Supportive, comfortable, and well made.
I am very pleasantly surprised and pleased with this pillow. I like to work in bed using a laptop desk, but our bed has no headboard so there is nothing to lean back on. I've tried cheaper pillows of this type that you can get at the local super-mart and they've always been such a disappointment - cheaply made, seams that came apart, filling that had no support, and fabrics that slid around making the whole thing pointless. This pillow arrived rolled and compressed but as anyone who's ever ordered a memory foam mattress knows you just need to let it free and leave it alone for a bit. I removed the packaging and laid it out for a few minutes, then sort of roughed it up and mashed the foam inside of it to break up larger clumps and redistribute it, then left it alone so it could warm up (it was delivered on a cold day and had sat out on the porch). When I checked on it a couple of hours later it was good to go! I'm not sure what kind of foam shreds are inside, they're not quite as squishy as memory foam but they are dense so they're not poly-fill and they're not open-cell foam like you'd find in upholstery. They compress well without losing much stability and spring back easily. When I'm using it, my body heat affects the shape of the foam and it makes it conform to my body (which is what makes me think of memory foam) The arm construction is better than many pillows on the market as they're attached separately and feel tighter in toward the body instead of being wide and making the pillow a dumpling shape that rolls over. The velour fabric is nice, I like the color and the pile is soft and long enough that the pillow doesn't slide when I lean back against it (hooray!). The seams are all double-stitched which gives me hope that they'll last. But how does it work? Pretty darned good! I mean, it is a pillow so there's a certain amount of squish to it, but I am able to sit up enough to type and work comfortably (in fact I am doing that right now as I write this review). If I find myself lounging a bit too much it's easy to sit up and pull the pillow back toward me from the bottom and it finds its shape. I like the handle on top as I use it to shake out the pillow before every use - it's already dilapidated from the last time I used it so I give it a quick shake and smoosh any filling around if the arms are lacking or there isn't enough of a base. It's very easy to do. Personally I put a squishy bed pillow directly behind and slightly under the back of it to add a little more resistance but I was very surprised by just how supportive it is. Hands down the best one I've ever tried and I'm glad I spent a bit more to get the right thing.

Better than Expected
TL/DR: This pillow is definitely not a one size fits all: I am 6’4’’, 210lbs, and the ‘Standard’ size fits me just barely. So, if you are taller or heavier I would opt for the XL. Pillow is comfortable and sturdy—however the handle feels a bit flimsy, but no problems, yet. I have found that I am reading for longer periods of time because I am more comfortable and there is less strain on my back and neck. I would recommend this to friends and family and will probably buy for my parents for their birthdays or Christmas. Arguably a year or two ago the idea of buying a pillow expressly for reading would have seemed ridiculous to me, but as I entered grad school my neck and back started to ache from sitting in a chair, on my bed, or on the couch. I’ve had this pillow for several days now and have used it for probably about 8hrs in total. Several things that I have noticed over the past several days: • I’m reading for longer periods because I am more comfortable—I don’t have to get up every so often and walk around to get the kinks out of my neck and back. • My arms don’t get tired—because of the arm rests—from holding my kindle or iPad up while reading. • I find myself using this pillow in place of the back cushions on the couch. Since my couch, and those in the homes of many of my friends, is parallel to the TV, I have to either be sitting up or lying down in order to comfortably see the screen. With this pillow, I have removed the back cushion on my couch, and place the reading pillow in the corner—this way I can be reclined without the need of an actual recliner. Not to mention this pillow is a lot more comfortable than the couch cushion. This pillow is quite a bit heavier than it looks and the stitching and fabric appear and feel sturdy. It is easy to get lost in a book while reclining onto this reading pillow, which a friend told me the other day used to be called a husband pillow. The only part of it that feels a bit weak is the handle on the top. While it is holding up just fine after several days, it does feel flimsy when under the weight of the pillow—while feel isn’t everything a stronger handle would make me like the pillow a bit better and I wouldn’t worry about tearing the pillow open every time I grabbed it. If you don’t like the color or you just want to protect the soft covering, you can find husband pillow covers online as well—but perhaps Malouf already has or will have coverings available shortly. One thing I would like to see in future versions: multiple colors in each size. I wanted the navy one, but it was only available in XL. However, now that I have it I am fairly content with the gray, but it would have been nice to be able to match the color to a couch or bed frame—that said, gray goes with just about everything so it was a good color for Malouf to choose given they only chose one.

So Glad I bought it!!
Pillow arrived as promised, The only thing so far is the pillow has a chemical loud smell to it just as others described. I took another advice and threw it in the dryer with a few dryer sheets on "air dry" for 30 minutes and it fluffed right up and I was able to use it right away. As far as the smell I also used renuzit super odor killer and put back in the dryer on air fluff for another 15 minutes the smell isn't so loud but still there. I was really excited to use it right away after reading previous reviews and so far it exceeds my expectations. I am looking forward to many days and nights with my reading pillow as I broke my foot and will be resting for the next few weeks. I have never tried anything with memory foam and I have to tell you it feels good on my back. It was very comfortable yet held its form. I depend on reviews to help me decide on a purchase and I will tell you this please look at the majority of the reviews including mine and do yourself and your back a favor and purchase this pillow. If you are wondering why I didn't give it a 5 star, I took off for the chemical smell.

Wow! A comfortable, supportive reading pillow! Love it!
I ordered this reading pillow for my daughter who broke her back last year and likes to do her homework on her bed. This pillow is great and supports her lower back. The pillow molds around her and gives her something to lean into that holds its shape. I also tried it while I was watching a show on my i-phone and I loved it. We both think it is comfortable, soft and so helpful to use while we are in bed reading, doing homework or just watching a movie. I also tried it on my leather couch to give me extra support and I have loved it. When I first unpacked the pillow, the foam was all squished together and almost flat. I pulled the foam apart and fluffed up the pillow and it was super full which made it more comfortable and shapable. I was also impressed that it didn't have any smell because other products I have purchased with foam can smell funny, but this one was great. The last thing that impressed me was the price of the pillow was really affordable. It has been very worth the purchase and my daughter has really liked the pillow!

Great Addition to Bed
This was exactly what I was looking for and the color is exactly what I expected. I was nervous to buy something like this online (I would have liked to test in person first), but took a gamble. We don't have a headboard and I was getting sick of pillows for back support while on my laptop/reading/whatever. The foam bits inside give decent support (definitely better than just pillows). If you are sitting for any prolonged period, they will start to shift downward, but you can re-form to the shape you want really easily. I didn't think I would use the arms as much as I do, but as it turns out, I'm a huge fan. I noticed some reviews mentioned a smell. I have been using for a few weeks now, and don't smell anything. I didn't even smell anything when I first opened it either, so not sure what that's about. It also arrives flat and you have to work out the foam bits inside. Just read the simple instructions included. Took about a day to full "inflate," but I could have probably used it about an hour or so after unboxing. Really great quality for the price, and the handle is handy. Would definitely recommend.

Good Comfy Pillow, Not for Bad Backs* (See Update)
Well this here cushion is very soft and comfy, but sadly, my lower back needs a more solid, non-smushy pillow. I love the shape of it and the arms too. It really is a neat reading pillow for those with "normal" backs, so if that is what you are looking for, I totally recommend this! The handle on top, while at first seemed silly to me, actually is very handy as you lug it from chair to sofa to floor and back again. Huh. It had a slight smell when it came out of the package, but nothing more than similar cushioned products. It comes with a large print note instructing you to let it "spread" for at least 24 hrs before using it--it gets all smushed down during packing and shipping. Once I did that, it was like a new...pillow! No more smell and nice and plump in all the right places! The gray is a nice soft color that blends into most furnishings, not like the hideous orange/tan or dog doo-doo brown corduroy ones that my neighbor's mom had around her house in the 70s. I've always stayed away from these things because of that horrible memory, but this sweetie burst right through that old stereotype and brought with it a fresh breath of restyled retro! So, if you are looking for a nice comfy pillow for your bed (or your sitting room smoking chair)...this baby is what you're looking for! If you have lower/mid back problems, you can STILL purchase this (the mattress cops won't be coming for you in other words), but you may find it doesn't have that long-lasting lumbar support you crave for that one little spot. *UPDATE NOVEMBER 2020* I meant to update this not long after I posted the original review...oops! So the Linenspa people contacted me after the above review was first published. They expressed their regret that the product did not meet my needs and then very graciously asked if I would be interested in trying out their larger sized cushion... free of charge! I mean, wow!! (This kinda thing doesn't ever happen to me. Honest!) Of course I immediately replied "Yes!! (taking great care not to add the "duh!" that finished my thought). They even asked which color I preferred! (Seriously?!) So...I am (finally) very happy to report the larger size was just the ticket to getting the support I needed! And, no, I am NOT just saying this because it was free (but come on, would you blame me if I did?). Nope. The large size is huge, almost like a firm (yet soft) teddy bear. The fabric, like my smaller grey one, is a very soft and plush material easy to spot clean, brush off cat hair, and when you need to, machine wash. I chose the dark blue color, which is actually quite lovely...like a midnight blue. The larger size provides an extra puffiness to fill out that always-annoying lumbar area I whined about above. And those arms, wow! Awesome! Note: the large size is...well, quite large. So if considering this size, be sure to check the measurements of your chair first. I want to thank the Linenspa people for being so kind to check back with me and generously offering me this beautiful product as a retry. They obviously care a great deal about offering a quality product as well as superior customer service. Best wishes!

The fit is perfect for watching TV in a reclining position.
I spend a few hours a day watching TV in bed with my feet elevated and was looking for something to take the strain off my neck. Before this I was using pillows and had to adjust constantly and always ended up with a neck ache. I did some research and this was the top of the heap. I bought the extra large first as there are only 2 sizes and boy is it big. It did not work for me because I like to recline so I order the small one. It really is small! They need to come out with a medium! Anyway, I thought it was too small, until I tried it. It is perfect for shorter people who want to use it in a reclining position. It fits perfectly right under my neck while still supporting the small of my back! I am very happy and will be watching TV in bed with joy! I do wish it had pockets though, I am constantly forgetting where I put the remote! Perhaps I will sew some on.....

Do not recommend - caused back pain.
-- Note -- I've owned this reading pillow for 6 weeks now and it's used for multiple hours daily. I use it reading pillow in bed and the bed I'm currently in is pushed up against a windowsill. -- Review -- The pillow itself has dense fibers inside but for some reason, I still felt the windowsill through the pillow, and as a result, I have two pillows piled behind it. One of the pillows is a standard softer pillow and a VERY VERY thick Tempurpedic pillow. With both pillows essentially supporting this backrest I feel like I'm getting just enough support but reading pillow does not maintain conformity on my back. It easily distorts and you have to fluff (read: beat) it back into shape every couple of days. I find that I'm experiencing back pain while using this pillow, which defeated the point of purchasing it. Would I recommend/repurchase this product: No, I feel like other than the armrests I could have essentially made a pillow pile that would have done the same thing as what this item's purpose was and probably for a less expensive price. -- 9 Week Update -- I changed my review from a two-star review to a one-star, the reasoning behind this is back pain. When I started using this reading pillow more during the day I started to notice back pain. My husband commented that since the pillow wasn't staying fluffed up that it could be the culprit behind the pain, so I put it in a closet and started using just the Tempurpedic pillow and a standard pillow and I've noticed that the pain has decreased by about 90% after 2 weeks of discontinued use from the Linenspa Reading Pillow. My husband wanted me to get a more wellknown brand reading pillow to begin with, it was a heftier cost but I refused thinking this one would have gotten the job done. I'm sad to say it didn't and I wish I would have listened to him and not purchased this product.

This is the pillow you've been looking for!
I'm not usually one to write reviews (because most affordable products these days aren't well made) BUT...this pillow is fantastic! Just from the packaging and the very cute instructions inside, I could tell it was going to be a quality product. The fabric is really soft and doesn't feel cheap, and the stuffing fluffs up in a way that's just the right amount of firmness, yet still incredibly comfortable. Originally, I had ordered a different product but sent it back- ordered this instead for maybe only €15 more. The quality upgrade for that small amount of money is striking. Don't spend less on some cheaply made pillow, and you don't need to spend more than the cost of this one. It's perfect in every way - exactly what I was hoping for.

Great support and comfortable!! Good gift
Got this as a Christmas gift couple years ago. I love it. It’s amazing back support and it’s firm but not uncomfortable. Got it for my sister birthday. Hopefully she likes it as much as I do
