Panasonic LM-HB47LU 4.7GB Single-Sided DVD-RAM Disc

All my laptops have DVD burners and they are just sitting idle and waiting to die, why not put them to good use.After checking Wikipedia, I learned that DVD RAM can be used like a hard drive and have practically unlimited rewrite capabilities, so it can be a almost free onsite backup solution since I already have many otherwise useless DVD burners.It's extremely simple to use, put it in DVD drive, and Windows7/8 will format it, after a short while it's ready to be used like a hard drive. You can just copy files to it or delete files from it. There is no driver to install.4.7GB(4.26GB formatted) may not seem enough these days, but most cloud storage services provide no more than 5GB free space.It has enough capacity to backup all my important files. so if anything happens to my harddrive, I don't lose everything. The most important thing is: this backup solution does not rely on network.The writing speed is slow, around 1MB/s average, but I mainly use it to backup small files, so I am ok with it. The reading performance is surprisingly good, files open almost instantly like on a hard drive.I will report if the disk fails prematurely.

Using these dsic work perfectly; I removed the cartiage so I can use in my DVD player.Work without a problem, thank you

Use this for a training class. Was able to use it for a few months.

.Not as advertised. What I received and paid for was TWO DVD RAM CARTRIDGES not TWO single sided DVD RAMS as ordered. I returned both but only received credit for ONE. Not Good. I want the rest of my money back.

Everything as expected. Have been using it for a while copying and erasing TV programs. No complaints on any kind.

Not exactly what I wanted. It came in a cartridge that I couldn't use, but there were instructions to remove it from the cartridge. I later found just the disk at Circuit City much cheaper.

It did what I wanted it to do.
