Nice marking gauge
I bought this gauge because I needed another gauge that was better than the cheaper WR one that I have. I bought this and took it out to the shop to give it a go.First impressions: it feels good in the hand. I set it up and marked out a tenon. It cut nicely and it didn't slip.I thought that the lines might be painted on. Took a knife to one to see and couldn't scrape it off. Couldn't really scrape the black japanning/paint off either. I'm sure it will wear over time but to be honest, I don't depend on lines on my marking gauge. My Veritas doesn't have any lines.Just to check, I took the knife to the WR gauge and the black and gold paint scraped right off without even trying. The wr was $7 more too. Tsk.This gauge has a flat head so I can drop in on something to get a precise measurement. Unlike that stupid wr.All in all, I'm giving this a thumbs up and I will probably buy another one to have on hand.

Solid value.
Good performance for the money. Great value. Not as nice as the Veritas model I already own but less than 1/2 the price. Good utilitarian tool and a solid value.

cheap, has the job done
You get what you paid for. :) Been a half price of Veritas Micro-Adjust Wheel Marking Gauge, it is a compromise. It is all metal. Has the job done in soft wood (pine). For weekend DIY it is OK. Yes, marking are difficult to read and all marks in between same length. The knob is not easy to tighten securely. Not sure if this is due to the paint that covers the rood or the size of the knob ... So if you are in need of a quality and convenience of micro adjust (to make tight cuts) go with Veritas. If you cutting from dried 2x4 for fun, this will do a job.

Good value
This is an excellent marking guage. It does have a learning curve if like me you have never used one before. The only thing I had to do was tighten the screw holding the cutter so that it doesn't spin.

Nice marker
I was really surprised with this tool, for the price its actually pretty hefty. Comes with extra cutters and is easy to read. One of the rare cases of you actually get what you pay for.

Great value
Very well made. Cutter came nice and sharp and it seems that itโs made out of real brass instead of just coated steel which is something I was really not expecting but Iโm very happy about. I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a marking gauge.

Nice build and weight
New, and with only a little use since yesterday, this gauge seems well made and nicely weighted (about 160 grams; 5.5 oz.)
