Works Great
Nice assortment of connectors and a crimper. I have made a good number of ribbon cables with this tool and it has worked well. The plastic seat on the pliers, for the plug tends to fall out when making a cable, but a piece of tape across the the seat holder keeps it in place. No other complaints. A handy tool to have and is much better than trying to use pliers to make a cable.

Exactly as expected
I do a lot of electronics projects and had tried doing a ribbon cable for a touchscreen by individually crimping pins onto wires, but kept getting bad connections. This kit was exactly what I needed. I've done nearly a dozen connectors so far, and they all checked out and work great.

Cheap IDC crimper but it works!
The IDC connectors are what they are. There’s nothing out of the ordinary going on there. The crimper however is a very budget type tool. For smaller connectors there’s not much of a difference between it and squeezing with a pair of channellock pliers. In fact its a whole lot more difficult to use the crimper since the tool parts are very loose and the jaws don’t open up very much. This means you need to carefully position the ribbon cable and load the connector into the crimper without causing a misalignment or the connector or cable falling out. For higher pin counts the tool is useful as it keep the top jaw square with the bottom. When you crimp a larger connector pressure is more evenly applied to the whole connector at once vs using pliers. Overall it works and I didn’t have any issues with the tool being misaligned.

Need to make ribbon cables? This'll do it!
For some projects I needed to put together some ribbon cables of arbitrary width, and this kit contains an excellent selection of headers to choose from (with optional double-back clip) and the crimping tool makes it trivial to press the ends together for a nice, solid fit.

Tool Is Uselessly Non-Parallel, Connectors Seem OK
Avoid! See my photo. The first connector I tried with the tool popped out sideways, broken. Thinking it must be my fault, - maybe I didn't have it in there right in the first place? - I was about to try another and noticed it wasn't lining up parallel at all. If it were possible to fix the tool I would, but it's so far out of whack I'm sending it back. Total crap. The connectors seem fine, I was able to press one on the ribbon cable with a C-clamp by moving it around and carefully squishing it down evenly a bit at a time. I've successfully done this several times in the past, I suppose I'm the idiot for thinking a cheap tool would help here. Live and learn.
