'm about 1/5 of the way through, so some of my opinions may change, but I doubt it.Most of the matchsticks are mostly straight, and I've only had to discard a few. This is a great activity to do while watching a TV show. Its calm and requires focus, but you can still pay attention to the TV for the most part. I've probably put 20+ hours in, but I am going slow (and watching TV while I work), but I am still enjoying it and will probably buy another kit.The cutter works pretty well, and most of the time cuts clean through. I am still figuring it out, but I think if you cut quickly you get less tear out on the bottom of the piece. The only additional tools I am using are a pen to mark the pieces to cut, and a slightly larger box to hold everything and to work as a work surface on the couch.

Looks easy but is not.
The product came with very poor instructions. There were no measurements or instructions on how to assemble the pieces together.

I would not recommend buying this product.
When I received this product the box was severely bent. I was surprised everything inside was actually intact. Also, the “glue” they provide was completely dry and of no use. There is a reason this product is only $20.

Great New and Challenging New Hobby!!
This is a great product! I was looking for a new hobby and now I've found it! I'm about 1/2 way through this project and I'm already planning for more in the winter. The instructions are great, the cutter is not bad (but I've found that using an X-Acto knife set is better) the tweezers are horrible, buy a metal pair in the beauty supply section of the store. They don't provide enough glue, don't buy the expensive refill, instead buy Elmer's Glue-All in any store, does the same job and is much less expensive. The Empire State Building is a great starter project! It will help you learn the technique before you move on to more difficult Matchitecture projects, I want to tackle the Ontario Bridge and the Chrysler building next. If you are looking for a great indoor hobby, take up Matchitecture.

One Star
Really difficult to put together for a 12 year old.

Great project if you have the time and patience
This is a great project if you're willing to put in the time. It is not for kids under 13, both because they may not be able to follow the directions, measure/cut the sticks accurately enough, and have the patience.Patience is key with a project like this. There are steps which require measuring, marking, and cutting 20 or more sticks into different (or same) sizes, precise gluing, fixing mistakes, etc. It took me probably 150 hours in total (over 6 months) to complete this. Very enjoyable and relaxing (instead of watching TV) but it takes time...

au départ je n'avais pas commandé ce modèle, mais je n'avais pas le temps de demander ce que j'avais commandé et de faire un échange, par contre les plans et les différentes étapes sont très bien faites !

Don’t waste your money!
Don’t bother, it breaks every time you pick the pieces up and not enough glue.
