Ultra-Pro LX Hayward 1.5 HP Single Speed Above Ground Swimming Pool Pump

This thing is QUIET and PLENTY STRONG. It has a large piece of styrofoam that fills the attachable base and adds to the noise dampening. I initially had mine on a large hollow plastic base that also holds the filter. However, while it was much quieter than the previous Hayward Matrix, the base acted like a baffle creating a soft hum. I moved the Ultra-Pro to a paver on the ground, and put some hardish gray foam - from water pipe insulation - under each corner of the pump, Wow, very, very quiet now. For the first few days, there was a quiet rattle, but it seems to have broke-in and even that went away! Also, it seems to be slightly less strong than the Matrix, which I like, because when water levels get low, it doesn't pull in air; it's very nice not seeing any bubbles at all ever in the pump trap! More than enough water moving! I am thrilled.

This pump is great, nicely covered to protect it, my other one rusted on the outside. It's not too loud, was easy to install. There was some play between the filter and motor, waiting to see if that will be a problem or is normal. Note to men, do not apple to much pressure to those plastic connections, you can crack them. Tighten a little at a time, until you don't have a leak.

This pump is very quiet. It's easy to prime. I really like the convenience of an on/off switch on the pump and the 20' power cord.
