I have several different stud finders and none of them are fabulous. This one is no exception—but it’s pretty good. For me, the best approach is to have more than one different kind and when embarking on a project before poking holes in the wall, try them all to get the most consistent info possible. This one has more buttons and so is a little more complicated to use. I had an unusual situation behind the wall which was puzzling to solve without x ray vision. This did tell me where the electrical wires were and where the studs were and kept me from getting shocked by hitting that wire which was not where it was logically supposed to be.I do recommend this stud finder but I always use more than one each time.If my review was helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking “helpful”. I use the wood moisture meter when looking at potential water damage and also to test whether firewood is properly seasoned. I use a metal detector to find staples and nails in wood before milling with a planer or jointer, or to find screws when removing drywall.The scanning stud finder feature was something I had been looking for since I'm sometimes working on plaster or repaired areas, where the scanning feature can give me a better idea of what's under the skin.One thing to consider is that the moisture meter pins are not replaceable - Not an issue if you are only using it occasionally. I have damaged pins on my other moisture meter by dropping it in the driveway, but fortunately those were replaceable - it's not too hard to resharpen the pins if necessary.

This is one of the most accurate wall detector I've ever used and I've used a lot of them. As an electrician I throw a lot at these things and in the past I've usually conveniently forgot them on the job so I'd have an excuse to try something new. I'll tell you right now though this one will be sticking with me. It detects wood and metal studs without any problem and it detects nails when all else fails. Plus, I can see the power detection coming in handy.My only complaint is that it comes set on cm for distance and as far as I can tell the instructions don't give you any clue as to if this can even be changed. After poking around a bit I can confirm this can be changed and it's super simple... Hold the wood button and the hold button at the same time and bam it's Americanized.

When compared to the bigger name brands, this is a fantastic steal at this price. It's nice to see a company offering a competitive product and price. It is useful to be able to scan a wall for so many things in one scanner without having to trade back and forth. The only catch, is that novices that are used to your user-friendly displays that try to visualize the stud on the screen may have trouble getting used to this as this scanner is more analytical than it is visual. It describes detection by a percentage and other values to let the user know what it sees. Thankfully, it at least gives you a target icon at the bottom when it has found the center of a stud (which would make it easier on such novices to adjust to the scanner).For those who are used to this style of scanning, it is a fantastic scanner. It isn't perfect, but it is accurate enough for you to safely accomplish your mission.

Let me say this sucker is handy! I have used it Several times to hand pictures and basic things Ie, shelves and racks, but I have also used it to avoid electrical lines in the wall and that is pretty helpful to know and have. Thus far its been really accurate. I will say the beeping if you set it down on something is a little annoying, but that’s just a personal opinion of not caring for the tone. I love that it has its own little case so it’s not getting beat up in my tool bag. It’s definitely a good stocking stuffer if you get it on the Black Friday deals. I would definitely choose it again.

I really like the display and it is no less accurate than my much more expensive stud finder. I have actually found it to be much more accurate. I got tired driving nails in a wall only to find air behind the drywall. I figured I would just give this one a try. So far it has been dead on for every nail I have driven. The display makes it very easy to find the stud. I have only used this on wood studs through drywall. The wood moisture sensor was a plus. I haven't had a chance to actually use it for anything, but I did test it and it works.

I purchased a cheap stud finder a few years ago and have been really unhappy with it since. It's very inconsistent to read and leaved a black skid mark across the wall. I've been looking to replace it since I got it and I'm really happy that I did. This stud finder is a huge upgrade over my last stud finder. It arrived quickly using Amazon Prime. I popped in the included battery and looked for a place to hang a set of framed photos I've been meaning to hang. Everything on the stud finder works just as described. It feels very sturdy and well built. The carrying case feels really nice as well and it has a belt attachment which is convenient if you're working on a project. It feels like a good value for the money, especially since it comes with a battery and a nice carrying case. I would recommend this product to those looking to upgrade their stud finder or purchase one for the first time.

This is a great little multifunction device in a compact form factor. Admittedly, I've only used two of the functions on this stud finder, but both of them have worked quite well (1. Stud Finder and 2. Moisture Meter). It's hard to find a reliable stud finder, but this is probably the best one that I've used.As far as the moisture meter goes, I use it to see when firewood is properly cured (~20%) and I've also used it to detect moisture in drywall from a small shower leak. Very impressed with this unit for the price!
