Great for any level guitarist
The guitar arrived in 1st class condition and on time.I recently played a friends 2010 Gibson sg and fell in love with it, but no way could I afford a Gibson so I decided to have a shot at an Epiphone Sg version for less than a 3rd of the price and I wasn’t disappointed. This guitar actually played great straight out of the box (I had read that the set up is often way off with epiphones) and for me played and sounded better than the Gibson, this guitar also has cool splitting which the Gibson doesn’t and that’s quite a cool extra. The finish and feel of this Guitar is amazing and plays and sounds superb. I would recommend to any level guitarist looking for an amazing guitar at a very good price.

Epiphone G 400 SG
The guitar arrived before I had arranged, but was delivered to a neighbour which was fine. The guitar itself arrived well packaged and once unwrapped is a lovely looking colour. Nice to play with many tonal differences due to the push/pull pots allowing for coli splitting. Overall, very pleased with the guitar.

It has a comfortable neck profile and nicely finished frets
Firstly it states on the web site that it was produced in the USA. That means the box comes from the States, the guitar comes from China. On opening the box I notice that it is uncomfortably light certainly the lightest guitar that I have come across. It has a comfortable neck profile and nicely finished frets. However the neck needs adjustment. The set up is very poor and spoils what could be a nice guitar. So if you buy one be prepared to get a luthier to do a professional setup for about £60. Got it as a Xmas present and a bit disappointed that it doesn't play as good as it looks. It will be sorted out and then it should be great. The coil tappers are pretty useless gimmick really in my honest opinion.

With some tweaks - great!
At first out of the box I was massively disappointed...volume controls are terrible - no "fade"...just a complete cut off at about "2". Cheap plastic nut, bad intonation. However I took it to a very reputable luthier and replaced the nut with a bone one. I also got him to chop out the split coil switches and replace them with quality hardware. (If you're playing an "SG" why would you need single coil options anyways?).He gave the guitar a perfect setup and restrung with "8" gauge - my personal preference.Total cost about £120.Have to say absolutely amazed now. Before I had a returns number from Amazon but took the chance to upgrade as I just can't afford a Gibson.Playing for 33 years now, have had Yngwie signature strats, Steve Vai Jems, Charvel, Les Pauls, you name it I've played it.Have to say that finally at 51 years of age I have the perfect guitar. In one - ONE day of having this set up to my liking I'm already a better player.Roll off the volume with the upgraded pots, luvely ACDC rhythm sound, power it up and you get full on Angus "live at Donnington".My advice - if you're prepared to spend an additional £100 for tweaks to suit your taste then buy this immediately.PS the picture is MISLEADING - the version I was sent is the newer model with the fretboard binding.I'm now considering what to do next...P90's maybe? Who knows...wish I had bought something like this years ago....

Excellent guitar for its price but the bridge pickup needs an upgrade.
Gibson's sister brand Epiphone and cleverly priced to sit in the affordable price bracket and being mass produced in China. The guitar arrived well packaged and protected and first impressions were very positive, nicely finished, frets dressed etc. The factory bridge set up is too high so needed adjusting, that done it plays very nicely with a nice neck profile and coil tap switching for both pickups. On plugging in this is where the story changes slightly, the neck pickup is acceptable but the bridge pickup although Alnico was a little disappointing (remember price bracket) lacking on power and definition. That said, if I was given this as a child or beginner I would be delighted especially when I think back to what was available and affordable when I was staring to play. I decided to replace the pickup with a Gibson Angus Young signature bridge pickup which I had to solder onto the existing Epiphone quick connect pickup lead, that done it has improved the guitar enormously.

Wow
This was a great price, and it's awesome. Sounds amazing with two humbucker coils. Fretboard is easy to use with a nice low action.

Bien
Bonne guitare, et le seul bémol est un léger défaut sur le sigle épiphone.

Great Value
I love this SG Pro guitar. It is easy to play and sounds very good. I could find no fault with the fit or finish. It is a beautiful classic for a fraction of the price of a Gibson.
