Trinny And Susannah: The Rules [DVD]

OK, so I bought it cheap, but I found it entertaining and honest. I was surprised by the one star reviews, especially by the man, because surely this subject was intended for the ladies. I admire the presenters for discouraging people from "going under the knife", and that one should hide the bad bits and enhance the good bits. I cannot understand why anyone would disagree with that idea. So, some of their "appropriate" clothing was not that good, granted, but that was just my taste. I learnt a lot from Trinny and Susannah, and I was surprised at how old the programme was until after I had finished watching it. Perhaps their books or their programmes were better, I am not sure.

SO FAR I HAVE SPENT 4 HOURS (UNZIPPED) WATCHING THIS DVD.arggggghh

There are a few genuinely useful tips in this DVD if you can bear to sit through the carping of the two ladies in question. To their credit, they are not afraid to make themselves look bad and highlight their so-called 'flaws' in the before/after process of outlining what clothing styles suit what body shapes.However, by the end of viewing I did have an urge to thrust the disc to the back of the cupboard and not watch it again for quite a while [if ever].....the section on applying make-up is the pinnacle of cringe-making,I would advise avoiding it at all costs.All in all it would seem better to purchase one of their books rather than this DVD - that way you can look at the pictures and gather the useful bits of information without having to hear their irritating voices.

The dvd arrived on time, was packaged well and it was in good condition. It is a gift so haven't viewed dvd, but I loved their books so expect dvd will be enjoyable.

Very good, reminds me of the shows, gives good ideas on how to show off your best bits and hide the rest.

I'v been watching 'What not to wear' for as long as I can remember and this DVD is a good complement to it. you can see when watching the DVD why items do and don't work for your body type, and it's a great help having Trinny and Susannah explaning why certian items don't work for your body type.What makes the DVD extra special for me is that it does'nt only cover clothing, but also jewellery, shoes, and make-up.Before I had this DVD I was a complete mess, now can watch this DVD over and over again to remind myself what dose work for me and not go back to my old style

Trinny and Susannah are a breath of fresh air. Often lambasted for their cruelty, I find this criticism wholly innacurate. These are two gutsy, opinionated, sexy women who know what they are talking about, who have great style, taste and - above all -who understand us women, know what suits us and speak plainly and accurately. I call their approach blunt common sense - never does it veer into the territory of unnecessary jibes.As a piece, THE RULES is useful and every woman will take something from it no matter what their shape or style. My only reason for not rating it higher is that the video may have been more effective if more models had been used ... neither Trinny nor Susannah are (in my opinion) glaringly difficult to dress despite their wonderful honesty about their own 'shortcomings' but the way they interact is fab, and their fresh approach to fashion will change the way women (and men) look at clothes and personal style. The main achievment of this programme is to disprove the notion that only stick thin models can have style. I applaud Trinny and Susannah for helping women everywhere (myself included!) re evaluate what can be celebrated about their shape rather than to always focus on the negatives. My other reason for not rating it higher is that one needs not watch it more than once or twice once one has internalised 'the rules', so in that sense this may be better shared between friends as opposed to bought! Not that I am dicouraging anyone from buying it of course ... ;)
