My kids are learning
There were a few that probably weren't necessary...they were phrases instead of new words and a few words only 6mo old babies wouldn't know. But other than that, my kids love turning the page and hearing a new word!

Good idea, murky word definitions
The main advantage of this is its physical structure: the mere idea that you can stand it up and have it our for your kids all day. The word definitions are often either incorrect or not exact enough, and always only cover one meaning, which can be puzzlingsometimes for the kids. My kids almost always need an added explanation, although they already know many of these by age 5, so it's rather a spelling reminder for the elder one. What is awesome, the additional pictures on the back that are either explanatory or additional. I myself learnt many new words from them - so again, the intended age group will need a parent's help with a dictionary, but that really enriched their vocabulary. I like the idea that it reinforces a habit of looking unknown things up.

Cute drawings but unimpressive
I made the mistake of purchasing quite a few of the wordsmith books. The drawings are cute, but unfortunately there’s isn’t much beyond that. Few of the words were anything new, and some were plain ridiculous- like they ran out of ideas or something.

My child hated the illustrations
My child hated the illustration like the dry skin and excessive sweat. For something geared towardschildren the images are off putting. Also some of the words were just plain nonsense. Bummed I wasted my money.

new words
My daughter is using this item in the kitchen daily to help my grandson ( age 7) who is somewhat dyslexic . He is practicing new words and what they mean and this standup item makes it easy for him as it can be turned over one word a day in big letters with their meaning. It can be useful at home to help school .( As a bonis his 5 year old sister is learning too . )

Simple and effective
I wasn’t sure about this but it’s great. Lovely and big, my 4 year old is loving it and learning lots of new words. My 7 year old unconfident reader is also enjoying it. We have it in their room and discuss the word of the day while getting ready and then have a little recap at bedtime.

So educational
I bought this for my 3 year old, and it’s so educational. Big words but he has shown a real interest. Lots of fun ways for kids to learn new words and about semantics

Great word building resource
Really good item. Mrs Wordsmith is used in schools and this is a good resource for younger children.
