Six by Seuss: A Treasury of Dr. Seuss Classics

so many great stories to choose from. Including classics like the Grinch and the Lorax, and more unsung tales like Yertle the Turtle and the Big Brag.And yeah, it includes mulberry st, and yeah, the single illustration and wording mars an otherwise sweet little tale about using your imagination. I still read the story, but call him "a cartoon man" - so that my young son doesn't associate the ludicrous caricature with real life people like his best friend in preschool.

This book arrived in better condition than the higher rated book that I received for a Dr. Seuss collection, and was marketed at a better price. I saw the book offered in a Book-Off store the other day at $25.00. I thought that was a pretty good price after seeing some of the other listings on the internet. I was very happy when I finally received the book from my mailbox, to find that it is very clean, has no visible blemishes or writing that I can see, and looks this nice. It will be a joy to read, and share with both children and adult acquaintances for interesting discussions over why some of his books were banned, and what appears on the pages of those banned books, (Like ...And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street). Some of the children with whom I have already shared Dr. Seuss stories with while working within the educational system may also be interested to know. Many thanks to the seller for allowing me to care for this book with such a nice option.

This is an incredible collection of 6 Dr. Seuss books. As far as I can tell, the format is exactly as the originals, although the actual pages have a wider, white, margin. (I could only compare The Cat in the Hat, which is the only original that I have handy, the many others being with children and grandchildren, and of course The Cat in the Hat is not included in this collection.) But the artwork and format seem to be genuine. The price can't be beat. If there were more collections like this one, I would jump at the opportunity. Yes, 6 is less than the 13 offered in Your Favorite Seuss. But Your Favorite Seuss compromised its integrity by changing the format in its publication. So if you're a stickler for accuracy, Six by Seuss is the one to buy.

I had this exact book when I was a child, and now I am a nanny I was wistfully thinking how I wished I could get a new copy of it so I don't have to risk my precious childhood copy in order to have something so wonderful in my "toy bag". I was sure I would have to buy the individual copies to carry, but I found this instead! Exactly what I wanted, perfect to carry with me so the kids have something to look through and pick a story for me to read them.I sometimes read the younger child I watch to sleep for naptime or bedtime, and this book is perfect for that. Finishing a book and reaching for another one would rouse him to some degree, but with this I can just keep turning the pages and reading until he's fast asleep. He loves it, I love it, and sleep has never been so easy to achieve.

Of course Dr. Seuss always gets five stars. However, this particular edition deserves special mention. Not only do you get six (see list below) of some of his best books, but you get them in well-bound hardcover with high quality paper. My four year old carries this book around with him everywhere. It has stood up to drops, being stepped on, vigorous page turning and just about every other form of juvenile abuse.There is a brief introduction written by Clifton Fadiman with an even briefer post-script after Ted Geisel's (Dr. Seuss) death. I read this book to my grandchildren and am giving it to my grand kids for Christmas so they can read it to their children. A keeper!
