Rust-Oleum 206540 Chalkboard Brush-On Paint, 30 oz, Black

This chalkboard paint worked well. It stays on the surface and effectively transforms it into a usable, erasable chalkboard that can be used for years. We’ve used it on multiple surfaces. The color is accurate to the description. We only bought one can of paint and used it on a door, one side of a dresser, and a space on the wall that was about 3x3ft.

Enough to paint one medium size wall in kitchen ( two coats). I love it! Wanted to have a wall for grandkids to draw as well as write menus and grocery lists and serves the purpose perfectly! Quality is very good and can wash off chalk easily. Just follow directions on can and will turn out great!

Looks like a dark blue when wet but turns black when dried

Takes a few coats, but works well. Hopefully it will hold up over time. I highly recommend you get your board as flat and smooth as possible. Put on a coat, let dry, sand with 220, and repeat for 4-5 coats. Make sure to pre-chalk it before use. (Lay the chalk on its site and color in the entire board, erase, it and its ready to use).

It works well. We put it on our bedroom doors. The only problem I had with it is you definitely need a second coat. It's very streaky and see through if you just use one. So for 3 doors I had to get an extra can.

I really like this paint. I used it to paint my frig! I was tired of the stainless steel, as it shows all fingerprints and streaks from cleaners in the sunlight. I had done this before so I wasn't worried. Cleaned and ever so slightly sanded frig and put 2 coats of this paint. I had intended to write on it, but it looks so good I will prob just leave it alone. Rec'd several compliments already.

This is great, one can covered a roughly 12x10 square on the wall with a couple of coats. It's thick and very good quality paint.

I recently used Rust-Oleum 301450 Specialty Chalkboard Paint to transform a wall in my kitchen into a functional chalkboard, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.  The application was straightforward; I used a foam roller to apply the paint, which went on smoothly without any streaks. After allowing the paint to dry for about 30 minutes, I waited the recommended 24 hours before “conditioning” the surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over the entire area and erasing it. Good coverage works

I used this product to paint a 4ft x 8ft sheet of hardboard using a smooth-finish foam roller. (Board had been primed first with regular white acrylic.) Although a small can of paint, it was enough for 3 full coats with plenty left over. The paint has fumes, so make sure you have proper ventilation. For this reason I would suggest doing this project when the weather is nice enough to have the windows open. I used an N95 mask and had all the windows and doors open; probably overkill, but it worked well. Chalk leaves dust, so you'll want a small ledge under the chalkboard. I used a piece of 2.5" strapping. It works well to catch the dust, as well as hold the chalk and eraser. It was a simple project and very much worth the time spent. I use this chalkboard every day, and so far the surface has remained smooth and durable. Edit: After one year of frequent use, the surface of this homemade chalkboard is still perfect. I would even say it gets better with time, especially if you allow the chalk dust to "season" the board, and only use a proper chalkboard eraser. No regrets!!

This chalkboard paint works really well. It goes on smoothly, dries evenly, and turns my wall into a usable chalkboard. My kid loves drawing on it. It wipes clean easily and doesn’t leave a mess. Very happy with this purchase!
